  1. "During the football season, the field gets torn and the soccer players deal with it"......that has to be the STUPIDEST thing I have seen written on this board!! Of course the field gets torn up duing the football season, it is a FOOTBALL field! As for soccer dealing with it, get off your butts and volunteer to work just one week with a football staff during the summer maintaining a field and you will understand why F.B. coaches are so protective of the fields....better yet, show up after soccer season ends and help repair and resod the bare spots in front of the nets, the sidelines, the middle of the field, etc..THAT would be something I have never seen before.

I saw where White County made a decent showing at the Riverdale powerlifting meet. The riverdale web sight said they finished 4th out of 7 teams and had 3 or 4 top 3 finishes. They had mostly freshmen and sophs. last year. It sounds like they finally may be on the right track to fix their program.
  3. Of course anyone can go...as for being nominated, I know of at least 2 parents who "nominated" their kids by internet. It is just a way to make 50 dollars off parents who think their kids can play college ball. The only schools there will be DII and DIII schools, maybe a few NAIA. Go participate but don't get too excited.
  4. It sounds to me like hes not liked by most of the teachers because hes not a local. Imagine that in a small town!! I agree with the other posts completely, Dan is a great person and I would love to work for or with him.
  5. I have no problem with a kid going to a batting cage with a few friends to hit, but the problem is that several coaches are requiring players to be there. They know that is is a TSSAA violation to require attendance but are making it clear to players that not showing up will hurt their playing time in the spring. That is the complaint from the gyms, coaches are holding playing time over the players heads if they don't show up. I know one coach that tried to force players to attend "open gym" after football practice. Let kids be kids and play every sport they can, most will never go beyond high school in athletics so let them enjoy their 4 years and stop pressuring them to be one sport athletes.
  6. There has been much talk about open gym taking athletes out of other sports to consentrate on basketball. Is it a problem in Baseball as well? I know of some teams already out 4 or 5 days a week working on infield and cut-offs. Of course no coaches are around...right!
  7. At what school systems are tax dollars used for athletics? All school athletic programs that I have been involved with live or die by gate revenue...usually football, paying the bills. Tax money has never bought a basketball uniform or helmet for me.
  8. What makes you so sure Cookeville will have such an easy time with White County? Cookeville has been beaten up some in their scrimmages and the level of competition at their jamboree tonight was a little weak for a 5A team, don't you think? White County may be weak but they are at least as good as the teams you played tonight.
