  1. mwtfan -- "kill a hog" -- we could have fun with that, but I would rather use this opportunity to tell our "threaders" that my comments are 70% fun - 20% serious - and the other 50% is just to spur comment. Yes that's 140%. Now tell me what great baseball coach I'm quoting. Chiefs -- I suggest your double header is at West. I heard they serve steak and even have a salad bar in their concessions. As for predictions -- haven't missed one yet this season. Tomorrow: East wins over Jeff, West over Cocke, Cherokee over South, Greeneville enjoys the day off.
  2. I was referring to finishing second at District Tourney. Still too much work to do for them. They lost their catcher again this weekend and will continue to struggle for a couple of weeks. Then -- watch out! West and Cherokee will still finish 1 and 2.
  3. What --- no guts --- or confidence. I'm terribly disappointed. Everyone knows that you Trojans are noted primadonnas. How about that for starting crap Patriot Fan? I've been high on the Trojans all year. They have the tools. They have great athletes on the bench to go with the 8 or so in the starting lineup. However -- I predict a late peaking Hurricane team that finishes second and goes on to District. Better not have them in your bracket. I'm spreading it on thick today. A little late season energy boost.
  4. Should be a good one. I projected West at 7-2 a couple of weeks ago. I still stand by that number. What about you mwtfan?
  5. Heck --- starting crap is half the fun.
  6. Great win Trojans. Very impressive win. mwtfan -- any weak spots for Trojans to brush up on before District? Looking good thus far.
  7. I've never been impressed by West pitcher, but she keeps getting the job done. As for pitching around batters -- that's not an option. When you have "HITTERS" like McKinney and Watson trying to find a way on the field (hitting isn't your problem). West may have one or two that are a little suspect, but if Cherokee wins -- it won't be because they were able to pitch around hitters. West can play small ball with slappers, bunters, and speed. They have numerous that can hit for power. They have plenty that hit for average. Bottom line -- Cherokee will have to score. You may occassionally find West slumping on offense this year, but it won't be for long periods of time, and rarely will it be for an entire game. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
  8. West is on cruise control right now. West offense vs Cherokee pitching (sounds interesting), but too much firepower from Trojans with a great defense on the field too. I don't really think this will be a close one either, but not double digit for Trojans. I like the score 7-2. Chiefs haven't played Trojans well in awhile. Enjoy spring break IMAC!
  9. EASY Jeff gets hammered by Cherokee Greeneville hammered by West East -- who knows, but should get it done.
  10. Friday -- East beat Happy Valley (15-0) . East beat Elizabethton 1-0. Saturday -- East beat Volunteer 3-0. East beat TN High 11-0. Lost to Unicoi 9-3
  11. Hurricanes had a good weekend, but looks like they lost their short stop. Tough break lady canes. Cherokee looked good too. Cherokee was playing for Championship vs Unicoi when Umpire got knocked out. West Firepower vs Cherokee pitching will be an interesting matchup. The two not meeting until late in the season should build suspense.
  12. Good job Lady Trojans. Looked as advertised. East didn't look ready to play. mwt fan -- looks like an extended year in your future. Too much firepower. Cherokee beats cocke. Any news on Greeneville vs Jefferson?
  13. Chrokee vs Cocke Greeneville vs Jeff East vs West. Get's you plum giddy. Who is the pressure on tonight mwtfan? What does East or West have to do well to win this one? I hear that girls on both sides are extremely excited. I guess comes from years of competing with and against each other.
  14. Both Cherokee games late in the season. Building suspense I suppose. Cherokee is still suspect scoring. Looks like a Lady Trojan year barring a melt down. Too much fire-power. Good luck IMAC!!
  15. West flying high and living up to the hype. No rest for the Canes -- week one is a big one. Hope the rest of the year is just as exciting. What's your prediction for thursday mwtfan?
  16. Hey mwtfan -- I hear West looks has more players than positions available. Who looks to be left out or is it to early to tell? Great problem to have. How do you rank the pitching after Whitehead? I heard Greeneville had a really good freshman pitcher. Any information on her? Sounds like Jeff has some nice young pitching developing too.
  17. I think East is carrying 17, but they too did not have to cut to get their roster. Next year has few players coming in for them, but the year after that could be a huge class. West has had a couple of large classes, but a couple of smaller years on the horizon. It just seems to ebb and flow. Your assessments look good to me. West is locked and loaded. Great depth and developing some young pitchers to back up their senior. I think West and Cherokee are a notch above, but Cherokee struggles vs the Trojans (mental block or maybe just the game style is to West advantage). Jeff lost some players that cannot be replaced. Still some good players if pitching comes along and young players in the pipeline. East similar to Cherokee in that pitching should keep them competitve and while East may have more potential sluggers, Cherokee will be better manufacturing runs. Greeneville has some great youth, but they too trying to find a next level pitcher. Cocke County will struggle until they solve the pitching woes as well. Most of these schools have "travel teams" associated with their schools, but I don't see one feeding Cocke county. Should be a fun year, but West and Cherokee look to should be considered early favorites.
  18. What would Science Hill have to do different to beat Greeneville or is there little possibility?
  19. You don't have to like liver. Just pile it full of onions and add a little 57 sauce -- yummy! Hard to explain why they don't accomplish more. They have shooters, speed, ball-handlers, and two regular "scorers". They can look great sometimes, but terrible the next. They have great depth. The reality though is that the 2 "D's" from Gville should have their own way. Just be careful.
  20. South isn't chopped liver. They have two offensive scorers and a couple of wings that can flat shoot. Thier offense isn't very imaginative and their defense is suspect. They are a dangerous team that can sneak up on you on a given night. Science Hill has numerous scorers, so it will be difficult for the Trojans. West should be able to handle their pressure, but how will they score? The IMAC has great matchups against their opponents in Round 1. Good luck IMAC.
  21. Double screens have been great to get Elliott off, but zones seem to be problomatic as does West offense at times. I'll take West by 5 and Greeneville by 15.
  22. Hey trotter. Any thoughts on last evening.
  23. Settle down roosters. You won so appreciate the homecooking you got last night. You could use it again tomorrow. Congrats and good luck.
  24. Sorry Greeneville. Old sports adage "No one roots for Goliath". Fact is, they have struggled at times, but continue to overcome. My hats off to them, but it is why we play the game. Can't wait for tourney.
  25. Leading scorer Taylor Brooks quit during blowout against Crockett. She claims that she doesn't get the ball enough from teammates and coach is harder on her than the others.
