  1. I am not singling out anyone. I just know that last year you did this same thing. I am not close to anyone. I just don't like the disrespect you give to the other players on the team by praising some and not mentioning the others. And to further explain, I have no relationship with any of the players. I just know from last year watching games when I could get to them that some players stepped up and they were not mentioned by you. OVer 30 years ago I graduated and team play was important but postings like yours do not help the team. Although I have no relationship with the team players I do know many of the parents and I don't think they would appreciate it either. It is not team building. It is just the opposite!
  2. The JV team did have a lot of juniors last year. They had quit b-ball during the summer and was allowed to return to the team. They played with the freshman and sophomores last year. They have improved and will contribute this year. So don't count SC out yet!
  3. Dream on. I don't have to call you out. You do that by declaring yourself something your not.
  4. Making predictions is not a team building method. I would hope you could provide stats since you sit on the bench. Being around is all your life and playing is two different things. They can achieve great things but not through jealousy caused by these type of posts
  5. I am not ill by no means. I just want SC to be talked about as a team not name individual players. The reason deerhunter names them is because he keeps their stats and sits on the bench at every game. I have been around SC basketball for over 30 years. I know the game and most of the parents of the players. I want the best for the boys. If SC fans can't encourage them as a team, it causes jealousy for the kids. Kids making predictions don't get that point. Sorry if I offended some but a team is more important than any one player.
  6. My you have such big predictions. I sure like how you like to name individuals also. Sc does have a new coach and some very disciplined players although they were not the ones you named. Team play will be a big part of their success. IF they start out like last year, it will be a long year. I hope that the coach will make them play as a team not pick individuals to be stars. That will just cause more losses. As someone else mentioned, the Smith boys are good but once they are down, they are defeated the rest of the game. The play can't center around them. As far as post play, they don't have any tall boys but they do have a rebounder from last year. A quick boy with a lot of heart. He played much bigger than he was. Heart and team play will carry SC far!!! Oh yeah keep your stats and leave the predictions to people that really know the game
  7. Selective memory is not a trait I have. Telling the truth is, unlike you and anyone else making false statements about where the students sit. However, that is part of the game. Yelling and distractions should not hurt a true talented team. So "howdoitknow" anything if you can't get facts correct. However, you are correct in saying that this argument is over. SC does not need to prove this to you. It is evident at a game. Go Rebels!!! Rowdy Rebels keep doing what you do best!! It seems to be working!!!
  8. I agree with you. No one wants to believe that SC can come back after the bad start we had. The boys have been through a lot and are showing they can play ball. For those of you unwilling to see this fact, so be it. Our boys have had a difficult 2 weeks but they continue to make great progress. The coaches are showing the talent was always there. It just needed to be pulled out of the boys. Great job coaches and players!!!!
  9. My observation of your post is that you have not been to a game in a LONG while. SC has not been seated behind the opposing team in two years. I don't need encouragement of any kind due to the fact that I am not a hypocrite. I speak the truth. And considering you did not even know that the fans don't sit behind the visiting team, you would not know the truth if it hit you in the face. So you can't call our sportsmanship by anything due to your inability to know the facts. In the future, investigate before making statements you can't prove. As far as our chances tonight, I would call it pretty good. We beat Fairview!!! We beat them with a very sportsmanlike fan base.
  10. You are correct the reffing was horrible. I hope for the refs they can chalked that one up to inexperience. IF not, they need to get another job.
  11. I have been in sports for over 25 years and SC has one of the best sportmanlike teams around. Waverly has to have one of the worst. Always has always will. The insight provided was and is a clear cut fact no scolding involved. Sorry if it hurts your feelings. I know the truth hurts!!!!
  12. I could not agree more. The coaches have them pumped and truly believing in themselves. That makes a big difference in wins and loses. Good job to the coaches and players. Keep it up.
  13. Taylor knows he is not a scorer. Just ask him. However, his defense and rebounds (basketball basics) make a big difference. He is big to the team due to his aggression and determination. SC needs more aggressive players.
  14. The game Friday night really showed how much depth is on the team. I think moving Brandon Lee down inside with the younger Taylor boy along with the twins and Gavin Wallace was the better 5 Friday night. They showed aggressive and drive to win. They move the ball good and did the fundamentals required to win a game. Good Job Rebels!!!
  15. when you are a good coach, teaching a lesson and sticking to it is sometimes more important. The twins are good players but tend to lose their composure in big game situations which lead to the technical. One person does not win or lose a game. Some of the underclassmen stepped up BIG and made the difference.
