  1. I agree here with you gridiron. Bob, you are on here bashing one kid, blaming him for the loss. If one kid could win or lose the game, then you wouldnt need 10 others out there. Gibson Co. did a better job of tackling and physically wore the line from TCA down. This is a team sport and TEAMS win and lose games. But, least I forget, we are in a me generation and everything has to be about me or one person. I believe the UCLA quarterback threw for 4 interceptions in the first half against UT, did that make them lose the game? There is just not a need on here to single one kid out and put added pressure on a high school sophomore, there were several mistakes that you could have looked at. Gibson Co., good job. This was a great game!!! Gibson Co... 180 turnaround from last year. Work to do, but their is definite improvement. This was not a fumble, but it was a good play, in the backfield before JW ever touched the ball.
  2. Bob, you need to give the kid a break. HE IS ONLY A SOPHOMORE AND 15 YEARS OLD!!!! He made play after play in the pocket just to keep plays alive to find an open receiver. He had about a 72 yard run called back from a penalty that would not have even had affect on the play. Yes, he threw a couple of interceptions, but that happens. Congrats to the Pioneers. They were just too big for the Lions in the end. Yes, everybody did know they were going to run, but nobody knew they were going to run a reverse naked boot leg. High risk yields high reward. Hill had a hole to run through everytime and found it and did his job. The play that was difference was the int returned for a TD and the end of the first half... with TCA players trying to strip the ball instead of tackle. Gibson Co., you gotta work on the kicking game, will def cost you in a game, almost did in this one.
  3. I definitely agree with you. Jabriel is going to be a very special player, but it always takes a team to win the game. After the Manassas game, I look for this TEAM to be more ready to do with the growing up that took place on the field.
  4. Well I would say that you are definitely improved if you are going to compete for a playoff spot in that region. Big games will obviously be against JCS, USJ, Peabody, and Humboldt. Milan and Westview are above all the rest, so the other spots will be determined according to Z-Plan right? Good luck.... i like to see competitive football. I will make a judgement call for myself this friday night as to whether I think you can make it to the playoffs this year.
  5. Both teams played good teams last week. Obviously, nobody expected Gibson Co. to beat Milan (but who is going to pick anybody over Milan until they play Alcoa). But also, nobody picked TCA to beat Manassas. Manassas was a much bigger and athletic team. They have more speed everywhere than anybody else TCA will play. Yes, TCA is young, but they showed tremendous resiliency in the win last Friday night. I think this year will be much closer than last year, but I looked for Washington and his comrades to take this one. If I remember correctly, most of these TCA players were in the game against Gibson Co. last year in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Pioneer, do you honestly think you will be contending for a playoff spot this year??? I think you of all people know the teams in your region. TCA by 10.
  6. Lets all remember that he is still a sophomore and 15 years old. I dont think Jabari was any bigger than him as a sophomore. If you were at the USJ game, you saw that he is very athletic. You saw at the game that a lot of times he had to make something when absolutely nothing was there. Nobody thinks he will play QB in college, lets remember that his attention was garnered at the national recruiting combine in memphis where he won the WR division for his class. As far as him being hit, I do believe he had some pretty good hits himself (causing two fumbles last game), but you are right, hope to see him reach his full potential and not stopped due to injury. I think that we as spectators have added extra pressure to a young man that is trying to do what he can to help his team win. Also, Buster Brown... there is no way you can think that recruiting doesn't go on before they are "seniors."
  7. They cant offer official scholarships, but they can offer verbal commitments. Recruiting starts really early these days (i.e. the 8th grader in KY that gave a verbal to a school.) If you don't think schools talk to kids until they are seniors, you are crazy. Check the NCAA rules... it is called the bump in rule.
  8. The pitching is really good, but they also know they have girls that are going to make plays behind them. They have a very very solid defensive line up backing them up as proof last night against Forrest.
  9. Is there a website or brochure with more information?? How many games? teams? what is the cost? etc. etc.
  10. Purple and Gold... I saw Manassas play Middleton and I would consider them a quality opponent. A quality opponent based on the tradition there, but I would agree Middleton is down this year but somehow still at substate. I have not seen Manassas play a game that was close late and I definitely agree that it will play a factor. I think this will be the 2nd best substate game in west tn ( next to Haywood and Mitchell). Im with you on not being surprised if Humboldt wins either. Humboldt is plenty good and they arent here by any kind of fluke.
