  1. That is right Sledge. I am glad the games aren't played on these boards, some folks out there are hard core. If we do what we are capable of we may come out of there with the win. It should be a good game.
  2. Marion is a young team like the earlier poster said, they show talent in spurts and also have a Sophmore guard that can play (better not give him breathing room). Their big men are tall but lack weight, Pikeville should dominate down low. I think this is a rivalry game and all opinions go out the window some times no matter the talent and experience in these types of games. Could be a good game and don't count them out if your up big early Pikeville you better keep throwing the wood to them. They are not the previous years team, they keep fighting. Good luck to both teams.
  3. He played a great game and I hope he has many more but I will say he will be the first to tell you its not just about him, its about the team. I know him and I have watched him play for years and the one thing that stands out to me is his expression seems to never change no matter the circumstance. If he isn't having one his best games he keeps trying his hardest to do what is best for the team. It's about VB to him if he plays well it benifits the team and that is what it should be about. Good luck Darrin I think you are a great ball player, keep hitting them boards.
  4. I am not bashing Shankle I know he is good, I am glad he is playing like he is. I'm also not trying to offend you or any of the Forrest faithful. I am for any D-9 team and player as long as they are not playing VB. I know everyone doesn't feel this way but I do. To say no one can stop him is saying alot and you may be right I don't know I haven't seen many of the others play this year.
  5. I don't believe anyone really thinks that Shankle doesn't have it going on. Anyone that has seen him play knows he is a force. I hope Forrest has more than just him on the team, but he seems to be the only player you talk about. I am sure he has worked for what he has, but there are other players besides him or they wouldn't be winning like they are. As far as the boy from VB goes, which one are you talking about we put more than one on the floor? That's why it is called a team sport it's not about me its about us. I think it will be a good game, I think we can win, I know no matter what happens we will play with class and respect like we always do. Good luck to you rocket fans I really enjoyed the great games we had against each other last year and hope we can expect more of the same this year.
  6. He is around 6'3" with probably some growing to do. He has had 3 or 4 games with over 20 points and seems to always be working on the boards for the rebound, Plus he can jump pretty good. I have watched him play and watched him get stronger each year. He seems also to have a great work ethic, he may even sleep at the gym, or would probably if they would let him.
  7. You can check out VB Tuesday night at home against Marion County, but I guess you may have more urgent business Tuesday night, I would like to see you guys and Forrest square off. It should be a good game. I don't really know about the Eagleville and MTCS match-up it may not even be close. Fresh probably won't even post about Shankle. So I better hold on to my pennies and not take it to the bank yet.
  8. I might have to agree with you since your last prediction on the D-9 matchups were so close. Have you seen any of these teams play? On the real side I know you are just posting to get a conversation started, because I have been to every one of the VB games for the past several years and I have no idea what other teams this year hold (With the exception of Cascade) don't think they lost anyone from last years squad. You can always count on the solid teams to be competitive, sure there are down years but for the most part the coaching will keep them in games. You may be right this time on these predictions I don't know, but we will see. Another question for you. Were you at the MTCS and VB game?
  9. Is it just me or does anyone else want all the calls to go my teams way? Maybe the Vikings are better than you give them credit for? I have seen some officials I thought should be calling little league games, but most of the time they do pretty good. I wouldn't have their job and I yell like most everyone else does at them but a good team has to overcome a bad call here and there. Just because you didn't clear your bench doesn't mean anything except it must have been closer than the experts predicted. Hang in there community. Good luck to both of you in the district.
  10. Correct. I think the younger players are stepping up which is going to help us in future games. I guess several teams in single A have to deal with this also. I think the Eagles played well tonight the coaching staff adjusted and we pulled away at the end. We should be O.K. in our district but it is still early. I also believe that MTCS will make some noise. When I first looked at them while they were warming up I thought they were in big trouble. They are well coached and have a couple of solid shooters, plus they have size and rebound. Sorry for the disrespect MTCS I think you have a good team.
  11. Maybe Community will stay in the game. I know there is a lot of talk coming from that area. As for the MTCS and VB match up maybe VB can get lucky on the road and pull the upset? Hard to say who will win if you haven't seen the other team play. I have no predictions on either of the D-9 match ups. I will tell you this about VB, it shows signs of being a good team, getting some valuable playing time for some boys that hasn't seen many quality minutes will make this team better as the year progresses. They have lost two games against two AA schools by a total of 4 points. Seems we have a chance but just haven't made it over the edge yet. I believe we will see some good match ups this year, or at least I hope so. Good luck to D-9 who ever is playing.
  12. It is sad when a program is down. You have to admire a team that keeps their head up during the tough times. Maybe things will change for the Warren County program. I know we always enjoyed playing them, always had a packed gym. A true fan will stick it out no matter what win or loose. I hope they get things on track down there.
  13. Great game for the lady Eagles, they pretty much dominated from the 2nd quarter on.
  14. No doubt JJ Grissom from VB. I believe she is a Freshman but maybe a Sophmore. No matter she is a player.
  15. Yes, Van Buren has also taken this approach of playing stiffer competetion early. With schools from AA and AAA. We have a few issues to work out ourselves, but all in all we have done pretty well. Lost 2 tough games to AA schools and had several opportunities to win both of them. I do hope we (D-9) does well in the Regions this year, last year was kind of a bad for us.
  16. With a few games played so far in this young season, how does D-9 look at this point? It was really hard for me to make any judgements before I saw a game, Is anyone besides Community happy at this point of the season?
  17. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We have alot to be thankful for. Plus we have High School Basketball.
  18. It was sweet. He really hammered it down, and he stayed out of foul trouble. I am glad he had a good game, he has a great turn about him. I am glad we have a few days to rest. We are fixing to be traveling many miles in our District play. Good luck in your next game.
  19. Congradulations Bledsoe. A good game to watch. Could have went either way. But it is Bledsoe with the win. Look foward to seeing you on the mountain.
  20. None of my business but Warren scouts teams, I am sure someone in their program has already seen you play. I don't know if Dekalb scouts or not. There is always game tape that gets spread around by other coaches. VB had DC in season play and played Warren in a scrimmage and lost to both. So an outsider looking in I would say it will be a close game either way. Should be a good game to go and watch.
  21. Been awhile so I really can't remember a number, maybe #51? Norris rings a bell though. If it is Norris he will be a big loss for you guys. But the show must go on and others will have to step it up. Good luck to you guys in the District.
  22. Thanks Bledsoebtheboys'. I hope you guys win the rest of your games with the exception of the two against VB of course. If you see Thomas before I do wish him the best from the boys from the Mountain. By the way how did you get that Kentucky picture on your screen do you have to be a most valuable player?
  23. Anytime you loose talent like VB has lost over the last couple of years it hurts, but it is part of the High School experience. It also makes room for others to shine and show how much they have improved. I think the players we have are getting stronger and you can see the work some of them have put forth is starting to pay off. As for the coach it is my opinion that he has always been a good coach he is no longer a freshman himself. 20 plus wins in the last two seasons is a great accomplishment for both players and the coaching staff. I believe it is a combination of coaching, talent, and fan support. I think we will do fine against the valley and against a tough District.