  16. I agree. They are young but they did very well. I think their play surprised the Northwest team and the crowd. It is always fun to watch good coaches. I don't think anyone should count the Lady SC team out yet. Congrats to the Bramletts for one of many wins this year.
  17. Sorry to burst your bubble. Not a parent just a fan of stewart county ball both middle and high school. In fact, way before we had a middle school. You think this might be why I know so much. so your thoughts are wrong.
  18. I don't know you and don't care. I speak truthfully about this team. If you knew so much about the team you would know that the boy you mentioned quit during summer camp along with several others. IF he has come back, it will be awhile before he plays because he has a lot of running to make up before he can practice with the team. So your scouting report means nothing to me. And as far as when I graduated, it does not matter. I have been involved with this team for the last 10 years. (alot) I played ball for SCHS and I have always been a fan since graduating over 15 years ago.
  19. The juniors will be BIG next year, or should I say the ones that have played together since elementary school (Smith twins, Earhart, Wallace, C. Taylor). All of them have showed dedication to the game. They have heart and will to succeed. With the addition of a couple of upcoming freshman they will do good. However, I do hope that they burst the bubble of some this year. GO REBS!
  20. I hope that the order you put these boys in are not the order you think they will play. If so you haven't seen some of them get on the floor. The description of some of the players is WAY OFF. The first 7 to 8 players are so even that any could do the job. In this I mean the ones that can play the best. For what it is worth, it is not who you stated. As I have said before, I know this team well. I have followed them closely since I graduated eons ago. I have attended the scrimmages and the silent unmentioned boys are the biggest threats. Everyone can describe the boys and name the obvious first 3 but they are forgetting the ones that will make the greatest contributions without all the talk involved. From the last few years, the boys that make the greatest contributions to the team did not have their names in the paper or talked about everywhere you went. They were the ones that lead the team on the floor with their heart and played until they couldn't move a muscle the next day. They are the ones that left the gym trying to determine what they could do better the next game. At this point, there are 3 players that do that now. One you listed as a starter and the other two you listed as reserve players. The players that will make the greatest contributions to the team will play with heart until the last second and they are not flashy scorers. They are the 2 best defensive players and the one new offensive player. So for SC to be a threat they need to win with their defense. The offense will come if they are patient. Defense wins games. Offense sells tickets.
  21. Finally someone asks about the bench.... I have attended all pre-season scrimmages and the bench is not very deep. A couple of football players have joined practice now and gives us a few more options but all and all we are going to suffer due to no bench. The team has more than 3 players to count on. In fact, the fastest person on the team with the best defense has not even been named. In speaking with him, he had rather it be that way. He wants to play ball not be named for something that he isn't. Our team consist of the following boys.(J. Taylor, the Smith boys, Earhart, C. Taylor, Wallace and Lee) They can be a threat if they play as a team. The season is going to be very rough. Don't get me wrong I love SC but the new coaching style has hurt them so far. The juniors that have played together for years will be the team to beat next year. But I do think we are going to suffer for awhile until they find their way.
  22. I said it last year and I will say it again: Two players don't make a team!!!! SC has several players that are really stepping up their game. It is not the one you are talking about though. However, SC season will depend on whether the new coach can get them to pull together. Not much leadership only one or two trying to perform that job. The others are playing for themselves. No team play, NO Team!! Hopefully, things will turn around soon.
  23. Coach Rickman was successful as an assistant coach. Now we have to see what the year holds for the team. They have some good players remaining that did not get a lot of playing time last year but they have proven they can play together.
  24. Bramlett did a great job with the boys. I know that there is some very upset boys on that team. Bramlett means more to them than just a coach. I have talked to some of the players and they feel upset and hurt. I hope this does not hurt them next year. Good luck to Bramlett on his new endeavors. SCHS basketball will miss his leadership and inspiration.
  25. SC may not have played their best but Coach Bramlett never just sits back and lets them play without being vocal. That is just his style of coaching so no one that knows Bramlett believes he did not really yell at the game. As far as the zone defense goes, SC has played that defense all year and it worked. It may not have been working during this game but from your comments I am not sure you understand the pros and cons of zone or man-to-man defense. SC has accepted they lost. They had to, but officials can and do hurt/help teams by their incorrect or lack of calling skills. No one should ever say officials have no effect on a game. Everything has an effect on games especially tournament games.
