York is an above average talent in a down year for upper cumberland teams. When you look at their weak schedule (not sure anyone besides Dekalb has a winning record... ) you can't go by stats, especially when their coach leaves him in with running clocks. No way he is in the same league with Fulton, Alcoa, Greenville, etc, skill players and their much tougher schedules.

Conner York was in the game in the 4th against Gordonsville and scored the td that put them over the 50 mark. That's running it up and Gordonsville is not in the region so there was no payback for previous years. Moose is a class act and did not deserve that. Keep that in mind come next year, I'm sure he will

I am assuming that Upperman feels they the players coming the next few years to hold their own in the upper Cumberland. Everyone else seems to be rebuilding with young players and will remember upperman having York and company in the games late to pad their stats. Most coaches teach their team to act like they have been there before and try not to embarrass the other team or themselves by running up scores for stats. Scoring 60+ with a running clock is running it up by any definition.

don't tell me the tigers will be practicing plays and routes during the month of June.....that would be illegal:-)

Article in Free-Press says that they have to cancel spring practice and 2 scrimmages...who were they supposed to scrimmage with and how will that effect those 2 schools spring plans?

Ran into this a few years back when the district tourney was over in Sparta and checked it out. TSSAA says there is NO RESERVED SEATING allowed for tournament and sub-state games. Reserved season tickets and seats end with regular season,that is what you paid for. All seating is first come-first serve. That came straight from TSSAA. Some schools get around it by letting the local folks in early. If I were you monday, the tournament director would have to explain to me why I have to give up seats!

I have not seen Pickett play this year and don't know their record so I don't know what kind of pitching all those HR's and stat's came off of. I do know that J.C. see's everybody's best every night out. If Pickett is struggling in the w/l column, then you might be getting other teams younger pitchers who need work.. . especially outside the district. Not saying thats the case for P.C. but I'm sure all J.C. players stats are against everybodys #1

Why is Bledsoe left out

TSSAA policy says weightlifting and conditioning only. It sounds like you are doing routes and formations if "the ball is hardley ever on the ground". If the ball is out and coaches are working on board technique,formations, routes,etc... then you are definitly illegal.

I would think that your new coach would know that practice right now is illegal. There should be no balls out right now. conditioning an lifting only. Nice way to get started, breaking tssaa policy.

Rules violations ARE a big deal...especially in the off seasons. No one wants Sunbright or any other school to be in trouble, but saying its no big deal would not be the argument I would give the tssaa when they call...and I wouldn't try the excuse "we didn't know", they expect coaches and A.D.s to know policy. Read the rule posted above because someone will bring this to tssaa's attention.

I know that it has already been pointed out to you guys, but I will restate the obvious...if you worked with Karns and Cumberland, that will count as your two scrimmages. You are already in violation of tssaa policy with your Clay county scrimmage. Union will make 4 scrimmages for the spring and I would be suprised if someone has not already called tssaa on you. Please read the rule posted eariler.

I know that this is all speculation based on the first 8 weeks, but with 2 games left against GP and AE, does anyone think that Pigeon Forge (last wildcard spot right now ) stands a chance to get a wildcard at 4-6?

Tyner is in the eastern time zone, Jamestown is in central time zone. I would think that puts Tyner east for travel purposes. Just a thought.

About York i got them missing the wild Card to cannon and not making the Playoffs. York will have to win one of there 2 remaining District games to knock Cannon out of the playoffs but i dont see that happening. I have York finishing 6-4, but losing to Cannon earlier in the season would give Cannon the edge into the playoffs. No one Knows for sure. Cannon was going to be a qualifer for 3A even before they won last night over Smith. Any wildcard coming out of that district should be York. A York win over Smith Co. in week 10 could make them a qualifer and give Smith a wildcard. York and Smith should both make the play-offs. Still a LOT of football to be played before pairings are announced.

Districts will have nothing to do with it. Once they select the playoff field for a classification, they will group them in quads of 8 based proximity to each other. They will then rank each quad 1 thru 8 and higher seeds will host. You might have a 5-5 or 6-4 district champ or runner up traveling to a 7-3 or 8-2 wild card, depending on the computers ranking. I would think they start in upper east tenn. and take the 8 closest qualifiers for the 1st quad. Come toward Knoxville and take the next 8. Teams in the same district around Kingston area could go in either direction. Teams from the same district may be split up to keep the quads balanced. Thats how I read the break down.

(2-6) or White Co. (0-8) will qualify for 5A play-offs. How is TSSAA going to justify a bad 3-7 or a very bad 1-9 team qualifying and knocking a 5-5 or better team out? They changed the wording from qualifying to eligible. This will allow the TSSAA to place teams they determine by their placement. By changing the words there are no auto bids. The top 32 will go. Even if a teams get an eligibilty by finishing over another team from their district doesn't make them an automatic over a team who doesn't. You are wrong about that. there will be auro qualifers, just read the heading at the top of each district. I will promise you that a 31 or 32 ranked team will be bumped for a automatic qualifer. It seems the only reason you joined coacht was to bash Kerr's son. Judging by all the negative things you have wrote about him on the White County threads, you should know the answer to your own question and to why coaches don't last long in white county. A little support of your program would go a Long way in getting and keeping coaches.

There were more Tenn. teams there than that. Trousdale Co, Whites Creekand White Co. were all there. Whites Creek won their morning round robin bracket with a 7-1 record. Their only loss was to White Co. Trousdale won a 2 or 3 games but lost in the first round of the afternoon tournament. White Co. was about .500 in the round robin and one won game in the afternoon tournament before getting beaten by Byrnes. Trousdale could have one a few more but had a player go down in their first game and ended up having to forfiet the game.

Level of competition. If you play weak teams every week you won't get better. If teams in upper east Tn. want to get better, they need to bite the bullet and travel for their non region games. Come to Knoxville and play Central, Maryville, Fulton, Oak Ridge, etc. during the regular season. See the level you need to reach before playoff time.

How do you figure that travel to Chattanooga will be worse than 3 hours to Lawrence Co. and Hickman Co....not to mention Nashville traffic on a Friday evening? I would also think that Coach Brown would be better aquainted with the Chattanooga teams than the teams in the region they just left, he spent several years in the Chattanooga area while coaching at Bledsoe Co. Also, who would you rather play, Hixson or Hillsboro? Walker Valley or Strafford? Chatt. Central or Maplewood? How many fans do you think those Nashville teams bring as compared to Rhea County or Red Bank?
