  1. Looking forward to Riverdale's playday. Riverdale, Clarksville, Memphis Central and Mt.Juliet all playing in the same event, this side of the State Tournament shouldn't be missed. I plan to see Lawrence Co. and Bradley Central as well but, you just can't see every game thats interesting.
  2. Several Flight players and coaches left today driving to Dallas, Tx ( Frisco, Tx ) to play in the Super 64 Showcase event. The tournament runs July 5 thru 9. Looking at their web site, most of the teams in it are from Texas. Over 100 colleges and Universities have signed up to attend. The players will get good exposure to start the July college viewing period. Good luck to everyone making the trip.
  3. I watched Jackson Co. play Riverdale Thursday. Riverdale has won big every game I have watched them play and this one went the same way. Still, this was a camp game and a good learning tool for the Jackson Co. players.
  4. Don't worry about what the other team is doing. Worry about why your team is down 35 and what you can do about it. It's better to play against the best, because it helps you to get better. Sure, leaving starters in after a game is decided has possible down sides. Every coach knows that and makes their own decisions.
  5. Riverdale doesn't have much size. That might be their one weakness. However, Shacobia Barbee's strength and quickness, plus to some degree several others on the team the same way, goes along way to minimize that problem. Two things that Riverdale has going for them is speed and shooters. Speed kills and good shooting makes up for many short comings. I've got a ton of respect for Jackson County and Coach Brown. I'd like see them play Riverdale but, putting out a point spread number in a game with no shot clock? Not a good idea.
  6. I hear Riverdale HS will host a Playday with several top teams from around the state. Will it be like the Playday's John Wild put on when he coached at Franklin County? If it is you don't want to miss it. I think it will be held the second weekend of November, 11/13/10?
  7. Becca Greenwell, from Owensboro, KY has played AAU basketball with Tennessee Elite the past four or five years. Her older sister Rachel, started playing for Elite and Becca followed. The last two years, Becca has played both with Tennessee Elite in AAU events and with Tennessee Flight in Nike events. I think every Tennessee girl that plays on Elite and Flight think highly of Becca. It's been a good thing all around.
  8. Good Luck and Congratulations. I don't have a Crystal Ball but, this could be a very good hire for Franklin County.
  9. Basketball is Back. Yesterday at A-Game Sportsplex in the Franklin/Cool Springs area, Hillsboro HS hosted a very good playday. Several teams stood out and gave a nice prevue of the up-coming season. Hillsboro, Morristown West, Lawrence Co, Franklin Co, Cookville and several others had some really nice individual talent and should develop into strong teams as the season progresses. The A-Game facility with six courts is a very convenient site to watch the games.
  10. Good post Jimbo44. Good luck to the past coaches and the new ones just starting.
  11. If the rumor that was just passed to me is true? I will have to think about it for while. Right now, its not like I'm a huge Tech fan, just a casual women's basketball fan but, who was on the selection committee? Let me just remind the Board that Kim Rosamond was my first choice for head coach. I think she was Tech's best shot at keeping the local players home. By local players I mean to include a certain 6'8 post player in the next county.
  12. I was at the Music City Madness basketball tournament today watching Molly Heady and her Flight team play. They won a really close game against a team from Oklahoma. Did Molly commit to Tennessee Tech or to the last staff? Will she have to be offered a scholarship by whoever Tech hires or does her committment stand? I know when Rebecca Rowsey, who played at Chester County, committed to Jim Foster and Vanderbilt, it didn't mean a thing after he left for Ohio State. Rebecca ended up at Georgia, got three degrees in five years and is now in her second year of Medical school at UT Memphis. I think Molly is a really good kid much like Rebecca and I'm sure things will work out fine for her no matter how it turns out.
  13. Recruiting is the life blood of any program. If that is true, TECH needs the best recruiter they can hire. They should take a long look at Kim Rosamond, the Vanderbilt recruiting coordinator. She helped get MTSU back on the women's basketball map and she is doing a very good job at Vanderbilt. Its only a matter of time until she gets a head coaching position. Tech could get ahead of the curve with someone like Coach Rosamond.
  14. Two that I missed on the list, that should be on it IMO Stephanie Myers the 6'4 MTSU commit from Lavergne HS Marie Carpenter the shooting guard at Ensworth.
  15. Just a little to late to hire the person that could turn Tech around in the shortest amount of time. That being Kellie Jolly Harper. NCState's pay scale may be more than Tech wants to pay? Jim Brown is someone who could prepare the team to win. He is just a solid fundamentalist type coach. The question is, can he recruit? Can he keep the local talent home? If so, he could be who Tech needs. Matt Insell, also comes to mind. A proven recruiter and someone who has an in with local talent and can go out of state recruiting when needed. Who ever the hire is, that coach needs to mix and mingle with the local high school coaches and plug up the talent drain from the area.
  16. Kayci Ferris from Smith County has to be high on the list. She is holding offers from schools in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten and Big 12. Must be a reason?
  17. Jimbo44, Where will Smith Co be camping, dates and times if you have them?
  18. Need a little help, please. What are the dates and location for the 14 and under state tournament? Thanks in advance.
  19. Becca Greenwell, who plays for Nike Flight Freshman and Tennessee Elite 13's from Owensboro Catholic HS in Kentucky will be there.
  20. I think Kaci Ferris could be in the running for Miss Basketball in Single A.
  21. For the most part, everyone who has seen her play is on her.
  22. I would have to move up two players and add another player to the top ten who isn't listed. Moving up is Miko Williams, not sure of her first name spelling. Pat wants her. Moving up is Kayci Ferriss, easily a top ten player and I think in the top three. Moving in is Mary Hirst of Knoxville Bearden HS. Fielding offers from several D1 schools.
  23. Belmont's team camp will be June 5-6-7. For Information Call Yvette Sparks at 615-460-5704 or Coach Tony Cross at 615-945-3610
