  1. So it looks like the border between Quad 1 and 2 was based on an East/West line (hence Maryville in Quad 1) yet the line between Quad 2 and 3 was not...
  2. This is the way it use to be in the days of A, AA, and AAA (but there was no seeding) and you could not play a team from your district until the state semi finals. And the games got father away, theoretically, every week.
  3. BTW, try playing the toughest competition during the regular season and getting no reward for it, having to play the same teams all over again, or not even getting in, and there sits 3-7 Coffee Co against one of the weaker schedules in the state in the playoffs in probably the easier quadrant. So there you go!
  4. Maryville DID actually win it last year, didn't they? When was the last time either of these teams won a state championship at the highest level?
  5. I remember the days where 2 teams got in and you didn't play a team from your district until the state semi finals....so what are you saying? In Tennis only 1 team advances, so it's not like we don't have this format in other sports currently.
  6. So you honestly can look at that map and say that Lincoln Co fits better geographically with the 7 teams in Quad 2 than the 8 teams in Quad 3? We know teams like Dickson Co and Oak Ridge are almost always going to be on the borders between quads, BUT there is nowhere else to put them, this is not the case with Lincoln Co. Its much easier to get from Lincoln Co to Franklin, Nashville, Murfreesboro than it is to Cleveland, Cookeville, and Oak Ridge. Now not saying it isn't a good trip from Oakland to Oak Ridge or Cleveland, but not any more so time wise, especially with how close Murfreesboro is to I24 and 840 and how close Fayetteville is to i65. Looking at the map I can see how people could think Maryville should have gone quad 2 and oak ridge quad 1, and I think I might be on their side of this one.
  7. right, my point was that Tommy called one school and got laughed at. This school is in the playoffs too, so its not like they are a weaker Memphis team. Actually, I challenge the 8 Memphis playoff teams to each schedule 1 team from Oakland, Riverdale, Blackman, and Smyrna...heck I'll even toss Siegel to them as well for the next 2 seasons.
  8. I would think Blackman might have the toughest time scheduling opponents next year. Surely Cane Ridge and Station Camp will not reschedule them. I will be surprised if Lincoln Co and Brentwood continue playing as many Rutherford Co teams. Brentwood might be in the same boat though, and be forced to.
  9. By the way, why would a west TN football coach of a 6A playoff team laugh at Coach McDaniel when he called to try to schedule a game for next year? Maybe you should have your coach call Coach McDaniel at Oakland for a regular season game!
  10. I put together a bracket on this (seeded them in groups of 4, like NCAA basketball tourney) then placed them geographically, shifting a few seeds, check out the post "6AAA playoffs if RandyMc was in charge" It's a better tournament.
  11. Yes, he did. Predicting this, based on what TSSAA had projected in the past, not what the TSSAA SHOULD do based on their rules. Big difference....and Tom and I are friends, so that is no disrespect to him.
  12. District 7AAA should just play everyone in their district twice next year....I think they should. I know OHS is having a hard time finding games, and I am sure the same can be said for BHS, RHS, and SHS. Who didn't see this coming 2 years ago.....TSSAA?
  13. In any tournament you SEED to give the better teams the higher chance of advancing. This is not the case for TSSAA, so they should not use the word Seed, because they seed SECOND, and not FIRST. Would you argue that Boise deserves to be in the BCS championship game if it happened today? I would. And, please look at the map and tell me how Lincoln Co belongs in quad 2 but Oakland or Blackman do not? I'll be waiting your reply.
  14. Of course it's better when under the old rules, Coffee Co would have been 1 or 2 seed....but it's still terrible! Look at Quad 3, compare it to the other Quads and tell me it's all fair. Travel time = $$$ and travel time being minimized at the cost of the best tournament you can have. Can't have it both ways.
  15. I think I am going to boycott this game, wouldn't want TSSAA to their $4 share of my ticket cost, I will send Franklin and Oakland their $2 though.
  16. IF you are balancing Quads based on district finish, if you are going with Geography it should have been Oakland.
  17. Except for the fact every Quad can't look like that when you pick 32 out of 50 something teams.....it's impossible, or should I say very highly unlikely.
  18. My map has Oakland farther East than Riverdale.....and Oakland, Riverdale, and Blackman farther East than Lincoln Co....
  19. Agree, there is something about the Geography of the State of TN that has changed every time I look at the map. I'll try to get our Geography teacher to explain it to me on Monday. Lincoln Co should be in Quad 3 no questions asked, which team to be moved out of Quad 3 is debatable. But there is one fact about Quad 3....there are only 7 losses to teams that aren't in Quad 3 amongst the teams in Quad 3! That's less than 1 loss per team against teams that they don't have to play all over again....that seems really fair.
  20. Congratulations Oakland, your 1st, and most likely only, home playoff game in 2 years. Congratulations on your 18 wins in those 2 years too!
  21. That's something I didn't think about. Because they alternate who hosts each year if the seeds are the same, you have the potential to NEVER host a semifinal football game in this format if you are the same seeds and you happen to be on the wrong side of the E/W line!
  22. No doubt, I am not disagreeing with that, but Smyrna did get the higher seed, Riverdale the easier road maybe. Again, how Lincoln Co is better in Quad 2 because of geography means someone can't read a map. 65 wins out of 72 possible wins (when you look at the 8 games already played between the teams in quad 3) that's less than 1 loss per team in Quad 3 vs teams not in Quad 3...seems fair enough.
  23. Say it correct though, Smyrna got a top seed.
  24. My 1st reply is HOW do you put Oakland, Blackman, and Smyrna in Quad 3 and Lincoln Co into Quad 2!
