  1. I think my post made him realize he was wrong. Just an opinion though.
  2. Pigeon Forge fans, or should I say melabonz, in my opinion I do not think you should be on here "tooting your own horn." Every team thinks that their team is the best, and yes, you do have a good reason to think you are going to be good this year considering you have been to two state tournaments in the past two years. However, you did lose 7 players, argurably the best head coach in the state, and I believe you also lost your pitching coach (I could be wrong about this one); those three things are tough to replace no matter who you are. I'm not trying to say you are not going to be good this year, because you might, the guys that were at Pigeon Forge in the past have taught the ones there now how to win, they are used to winning and were pretty darn good at it the past few years. However, no Pigeon Forge Baseball Team has ever come on here talking about how good they were going to be and hyping themselves up, they have stayed humble and focused on the task at hand; playing baseball. Maybe you should take a hint from that; I mean they did go to two state tournaments. Also, look at your boys basketball team, the players and fans were on CoachT during the season hyping themselves up and putting pressure on themselves, now that they didn't make it to the district championship game, those post have certainly stopped. (I'm not saying the boys basketball team can't still make it to the state, cause there is a huge possibility they will, just trying to make a point) I guess I just think you should quit trying to hype yourselves and your sons up, go to the field instead, when the Tigers start producing positive results, then get on here and post those. Good luck to the Tigers this season and all Sevier County teams!
  3. Do you seriously think 5 wins in a season is a successful season? Pigeon Forge had a lot of kids graduate from those 5 win seasons. I'm not saying it was completely the assistant coaches faults, it is a combination of many things. Truthfully I think it was the lack of leadership from Pigeon Forge seniors last year, however, it is just an observation I have made. The athletes Pigeon Forge had those years they were having 5 wins seasons, they should have been having 8 or 9 win seasons. Pigeon Forge showed some potential in the jamboree at the beginning of the season, being the only county team to win their quarter, what happened?
  4. Thoughts and Comments? Records as of Jan. 10 1. Greeneville (19-1): Wins over Morristown West and Wartburg last week keep the Greene Devils in the top spot. 2. Fulton (15-1): The Falcons finally touched ground Monday when Karns scored a comeback 68-64 win and gave Fulton its loss. Class 2A Fulton was 11-0 this season against Class 3A teams. 3. Maryville (13-3): The Rebels have won 10 in a row since consecutive losses. The discipline new coach Mark Eldridge brought is paying dividends. 4. Oak Ridge (15-4): The Wildcats lost a lead in the final minutes against Farragut but rebounded with two consecutive wins. 5. Powell (12-4): The Panthers have won five of six, including a 15-point win at Farragut. They face an important game tonight at Oak Ridge. 6. Halls (15-2): The Red Devils have won their last two games by 37 and 30 points, respectively. But a tougher stretch of opponents (Karns, Powell and Oak Ridge) begins next week. 7. Farragut (17-3): The Admirals are 6-0 in District 4-AAA play this season, and their depth - which goes about 10 players deep - should be key during the playoffs. 8. Pigeon Forge (20-0): One of only two undefeated teams (Grace Christian) in the state. Sevier County nearly caged the Tigers last week, pushing Pigeon Forge to a two-point game. 9. Austin-East (16-4): The Roadrunners surprisingly lost back-to-back games last week, but with the talent A-E has those skids won't happen often. 10. Bearden (13-5): If Dustin Craig keeps pumping in 31 points each night, like he did against William Blount Tuesday, then the Bulldogs will be tough to stop. Movin' On Up: Grace Christian (16-0), McMinn County (12-2), Seymour (13-5), Loudon (11-5), Karns (9-7).
