"talent coming back", thats what they said this year about the football team, basketball and now baseball.

Any thoughts on the crowd turnout? The Big Orange plays the Gators in Knoxville (and TV) tommorrow night. Could keep the crowd away. The crowd for the finals in Bristol was not very good. Will South be full by halftime of the first game?

Now you say 3 years, it was 4. Do I hear 2? SL was not always the leading scorer her first 2 years. Jervis was many, many times as was Snead. Many games Autumn and Horton contributed to the score thanks to picks. "Don't know why they left"?. You will find out in time. The team has averaged about 3 seniors for many years. Why do so many of these girls get plenty of playing time as underclass and not stick with it? Only 2 out the 5 played this year. There is a common thread year after year and it is not because of one player as you would like to think it is. You chastise me for pointing to coaching as the problem, but you say you are not a fan and never will be of the coach. I dont get it? No, it is not too late to change. Your tone will change too. Not a parent nor family friend, obviously different from your perspective. I'm just somebody that goes to different sports boys/girls games in the area. Primarily DB because of consistency of programs and their facilities. I think SL will be playing next year, some local small college. I hope your girls will stick together but history says that will not happen. My term as Pres. has expired and was thinking about campaigning for your player (daughter?), but I'm sure you will give Pelosi the job. It could be worse, you could have South Greene's coach!!

WRONG! For the first several years on offense she would come out to the foul line and set picks. She even stood in one place spinning to set picks never moving down low until after a shot. I dont think Jill played varsity all 4 years. "Getting the ball up the court"...only when there wasnt a press!! You still didnt explain why 2 starters left, as well as, why DB has been so bad for 10 years? (Lawson has only been there 4) DB should be more competitive and it does start with the coach! As far as your bet, I'm sure you took the Bears. Easy money! Go play your gameboy!

Ordinarily you do have a good point, but this was not the first time to play North this season. Per the paper, it was actually close to 50 points when they were pressing. They whipped North twice this season by almost as many points and they jumped out to 20-4 advantage last night. The coach should have had the bench in long before so they wouldnt have to be showing their ability. I agree with your mind set to play hard, but this was not the time. I agree with an earlier post about teaching kids a life lesson. Can you imagine how much great press South Greene would have received if the coach would have taken the high road?

King, or should we call you Asst. coach for SG girls basketball? Read the posts again, nobody said SG didnt have the right to play, nor blamed anyone for North having players missing. Your comments further substantiates what everyone thinks about the game last night. Keep it up King, you are doing (coaching) great!

Duh? Freshman? Come on, have they ever been on a basketball court? Can they not read a scoreboard to know they were up 40? Surely they have been on the other end during their career. Does a coach not have any control? Which one is it? You said they didnt press, BUT the coach told them to get back several times. Sure doesnt sound like a zone to me. Sounds like a press and apparently to North's coach. Thank you for the moment of silence prior to the game, too bad the same mind didnt get communicated to the bench. Yeah, a team that is trying to press when up 40 against a team with only 4 on the court has no class! Freshman or not!

The only thing that stopped Sabra Lawson was her coach! She carried not only the team but the coach!! They continued to take L's against any team that would press. Lawson was one of the best ball handlers on the team, but never touched it during a press. Why have they not been anygood for 10 years? Lets see, what is the constant in this problem? It starts with F and it is not feeder program? Good head coaches find a way to develope feeder programs. Why is it Lawson is the only Sr to play 4 years at DB? One transferred and another one had enough. Again, the answer starts with F. Female athletics is not a priority at DB unless it is cheerleading or dance. They never will be. Put lawson on THS or SHHS there would be no question who the best player is. PS The Big 9 doesnt need South Geeenes girls basketball coach!!!

I couldn't beleive it! I had read the article again. NO CLASS SOUTH GREENE!!!!!The SG coach was quoted in the paper saying "didn't tell them to press". You sure didn't tell them to stop! It reminded me of some rec. coaches with an ego. Hats off to North! South Greene coach should be reprimanded. They are the arm pit of Greene County! North will have their day.

Can someone explain how a 5th and 6th place from last year in the same weight class wrestle the 2nd round? (Potter Eliz. 275) Potter won, but it seems a shame that these 2 young men would have to meet so early.

What happen to the upperclassmen? Where are they? Burn out, Drop out, kicked out, coach player/issues, transfer? It is one thing to have a couple of So. on the varsity, but 8? All 8 are not superior to the talent of the players that would now be sr.s. Science Hill just reloaded. This was one of the things that led to the decline of the football program. Never could keep guys out long enough for their sr year.

$$$$$$ for TSSAA! The new rule is they can only play 2 times in a week, thus 10 days for the tournament. Funny thing, they sometimes play 3 in a week during the season. What happens if it snows and they have to start making up games? If the TSSAA is serious about the students' health and academics, then enforce the rule for the regular season and NO games during exams. It looks good on paper to say they are giving the champs an auto bid, but there are other conferences with no free rides. This is TSSAA's version of 4 football teams in the playoffs. The first rounds will have lower turn out and very few students. More games + higher ticket prices = T$$AA! Expect to see more of the same in other sports.

Your message is VERY powerful. A lot of people, young and old, read message boards. Your posts can make a difference. We dont always understand the path that is extended to us, but judging from your words, I have a sense that you will become an excellent messenger. Have you, or do you speak to FCA groups? He would look better in UT Orange! He said in the paper he chose CU over Appy because of playing in front of 80,000 vs 20,000. Try playing in front of over 100,000 and a possible national championship!!!! Did UT even look his way? Anybody know? CU is still good, but I wish Fulmer and UT would take a few ET athletes. Afterall, he is the highest paid state employee.

Coty played like a man on a mission AND one with a load off of his shoulders. Knowing where he is going next fall and the fact he has a full ride to an ACC school (Clemson) had to be a big relief. I'm sure Coach Morgan wanted that behind him so he can focus on the rest of the season.

Where did they get the seating for GHS and SHHS??? It reminds of basketball teams from East TN. No easy road. Good luck wrestlers!

Is the WB game for sure and is it the Thursday night of Race week?

OR was BAD last year. What has happened? I gave them the benefit of maybe being young. The talk is the WB game was supposed to be at DB, but it is the Friday "Race Weekend" and DB plays on Thursday (you might be a redneck if you move your football game so you can go racing). I dont think WB is too hot on playing on Thursday night. Somebody else may have more current info.

"spring" practice is officially over. Looked like more players on crutches than on the field. 9-2 means they went 9-1 regular season. I say 8-3 with a loss to WB and OR or SH in the regular and number 3 in the first round.

And exactly who do you think invented trash talking? Give it a rest. It slices both ways. Ever stand on the side line of a football game? The words fly both directions and ALL colors! These little boys are going to have to get a thicker skin if they think they can play at the next level. What are they going to do when the entire student body of Cameron Crazies are in their face? Remember the Phil Ford incident and "have you driven a Ford lately?" That is just one example. Do you honestly believe words were only exchanged at the end of the SH/CHS game?? Excuses. The coaches and refs are to blame for allowing trash talk. Too much NBA and NFL.
