  1. Yeah Baker has played big in many games and every kid has a bad night or two. He played O.K. but I am proud of the other kids stepped up.
  2. I will try sledghammer. Cascade jumped out early like it seems to me every game has gone this year. We were down in the 1st around 8 or 10 points. We managed get close several times but Cascade had a good game plan and hit a lot of big shots. Smith was unstoppable in the middle tonight, I think he ended up with 30 plus and several boards. We still missed several free ones from the line again. Cascade is better than some give them credit for they are a little bigger than Forrest I think and have some speed. We managed to squeak one out tonight. Baker had an off night tonight seemed not to have the energy or something but Wheeler stepped up big tonight and hit a crucial 3 and 2 big free throws down the wire. Also would like to mention Sullivan played well tonight. I was expecting more but it was still a win.
  3. Does MTCS have anything this year?
  4. I don't think that Jogles meant anything bad Vikings6 other than calling community fans boneheads. I am sure he doesn't know all the Community fans and he shouldn't have wrote that. You like everyone else has that right to pull for your team and state how you feel. Language like that does get boards closed where we all evidentaly like getting on here and talking to each other and giving each other a hard way to go at times. Although when it's all said and done we should pull for each other against games that doesn't affect us no matter if its a rival team or not. I hope the Vikings and the Champions has a great season and wins most of their games. I do hope that the 4 strongest teams from our District goes to Regionals but that is what upsets are for. Good luck to both Cascade and Community.
  5. A lot of games to be played and so many things can change a season. Van Buren handled the full court pressure of Forrest pretty well last night. Forrest just didn't have an answer on the inside they are little but they can shoot and are really fast. I haven't seen any other D-9 teams play this year. Does anyone have any unbiased picks for this district? I think Van Buren is capable of beating any team they step on the floor with, not to say they will but they do have the talent. They got a little rattled in the past against good defensive pressure but this year they seem to maintain their composure. Once some of the boys that hasn't got much experience in the past gets in a little better goove we should do just fine. If Community is planning on taking a game from Forrest they are capable of taking one from VB also, but they better come to play.
  6. A great win for the Eagles tonight. I thought we had a few chances to put them away in the late third or early fourth period but With Forrest refusing to quit and over 20 missed foul shots game was close. Forrest has a great coach and fast players. It will be tough to beat them at Chapel Hill.
  7. They put up big numbers usually. They rebound well, go about 8 or 9 deep and are improving in transition. The past few years they have been strong in the half court set but have stepped it up this year. I would like to see better defense which wins games. Friday night we have a match up between what looks to be a defensive team againt a offensive team. Only time will tell if they can compete at a higher level. I will say this one positive thing that I have said many times before, they are well disciplined and are very good sports. They seem not to let adversity get in their way of showing sportsmanship. I am proud of their winning attitude and how they treat other players from opposing teams. Win or lose I am happy for them. My opinion from the stands.
  8. If Community wins the District it will suprise alot of people, including me. Comparing games so far it looks as if the same 4 teams that were on top last year is still there. It would be hard not to pick Cascade, Eagleville, Forrest, and Van Buren coming out of D-9. Van Buren plays Forrest Friday night. This should let these two teams know a little about how they stack up. Good luck to all teams.
  9. Van Buren won by 8 or so after being down all the first half. Clarkrange has several good athletes and should make some noise in their district if they can stay out of foul trouble. The Upchurch boy has a smooth shot. Good luck on the rest of your season.
  10. Does anyone know where the Ex-Coach from Community ended up, or is he even coaching this year?
  11. I heard the Upchurch boy was a offensive threat. I looked on the Tennessean and saw where he has been the only one putting up big numbers maybe we can slow him down. We have a few boys putting up numbers at different times so maybe we can take this game.
  12. It has been a while since we have played Clarkrange and I don't know anything about this team. Can we compete? Game is Saturday night on the mountain.
  13. I like the up tempo also, they have changed their style some this year and are putting up alot of points. The Tennesseean posted Smith with 29 points, Baker with 28 points and 12 rebounds, Farris with 17, Hillis with 8. There are alot of players scoring which is always a bonus. Someone said after the game last night that in their 4 games this year Baker has 108 points, and Smith has 78 so they must like the run and gun style. Bledsoe was down around 20 late but made a little charge. I am proud of our team, but their is alot of Bball to be played. In a couple of games we will get into District play and we can tell a little more of who will be and who will not. Good luck VB.
  14. Will VB rebound from last nights loss?
  15. I agree, it was beautiful. It gave me goose bumps. Great job ladies.
  16. We came back and beat Clay County last night, we started a little slow but ended the game strong. We are deep on the bench this year which helps out alot. Seems Coach isn't afraid to put in subs at crucial points which means he has confidence in his bench. It is still way early in the season to make any kind of judgement on championships or anything like that but so far I like this team and their chemistry.
  17. I was wondering where all the Viking fans were usually they are on here pumped up for the season. That was a good post, you stated why you think the way you do. VB is better in transition than they have been in the past. We have handled the press well so far, first against Dekalb County then against Temple, we were able to get out and run and have gotten several points in transition. We have a quicker team this year but we still have our strong half court set. You may be correct in your breakdown of the District, but I hope your wrong. Good luck to you this year and like you with everyone except VB.
  18. Didn't a good Tullahoma team lose to Grundy county by ten at Tullahoma?
  19. Seventieseagle what do you think about us now? Can we do some damage in the District? Maybe further? Anyone else have any opinions?
  20. Yeah right! Every coach, player and fan wants to win every game. It doesn't matter if you count the HOF game or not in the players mind they either win or loose. You are correct that coaches may take a few more chances than they will in a district championship game, the whole season is like that, just trying to get ready for the District, Region, and State Tournament. The team goal is to get a few upsets, try not to get upset and move on to the next round. Every good team with good coaches does the same thing. Every game matters. Forrest may do some damage this year and I say they will because they are well coached and have most if not all of their talent returning. It is hard to win it all with all the quality programs out there. I watch pre-season football they usually take their starters out after a couple of series and put in players that are trying to get a job doing something. They don't run starters in and out. Maybe I am the one with messed up thinking but it matters to me if we win or loose.
  21. Well I will try. Someone may be able to do better because I was kind of into the game after the 1st period. Temple jumped on VB early with a blanket press that we handled O.K. but it caused us to hurry and put up bad shots and caused a few turnovers that we shouldn't have made. You know just trying to get rid of a hot potato, bouncing it off other players head and such. Temple on the other hand took good open shots and hit the boards better than VB. AT one point in the first VB was down by 12 or 14 and I thought here we go, the rout is on. In the second period VB tightened their Defense, settled down their Offense, and outscored Temple in the second with Baker hitting a big three to end the half. In the Third I beleive VB may have taken the lead or cut it to a point or so, in the fourth the game was back and forth. VB had a shot with around 9 seconds left to win the game but missed, then Temple I beleive missed with around 2 seconds left. Instant energy came when Baker went down the lane with three defenders around him and slammed one home, and to be honest I don't know if it was in the forth or in overtime, its hard to remember when your a fan and not breaking it down. In overtime Temple pulled out the win. Fans that came to this game got their money worth with free Basketball, good Defense, big three pointers, a dunk, some good athletes, and alot of fun. In the end we lost but it was still a good game.
  22. Van Buren beat Temple tonight pretty bad. I don't know by how many points but it was pretty ugly. They have one girl from Temple that is solid but they just wasn't stong enough to handle VB.
  23. Temple won by 4 in OT. It was a fun game to watch.
