i totally agree with you on robbins the qb coach lod, you know the man has a wealth of knowledge about the game, and heck some of the current coaching staffs are all stars staffs if you go back a decade or so i graduated in 95 and you should see some of my pics of our coaching staff, my son plays middle school football and has more coachs now then we had on our high school team back in the day, im amazed how football has grown overall in such a short time in this county and how every friday is a big game with kids who know each other and have played with or against each other at one time or another

thanks for answering my question pbd, first off i asked you cause i know you have been around the blackman program through all the changes the past 5 or 6 years and really appreciate your opinion, i was just wondering cause they were at the bottom for so many years and shad goes their and its like over night the whole blackman community drunk the shaderade, i would agree with you in surronding himself with good coachs like mitchell, watson come to mind he had some good ones at smyrna with one ive already mentioned and keasler, carson and wyant along with bringing robbins in to work with sonny that is great to hear about coach williams and coach wells and how they still ask about the kids cause really that is what it is all about and having a teenage son myself has taught me that, and i think williams will be their a while but looking into the future because of the new school opening up and the feeder schools not producing it could be some rough years and i didnt realize the numbers were so low on the football team those blackman years after watching mathers go down and blackman almost winning was impresive, really played a team football game and should be proud cause 16 17 year old kids could have easily packed it up and said we cant win now

just wondering pbd in your opinion what has lead to blackman getting so much better the past few yrs? was it all shad and coaching, i wonder cause you got williams over at smyrna whos doing a good job and i remember when he first came over i was frustrated at times and vented on here and you spoke up and said that you thought alot of him and then you got wells at riverdale whos is doing a good job coaching the d or did shad hit the talent at the rite time

agreed, kreager was up til after 1am just giving us if the season ended friday all the match ups, i sure couldnt do all that adding 1+ stregth of schdule x division wins - hotdogs served + who has hot chocalete - coke vs pepsi products and the answer is lol

this topic makes me crack up! first off what cycles? rutherford cty is in the big game year after year! the only cycle is which rutherford cty team is gonna be in the big game!

oh yeah williamson cty ravenwood 0 rutherford cty oakland 49 tonight, congrats to oakland for getting their 6th win and becoming playoff eligable

you could even go back to 93, i had forgotten riverdale played in the championship game that year and lost to lincoln county so thats 15 of the past 18 years in the big game, see now i have forgotten more championship games then williamson county has won!!!

thanks for the correction patriotguy, i couldnt remember who oakland played in the 08 championship game off the top of my head, so 4 out of 5 games won by rutherford cty against williamson cty in the championship game and 14 of 17 yrs that rutherford cty has made an apperance in the big game......the poster who said williamson cty is better then rutherford cty please make the argument against those numbers

you keep hearing it cause its true! most of the schools you mention are private and recruit, here in rutherford cty the coachs coach up what they are given, since 94 rutherford cty has 8 state championships "riverdale 4, smyrna 2, oakland 2 and 6 runner ups riverdale 5, smyrna 1 and that adds up to rutherford cty being in the state championship 14 times over 17 years and knocking off your williamson cty schools 3 times along the way in the big game, riverdale over franklin in 04, smyrna over ravenwood in 06 and smyrna over indepence in 07 "which smyrna set a record for most points scored in the 5a championship game with 46", brentwood did beat riverdale in 02 ill give you credit for that...... ONE their was an article that came out last year that district 7-aaa was something like 8th toughest district in the country, not tennessee but in the country

agree with you on the refs, their were really ticky tack calls on both sides of the ball, from the first unsportsman like on riverdale to the second unsportsman like to cant even get to the next play with another flag for a sideline warning, i think their were more flags tonight then the first four games combined

i dont care if he did say something before the game it made maplewood players and most of all the coaches that were jumping up and down waving the towels look classless, the maplewood coaches should be ashamed of themselves for celebrating like that they should be the ones setting the examples to the kids and you dont wish injury on any kid playing the game, you take a knee and go to the next play, i know for me this will forever stick out in my mind of maplewood high school

why was the maplewood bench celebrating when brown went down in the 1st qtr?, did i miss something before then

thanks for posting that david, some new people on coacht think that its the booster clubs responsability for adding scoreboards, bleachers, concession stands and restrooms and they simply think that booster clubs should just go up on their memberships to accomplish this, for the most part the booster clubs are parents that have volunteered and have taken time out of our day for the most of us since our kids were 5 years old raising the money, to working concession stands in the youth league having car washes saleing smart cards what ever it took to make our kids friday night dreams come true! now something else these new people dont know is in the past what 10 years their has been 4 football stadiums built in rutherford county that are still being paid for, and these stadiums are new and nice and built for the size of these schools while smyrna and lavergnes are 23 years old now and was built for the smyrna and lavergne of 1988 and was planned yrs before then probably 85ish and anybody who has lived here their whole life know rutherford county has quadroupled since then, more rapidly then then rutherford board of education probably ever expected! i have heard after 06 they were going to add bleachers to visitor sides of smyrna and lavergne and like you said david it got voted out! again not the booster clubs responsability