  11. I have seen both teams play and this is what I can gather for this contest. Manassas does like to shoot a lot of threes depending on the Buckner kid and #55 to gather any miss and put it right back in. At the region tourney, Im not sure if Buckner was nursing the ankle or really couldn't run down the floor... there were sometimes that he did not even make it past half court. Manassas rarely used a full-court press, but when they did they got easy buckets from full court man to man pressure. They dont really ever run a set, they just shoot shoot and shoot some more. That is easy to do when you have those guys grabbing every rebound. As with Humboldt, I really like their half-court press that they run. It creates a lot of confusion and turnovers also. Humboldt is also strong on the boards. They can shoot and score. Now, I never saw Humboldt against UC and their pressure. I dont think Manassas can put that kind of pressure because they cant afford to not have Buckner in the game and he would get tired if they played at that pace the whole game. If Epperson and the other big boy from Humboldt can put body on Manassas on every possession, then they could make it close. Humboldt obviously knows how to win with their run of tournaments. I just have Manassas taking this one in Memphis. If you like offense this would be one to go watch!! Manassas 87 Humboldt 81
  12. Well, I definately don't have a problem with the statement that Manassas will make it to the championship. From what I have heard, they might beat the grizzlies... However, I do think that Adamsville has a decent shot at beating Middleton. As far as the other games (TCA vs. Fayette Academy and JCS vs. Middle College) what do you guys think? If middleton and manassas do indeed advance which teams of the two that could play each of them in the semifina have the best chance of beating them?
  13. thats too bad... its has been a great ride. best of luck of wishes to you and your rebels!!! If they play like that, there shouldnt be a problem bringing home that football dipped in gold.
  14. Congratulations McKenzie!!! You don't have to worry about what our sorry so-called paper and wannabe tv station have to say. You guys are legit. Carr throws a pretty ball and the backs do a great job of picking up blitzes. Then, you stick it right up the gut of the defense. TCA found ways to move the ball against you, but your defense would not back down and made it happen when they needed to. Butchie, as for meeting you, I was with some old friends that I havent seen in years and forgot all about it. I was really too cold to move. I underestimated how cold it really was going to be. You should come to Jackson for the bball game Monday. Congratulations TCA on a great season. You guys have set the standard for our football program. Remember, we play for a greater purpose. McKenzie take care of business and bring the gold ball back to west Tn.
  15. well one of these teams will have their football players back just in time... I know there are several contributing players for TCA on the football team, including two starters
  16. I never thought you had beef with me. You are backing your team and I am backing mine. Also, I don't think that jack is a fan of TCA, so be careful with those comments JP. I feel like he is trying to give your boys a little motivation, because he was on your board last week posting how McKenzie would choke.
  17. I will be there Friday night, but I dont know about any of that extra stuff. Ive been looking forward to this game. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Go Lions!!!
  18. it seems like there is not much to do up in McKenzie but make fun of each other
  19. you guys really are hard on each other...you would think that you guys dont like each other
  20. why not a tailgate this week? too much turkey?? I dont know about yall, but Im more ready for Friday than I am Thursday. This game is going to be great. I hope both sides of the stands are loud and full.
  21. When has TCA ever played like that? It seems to me that people are trying to create more to this game than it really is... two good football teams that both have had a great year. I know the Jackson Sun will pick Milan - Trenton as the game of the week, but I feel this will be the game of the year, no doubt in 1A.
  22. The one thing that I like the most about this McKenzie team is that there are no individual STARS!!! Sure we have Carr who is a Mr. Football finalist along with Jordan (two of 'em from one County is pretty impressive!!) and several others who have garnered some media time this season. Just no one at the top of the heap in west TN in their individual categories. When you face McKenzie you face a team---the total package. That's what most opponents have failed to see and prepare for. I'll go back to the sidelines and watch a little while. I think that is what makes this game so interesting. Both teams are very balanced and have the talent to win this game( or else they would not be here). I guess it is fun for us fans to talk about statistics and who played who, but this comes to 22 guys on the field. Im looking forward to being full and excited come Friday night. Lets hope the game is as good as the food will be Thursday.
  23. Get your facts right... TCA led almost the whole game against USJ. Its hard for a high school to kid to prepare themselves to be up big and the other team come back in it, especially when you just give up a couple of big plays the whole game. As for Peadbody, I know Jamborees dont mean much, but I do recall TCA winning against Peabody in their Jamboree the last two years, including this year. So never had a chance I dont think so, there is not a game this whole season that TCA has not been in. By your comments, Region 8 should have bowed out before this thing started. This game should be a great one.
  24. TCA put 8 and 9 guys in the box to stop Chad Jordan with one on one on the outside. It should be easy to garner passing yards with 9 guys in the box to stop the run. This is the game that 1A in West Tn has been waiting for. I wouldnt expect for anyone to TCA much of chance seeing that yall pick them to lose to Union City (42-0) and Bruceton (28-14) and in control of both games. Remember that both teams have only lost to 2A opponents. Look for this to be a great game on Thanksgiving weekend in McKenzie. Im going to go against everybody and take TCA in a close one.
  25. Its Game Day... im sure the boys are ready. It should be a good one in Jackson with the way TCA is playing and two Mr. Football finalists coming to town. Ill take TCA in this one.
