  1. Childress said in Tennessean (http://www.highschoo...ayoffs-remains/) that they took Riverdale into Quad 2 because they were closer to the other 7 schools than any other Rutherford Co Team. Did he do the same thing for Lincoln Co? No way. Lincoln Co High School is 135 miles from Cookeville, 27.3 miles from Franklin Co, 34.3 miles from Coffee Co, 94.7 miles from Bradley Co, 78.9 miles from Soddy-Daisy 207 miles from Oak Ridge and 51.8 miles from Riverdale. Total of 629 miles. Now Oakland is 57.8 miles from Cookeville, 50.2 miles from Franklin Co, 33.3 miles from Coffee Co, 93.8 miles from Bradley Co, 79.7 miles from Soddy-Daisy, 157 miles from Oak Ridge and 6.9 miles from Riverdale for a total of 478.7 miles. Mr. Childress might say things like this in the Tennessean and not expect people like me to check his numbers, but I have. I am sure there MUST be some other explanation. Let's look at Lincoln Co's distance from the teams in Quad 3 excluding Oakland. 56.9 miles from Smyrna, 50.3 miles from Blackman, 84 miles from Overton, 85.8 miles from McGavock, 80.5 miles from Brentwood, 75 miles from Mt. Juliet and 63.6 miles from Franklin. For a total of 496.1 miles. So the explanation is not there either. So not only is the TSSAA map different from mine, so is their calculator. Some how in the office 629 < 478.7 and 629 < 496.1 Probably should have put that quote in the paper about picking RHS for that reason.
  2. You have no logic. In no seeded tournament should the best teams have to knock off each other first, now you may differ about who you think they best teams are, but that's the WHOLE POINT OF SEEDING is to separate the best teams. That's what it's for. How would my logic claim Whitehaven could have won the title? BTW, did you know District 7AAA was ranked as one of the top 10 in the USA? Probably not, but I am sure you do not care. Just pointing out history. Which you seem to not care for, unless it's the most recent champion....so just wait another month. Please go on the record, who is your team? Quad 4 doesn't want Brentwood, Franklin, Overton and McGavock.....and really it should be 2, 4, 6, and 8 if you wanted it to be fair, but nobody in the TSSAA office wants the tournament to be fair, that's obvious
  3. I'll agree that Lincoln Co is South of Blackman and Oakland, but by the TSSAA map they are farther west. Nobody will convince me that Lincoln Co fits "better" in quad 2 than quad 3. Childress said in Tennessean (http://www.highschoolsports.net/local/Nashville/article/Criticism-of-high-school-football-playoffs-remains/) that they took Riverdale into Quad 2 because they were closer to the other 7 schools than any other Rutherford Co Team. 4. I do believe they get a set amount, at one time that came after the TSSAA cut I think, but I am not sure now, but they do get reimbursed.
  5. Hmm, never thought about that, but it played out best for them, didn't it?
  6. Easier said than done, teams can't just pick up another team, that other team has to agree to in, and that is the problem!
  7. I was thinking the other day, if they let everyone in, that's about the only way to make it fair about who gets in. And the tea party, if fans boycotted the 1st round of all playoff games, that's HALF the money, but not worth it to the kids...
  8. Thanks, I do thing it's the best playoff bracket.
  9. Problem with the system is now that they balance travel 1st and seed 2nd, so I was just playing around with the playoff teams and seeding them 1st and balancing travel 2nd, of course some teams are going to have to travel a little farther, BUT it makes a better tournament. I tried to "balance" them from a competition standpoint, which should be the top priority in my opinion, not travel time, or money.
  10. Thanks for the Objectivity and no offense to your team, and at least you believe me about that certain other team because you know how they are. Anyway props to your team, and good luck in the playoffs.
  11. I am HONESTLY mad for everyone in Quad 3 actually.
  12. YES, but the home team gets 100% of the concession stand money, that's a lot! And the TSSAA share aside, the extra game is extra money the losing team doesn't get.
