  1. That is what I was hinting at but thanks for clearing it up. I'm not sure if tuition is free for employees kids or just reduced. Hopefully someone else does?
  2. Let me clear this up for all the people on here who think they know what they are talking about. The Church of Christ is non denominational. Trust me, I have grown up in probably the oldest Church of Christ in the Murfreesboro area and my dad is deacon. I have been at church just about every Sunday since I was born, 18 years ago. If you were to ask anyone who has been raised properly in the church and attends regularly you would get the same answer. That being said, as one of the senior football players at Smyrna, I have not been assured of anything. I can see a few reasons why he might leave, MTCS tuition is not cheap by any means and both of his daughters attend school there. However, the private school salary for a teaching job is not near that of public schools. The only way I see him leaving is if the booster club for MTCS would be contributing some extra incentive to make up for the paycut. I don't think that is probable, therefore I think Coach Shad will be staying at Smyrna. Also you have to consider that he played for Smyrna and has brought our program from obscurity to one of the states powerhouses. He has what he has always said is his dream job. Oh and Smyrna is still loaded even with Sonny, Rod, and the rest of our seniors leaving. 3-peat???? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. NOTE: I dont know if anyone mentioned this yet but if I am not mistaken the 5A Championship Game last year broke all previous attendance records. A dominating 3/4s of the crowd was glad in purple and gold. I don't think your 1,000+ fans will mean much as we are well accustomed to having 5,000-6,000 at our lesser attended home games. Not accounting to the fact that Smyrna is about 15 minutes from the Boro. Trust me you won't have a bigger crowd so dont worry about that.
  4. It never ceases to amaze me. You are incredibly ignorant and still a sore loser from last years semi-final. Don't all teams use their bands and announcers to fire up the crowd? Isn't that a part of HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE. You are a disgrace to all other Ooltewah fans, who show class and integrity. As to Bearden I look foward to a good game and we will leave it all out there on the field, as I'm sure you will as well.
  5. Thats right. We wouldn't. All of his responses were based on insults directed towards our team. How can you fault someone for defending a team where his sons have played for numerous years. "The Squad" you are pathetic and this is coming from a teenager. So if you have to talk bad about one of our biggest supporters, I think that makes you the childish one. We got your back 82CAT!
  6. You've either never seen Riverdale play or you've completely lost your mind.
  7. Wow thats mindblowing that Vandy out of all people left out Sonny Gray.
  8. It's not Maryville. It could be Alcoa or Brentwood Academy, but I'm just guessing.
  9. Ha... yea I know they are not that bad. But they got drilled by Gallatin after sticking with them until the fourth quarter, in which they started only down by two and ended up losing by about twenty. Probably one of the worst games I have ever watched. The officiating was absolutly horrible but poor shot selection and lack of effective coaching I think is the main problem. By the way, number 5 on gallatin marsallous malone or whatever his name is, he is a beast. I wonder what his vertical is. That kid can get up there.
  10. I wouldn't know that is the only game I have missed besides the christmas tournament, I was going off what EP told me so idk. We will see on Tuesday what kind of fire power Smyrna has. Obviously we had enough to beat WC just like you did. However, home court advantage DOES make a big difference in my opinion
  11. So i was just wondering, why can we manage to lose to all these teams LaVergne beats. LaVergne is ranked in the top ten. The usually have a pretty good team, and yet somehow that is always the game that Smyrna can win. I mean sure we can beat someone every now and then, but why can't we play against everyone else like we do against LaVergne? Just give me your opinions.
  12. See and then next Tuesday we have the rematch of Smyrna vs. MJ. I don't think Jasmine White played in the first one for Smyrna. Plus someone already said its taken some time for the younger players starting for smyrna to adjust. Smyrna has only one senior on the starting lineup (others 2 juniors, 2 sophmores), so look for them to make some noise for the next couple of years. The way the districts are set up in basketball is because there are more schools that have basketball teams then schools that have football teams. In football all the teams from Rutherford Co. along with W.C. and Lebanon are in the same region.
  13. The Maryville guy is right. Smyrna will NOT be playing Maryville in '07. We tried to schedule them but they already had a full schedule or didn't want to play us away, something like that. Anyways Smyrna still has an opening for a home game but I'm not sure what week it is.
  14. To restate what someone already said "to be the best you have to beat the BEST" That's why we are playing Maryville this year. We will see who's the best when we play them.
  15. Region 4 and 6 are undoubtably the best. No disrespect to Ootlewah, you guys earned my respect for East Tennessee. Riverdale-- stop whining, you lost, its over. However for someone to say that Ootlewah, William Blount, and Dobyns Bennett beat up on each other and thats why you didn't win in the playoffs, get a clue. Look at Smyrna and Riverdales schedules, region opponents and non region, all were solid if not great teams. Riverdale played McCallie, Lincoln County, and Dickson County. Smyrna played Brentwood, Ravenwood, and Columbia. Now Smyrna lost 49-0, then won 9-7. That shows in Region 4 anyone can win on any day. You have to play every game. We didnt play the first game, we got killed. We stepped up and played the second time and won. Also three teams from Region 4 have won a State Championship in the last ten years. Region 6 also has two teams that have won the gold ball in the last ten years. Brentwood Academy won it when they were part of 5A too. So if you want to compare to the SEC, Region 4 or 6 should definately be the ones who "beat up on each other," and yet we still find ways to win. Now, back to the subject of this. The team(s) to beat next year will be: Smyrna - We are defending State Champions first of all. Second, we are returning several starters and key playmakers. Most of the backups who will play next year started at least one game and got significant playing time. Ootlewah - They only lost by 3 in the Semifinals in a game that went down to literally the last second. They are also returning 15 starters. Riverdale - They are always good even if it's supposed to be a rebuliding year. The Wing-T, when run right, is very hard to stop. White Station - Not sure again, but they are all the hype according to West Tennesseans.
