  1. I think they were wrong to dismiss the coach with three games left but is zoning and private school recruiting really something new? My guys played at Centennial and when my oldest was a 9th grader, they had 30+ kids on the freshmen team. Independence opened the following fall and they lost about half the team to the new school. And does anyone remember a Vol linebacker named Ryan Karl? Lived in the heart of the CHS zone but went to BGA.
  2. Attended the Mt. Juliet/Centennial game last week and the Centennial scoreboard had been upgraded to include pitch count. I only saw a handful of games this year but that's the first scoreboard I've seen with that feature. Is that very common?
  3. Correct, on October 1st. Game is at Summit,
  4. Not sure. I wasn't able to attend the game but heard about it from some who were and then saw the newspaper description. That was my thought, that if the player hit was behind the line of scrimmage it would be considered partially blocked but the article says off the side of the foot and the ball went 18 yards (from the 29 and recovered at the 47). I'll try to get more details.
  5. This scenario played out in the Centennial/Franklin game Friday night. Did the refs get it right? Centennial coach was ultimately ejected for protesting the call. Centennial was faced with a fourth-and-23 at its own 29, but Carter Potts’ punt went off the side of his foot and hit Franklin’s Wyatt Harnage in the helmet, making it a live ball. The Cougars recovered at their own 47, but a discussion by the officials ruled that since there was no true change in possession and Centennial had not made the line to gain, the ball went over to Franklin.
  6. I was questioning his reading skills as well. Thanks for having my back.
  7. I live about ten minutes from Ravenwood so I know all about the school (and cost of housing). Brentwood and other Williamson County schools can offer many of the attributes you outline so again, why there? And BTW, do you think academics really played into their decision?
  8. Move for employment, yes, but the article seems to indicate they are moving to skirt the transfer rules. And why Ravenwood? Lots of quality schools/football programs much closer to Memphis.
  9. Not overly familiar with Centennial but noted they only lost to BA by four and won easily over Overton. What do they bring to the conference table this year?
  10. Centennial led Ravenwood, ranked #3 in the mid-state, 28-14 after 3Q but ran out of gas and got outscored 21-0 in the fourth. Depth obviously seems to be an issue and they need to improve their pass defense but they should be competitive at home.
  11. If he wasn't the former ST coach for the Titans, it wouldn't have been mentioned at all. I don't know how well his punter kicked all year but he sure had a tough night. CR has now wiped out Williamson County. Started with Centennial, then Bwood and now Rwood.
  12. Ravenswood is also a mansion located on Wilson Pike for which the high school was named. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenswood_(Brentwood,_Tennessee) As for the game, I think CR wins at home.
  13. You can bet Centennial will be the last. Went to baseball games there for several years and you couldn't see first base or the scoreboard because the dugouts were built in front of the bleachers, which were five rows of warped wood. A tornado damaged the dugouts one year so it literally took an act of God to get money for renovations.
  14. Just like UT last year, they are champions of life.
  15. Probably a bad choice of words. What I'm asking is if others complained, why would suspension be limited to the Wray brothers
  16. Again, has anyone other than the Wray family had an issue with this? If so, gives a little more credence to their complaint. If not, why would Webb single them out?
  17. But if Centennial beats Brentwood (and that's a big if), Centennial wins the conference due to their win over Ravenwood on opening night. On the other hand, if both Indy and CHS win tonight, Indy is conference champ since they beat Centennial.
  18. I have no dog in this hunt but am curious if anyone other than the Wray family has complained about an unsafe environment or Webb's practice habits.

  20. And just two years ago, Indy, Centennial and Ravenwood went a combined 41-3. Indy (5A champ) beat Centennial (5A semifinalist) twice and Centennial gave Ravenwood (6A champ) their only loss.
  21. Looks like you are on to something. Ravenwood won but gave up 42 points. Doubtful they can score 45 every week. Centennial got busted 56-21 at Hendersonville.
  22. Centennial needs to tackle better than they did at Ravenwood or it could be a long night.
  23. A little confused here. Do you mean Kriesky rode the momentum from Rector? You refer to Hester's teams but Kriesky is at Centennial and did not succeed Hester at Ravenwood. So, which team do you expect to be .500 or under for the year? Centennial has a killer schedule, (Indy, Cane Ridge, Riverdale, Brentwood, Franklin, etc) and Ravenwood appears to have some holes so neither team may get to five wins.
  24. I know nothing about the new Ravenwood coach but Kriesky did go 11-2 and to the 5A quarterfinals last year at Centennial. Could be a case of an ebb in the talent level as that can be cyclical at any school. For instance, I didn't see anyone on either side that could compete with the likes of Van Jefferson and Chris Rowland or Tyrell Dodson and Deon Sanders.
  25. They had some success with the read option, speed sweeps and short passes in the flat but not overly consistent. That might improve if they clean up some penalties. One running back appears allergic to contact and the QB looked very average throwing the ball. Put them up against a team that tackles well and they will struggle to score points.
