  1. Before the change in band directors at Harpeth, the band came to all the games and when it wasn't feasible to bring the full band, they brought a Pep band. Not the case anymore. They only do home games now. Pretty sad the band support is no longer there.
  2. Harpeth has 18 Seniors on their team, many of whom played when they made a playoff run two years ago. The 2009 team played terrific football the latter half of the season and they peaked right around playoff time. They went on the road and beat Cannon County the 1st round in Woodbury, then played at Smith County in a close game the following week. This year's seniors learned alot from their experiences of two years ago. Up until the final game of season against Cheatham County, the Harpeth defense led District 11AA in fewest points allowed. For the most part, their defense is very solid. Offensively, they have shown the ability to score points when they need to. The team was definitely flat against Cheatham County. From what I have read about Sequatchie County, I would anticipate a VERY good football game between these two teams. Unfortunate for the distance between the two teams for traveling, but I anticipate a great football playoff atmosphere! Good luck to both teams tonight!
  3. Anything can happen, even in a year where the District (by all counts) may be down as a whole. Any team that can get on a roll, especially toward late season, and still fight their way into the playoffs has a chance to be a dangerous playoff team. Point in case is last year's Harpeth team. Start the season 1-5 and looked like the season was over, and then reeled off 5 wins to get to the 2nd round of the playoffs finishing a strong 6-6. Yes, Harpeth played sub-caliber teams during that stretch run, but the truth was, they believed in themselves and found out they could compete in the playoffs where they had their chance to beat a good Smith County team and could have moved on to the quarterfinals. At any rate, good luck to all in the District.
  4. I've got the Cubs in this one en route to a 7-3 overall season record and 1st place among the 3A teams in District 11AA.
  5. This is a different Milan team this year....best team they've had in years. Milan wins by 14+.
  6. This game really does look to be one of the better matchups of the week. Both teams have a lot of similarities and each has some things they do well. So I look for a great game in a great football atmosphere. One thing for sure........probably the best $8 per person entertainment you can find anywhere. Good luck to both teams. The Harpeth folks should be bringing a pretty good crowd to include some folks from around Cheatham County who are coming down to support us. Good luck also to our District 11AA champion Camden as they take on Westview just across the river in West Tennessee.
  7. Best of luck Friday night Camden from your District 11AA friends at Harpeth!!! Go get em and make us proud!!!
  8. Actually, I would expect a fair turnout from the Harpeth side for the game. Last week, our band was in state competition in Franklin on Saturday and they didn't make the trip to Cannon County. I don't think they are bringing any student busses up, but my opinion is that this is the first time Harpeth has been to the 2nd round since early 2000's so I think folks will be excited. We are excited about coming to SC because we know this is going to be high school football atmosphere at its finest and it will be a game with two talented and fun to watch teams.
  9. Now this is what it's all about........the Friday Night Lights atmosphere in a great football environment with lots at stake for two good football teams. Doesn't get any better. Our Harpeth fans will enjoy that for sure.
  10. SC small and slow??? Nah. The SC kids are talented. Still trying to figure out how they lost to Cannon.
  11. The difference for this Harpeth team is the guys in the trenches and the skill guys nobody is paying any attention to. These guys are playing hellacious football!! 1
  12. Come on Patriosspy....give me a break. District 8AA down there with Murphy Fair in Cannon County, and you tell me you never heard of #6 from Harpeth. You obviously heard of Smith County's QB? They were in the same list for Class 3A......Murph's Preseason Class 3A preseason All State team...... and yes #6 from Harpeth in on his list!!!! He had his yards and TDs in his soph and junior years.......difference is now, his teammates have come of age!!! Look at # 22 for Harpeth, or #5, or # 15, or #10, # 32, or #13, or #36, or #12. or..........the list goes on and on. These guys are making plays. It aint't the #6 show anymore at Harpeth......his besties are doing what they are doing and the team is having success. Smith can worry about #6 if they want to......or #22......Fact is, they better worry about the rest of these guys cause that's where the big difference for Harpeth is the second half of the season!!! Any team shallow enough to think there are 1 or 2 guys making Harpeth successfull needs to think again!!! Yeah #6 has had his great games.............but he is applauding his teammates cause they have "come of age" and the Indians are winning games because of them. Yes, 2 catches for 33 yards and 1 TD against Cannon for #6.....I have pics of a big grin on his face after the game with those numbers. He welcomes the attention and so do his teammates. Somebody needs to watch some Harpeth tape of their last six games and thats all I can say! Harpeth is truly a TEAM who is winning games together.......not a one or two man band like they were the past year or two!! Oh.....and Harpeth has some offensive sets that NOBODY has seen and they work too.....they just haven't had to use them!!! Harpeth will be ready to play Smith.........just ask HowDoItKnow and he will tell you.
  13. I have been around the Harpeth program for 8 years, and the people over here don't do the "bulletin board" stuff or do things to incite other teams. Neither team should need motivation or incentive to come out and play hard. The box of Wheaties thing sounds like something Jeff Fisher of the Titans would do to motivate his own players. So if somebody did receive a box of Wheaties with a note, it's somebody from Cannon County's District trying to light a fire. We need better stuff on the message boards than this folks!!
  14. Good luck to both teams on Friday. Go Harpeth!
  15. Yeah........get the smack talk started beachadvisordotcom.....we're listening!!
