I am looking forward to tonights game and visiting the SP concession stand again. Let me give you folks a tip...a few years ago I went to Grundy for a football game and they had white beans and cornbread...best concession stand ever! Maybe the Ambassador with all his pull can upgrade the concessions at the Pitt.

You know OP I used to get a kick out of your posts and admired your affection for SPHS but now I see you for nothing more than a 2nd rate joke. Who are you to question the ability of a man who has won more games and awards than you have skillet shots to the head? Not to mention this man helped your school out of a bind when others would not . I will agree he is not a baseball man but to question his basketball skills as a coach is insane. Could you be talking about the same guy I am thinking of who has over 370 wins...3 state tourney appearences....had both his boys and girls teams in the final 8 in MS and was named recently as South MS COY? Refresh my memory but didn't he help those SP folks out when nobody would touch that baseball team last year because they were young? I just wonder what he would have done with the Pirate basketball program had he stayed on? Lots of folks I know in Jasper are speculating on just how good they would be now.

With no doggie in the fray except a liking for OP and some friends in Jasper I am going to say this has all the earmarks of an upset special. Pirates seem to be down and out without direction and purpose...that is why I say SP by 11.

Jeremy Sexton can flat out play plus he is a fine young person.

OP...one of these Sat AM's I am gonna have to drive across the time line and have a cup of hot joe with you...that is if your wife will let you out of the house. Now I don't usually offer an opinion on what is wrong with a program of any kind...usually just what is right. The right things take care of themselves and the wrong things usually stay wrong until they get right. I follow Temple since my son is in school there. They seem to be doing the right stuff. I will tell you what my son and his coherts say about the SP basketball situation. They believe they have great talent and potential but they question committment to basketball or anything else except football. That is only natural taking into consideration the great success the Pirate football program has had over the years. Maybe it is a lack of focus...or motivation. I have watched them play a few times over the years and they just seem to lack awareness and purpose. Did SP have some great teams 30 years ago? Is that coach still around? Maybe he could provide you with some valuable insight if he is.

OP you must be bored. Yes they have talent. Yes they could win alot of games this year. Yes they will wilt like a "flower in the desert sun". Gotta have discipline at the top. That is where it begins. Same thing could be said for Marion Co. They better stick to football over there in Pirateland.

I am not that familiar with the school system in MC so I would not venture to speculate on reasons other than athletics for their departure. My children all went to Soddy Daisey and I have one at Temple now. There is no connection there other than working with a couple of folks from Jasper. I was simply posing a question on why student/athletes would move from one school to another that are only 4 or 5 miles apart?

I am not a baseball fan so I don't understand that. Isn't Henegar a basketball first guy? I don't know this other kid so baseball may have been his #1 priority...I know it is Guyer's. SC win over CCS was early and a fluke...they couldn't touch them now. SC doesn't even enter into the equation.

OP...I would think that in order to better understand your dilema there at SP it would be important to not dwell on the fact that they "jumped" the fence but rather the reason(s) they straddled to begin with. Marion Co is not exactly the UConn of high school basketball so my question is why would they make a lateral move? Maybe the girls are prettier at MCHS...maybe there is another reason. Indian I would think MC could compete with everyone here other than maybe Howard or Temple on the lower levels...and possibly Tyner as well.

I would agree with your statement OP. I don't have a doggie in the hunt but I would say Marion is awfully good as a Valley team goes...probably the only one who can compete with the good lower level teams over here. My question is why do you want to tweek the nose of a team that has potential when the only "quality" win you have is over a 6-9 Silverdale squad by 6? Better stay quiet Pirate fans.