  13. When more playoff games = more money for your program, you see why it does indeed matter if you play them 1st round or 2nd round, and if they are at home or on the road....
  14. Hey, feel lucky, 8-2 got Overton a 7 seed, and 7-3, undefeated in district champion, and 3 losses to 3 other teams in your Quad got Brentwood an 8 seed!
  15. Higher seed if I am not mistaken until the semi finals, then even quads if the seeds are the same. Meaning under this system, if the Quad 2/3 fiasco had happened in Quad 1/3 that Oakland or Blackman would have to play AT Riverdale if they played in a Semi-Final, luckily that can't happen since it's quad 2 and 3, but that scenario could happen in Quad 1/2 or Quad 3/4 someday.
  16. Or just have 3 playoff tournaments. They would get 3 extra games, and would be more fair when picking the teams since they all play each other in the regular season. Would have to start the regular season a week earlier, but most teams already do, and have no bye week.
  17. Its a shame Maryville will have to play DB before the semifinals though. Anyway, the Quad 3 winner isn't necessarily going to win it all. It's kinda like the reason NBA and MLB play series in the playoffs. In 1 game anything can happen, so just because you come out of the toughest Quad doesn't mean you will win your semi-final or championship game, just means you had the toughest road to get there and have proven yourself against those teams.
  18. What grade are you in? So, you would agree that all districts are equal? I am asking your opinion, not what you think mine is? How good is this team I am describing? And btw, white station better shine that ball up real good, because people like yourself wont care about it in 5 more weeks, like you obviously don't care about the past 8, just the past 1. So enjoy it for another month. I am done talking with you, you obviously can't show objectiveness, just look at the Maryville people, they know the truth about the way the Quads played out this year. Only think Memphis doesn't have to worry about it, they will always be west, so you could care less.
  19. They do, but honestly, i could care a less it being Oakland, I hate it for EVERY team in Quad 3. Maryville should have been in Quad 2 along with Oakland and Blackman, and Oak Ridge in 1 and Lincoln co in Q3.
  20. Actually Maryville beat 1 middle Tennessee team because of the way the playoffs are now set up. Tell me how many state championships Rutherford Co, let alone middle TN has in the past 8 years. Lets see, Oakland is going to KY, Riverdale is going to KY next year, Franklin went to KY this year, Oakland and Smyrna are playing one of the best private school in the state. I'll tell you how they get people to play them, they play whoever will play them, they don't have many options under this playoff format. Anyone who didn't see scheduling would be a difficulty for the top teams when this playoff system came out just has no foresight at all. And it will get even worse. Hope the TSSAA likes it when the best teams end up paying smaller schools to come take a loss, like the NCAA. Talk about inflating your record, come have some money and give us a win, then we'll get in the playoffs. See it has already created a bad system. It's a GREAT system under 2 assumptions. #1 all districts are equal and #2 all non district schedules are equal. I think we would all agree these 2 things are not true. Therefore it's not a great system. By the way, let your coach know the invitation is open, I am sure you already have.
  21. Quad 3 fans should all go to the games this week and watch from outside the fence!
  22. I understand, but those games aren't guaranteed games, and quad 2 has absolutely no game 3 weeks in the future that is intriguing.
  23. The map, blah blah, when you seed "Geographically" shouldn't you look at a map!?! And I was comparing Boise to the other areas of the state that don't play the tougher competition, not to the middle...come on. By the way, I think Boise is the best TEAM in the country right now, but that has nothing to do with their schedule. How many middle TN teams did White Station beat to win heir trophy? OK OK, a certain 8-2 6A football team was called and asked about scheduling a home and home (yes, this means that Oakland would travel to Memphis, for a return game in Murfreesboro) and they were laughed at at the very idea they would think about playing a team the caliber of Oakland. You can believe it or not but it's the truth. It has happened several times across the state actually.