  5. KnoxPrepXtra Coverage Area Rankings (All Classes) Records as of Jan. 10. 1. Webb (13-2): The Lady Spartans should cruise tonight against Baylor, but Webb travels to Greeneville on Saturday. 2. Austin-East (17-3): The Roadrunners have won nine consecutive games since a loss to Webb. 3. Greeneville (15-3): A win over Webb on Saturday might mean a new No. 1 in PrepXtra land. 4. Oak Ridge (14-3): Oak Ridge lost to Farragut last week for the first time since 1985. The Lady Wildcats are still one of the best teams around, and they regrouped with back-to-back wins. 5. Heritage (14-5): Katie Brooks' 19 points helped Heritage knock off Farragut on Tuesday. Heritage will need another game like that tonight against William Blount. 6. Powell (10-3): The Lady Panthers haven't been burning it up lately. They lost to Farragut last week and squeaked past West on Tuesday. But a win tonight at Oak Ridge could give them a boost. 7. Maryville (11-3): Since consecutive losses in the Greene County Bank Ladies Classic, the Lady Rebels have won three in a row. Sarah Roberts and Bailie Roberts - no relation - are leading the way. 8. Tellico Plains (15-4): Winners of 12 of their last 13 games, the Lady Bears crack the Top 10. Behind the shooting arm of Brooke McKinnon, Tellico Plains is 7-1 in District 5-AA. 9. Seymour (13-5): Lost to Rutledge on Tuesday despite having nine players score. The Lady Eagles should get a win Saturday against Volunteer. 10. Gatlinburg-Pittman (15-1) Coach Mike Rader has his team on a roll. G-P has won 14 straight. Movin' On Up: McMinn County (12-4), Oliver Springs (14-5), Loudon (12-4), Oakdale (13-5).
  6. From what I know of East Tennessee: Austin East ranking seems to be accurate, they have a few early losses, but to some good teams. A quick athletic team as many of you have probably seen in the state tournament the past few years. Haven't seen them play this year but I would think they are playing that same style. Are lead by Juniors Shyminacka Marsh and LaKrystle Goss and Seniors Brittney Allen and Bianca Blair who all helped their team to the state tournament as freshman and sophmores. Should be poised for a state tournament run with their age and post season experience however an early loss to district foe Seymour exposed some weaknesses. Gatlinburg Pittman seems just slightly overranked but worthy of a ranking with the record they have. Have only one loss but haven't played a tough schedule. Schedule ranking of 90th in the state. A very well coached team who plays hard from the tip. Play in your face defense and let their defense turn into their offense. May be a bit down from last years substate team in my opinion with the loss of starting guard Hardy and McCroskey. They are led by senoir guard Brittney Everhart and senior post Cindy Webb and Stephanie Carr. Should make a strong post season run however lack of size and schedule strength stand in their way. Claiborne is always well coached and hardworking. They are led by senior guard Whitney Parkey, who is the coaches daughter. A deadly shooter who can also put the ball on the floor to get to the line. Creates a lot of her offense off of her defense. Also have a freshman post player who is said to have D1 potential. Haven't made the trip to Claiborne so I can't tell you a lot about her. Could possibly have a strong post season, Coach Parkey always comes in with a set and usually effective game plan, loss of senior point guard Simmons could hurt in the post season because I don't know what kind of supporting cast they have with Parkey. Don't know much about Tellico Plains. They have losses to #16 Polk Co. and Seymour, also a loss to single A Greenback. However, they beat a very good McMinn Central team and also have wins against two Pa. teams and a team from NY. Are lead by Brooke McKinnon.
  7. I have a feeling that some, if not all of the users posting about the Pigeon Forge program are student-athletes who either played for this coach, or quit before the season started and are bitter. A little birdy once told me that the attitudes of a majority of the football players at Pigeon Forge High School are not much to work with. What was the reason for all of the seniors and some underclassmen who quit before the season started? Were they not used to working hard? Were there no leaders? I could possibly be 100% wrong about this, and probably am, but it is just a feeling I have, please correct me if I am wrong. If you are in fact student-athletes from Pigeon Forge, you getting on here and talking bad about this coach will do nothing. The season is over and there is nothing you can do about it now. Maybe the coach needed to fire his assistants. How many different head coaches have been at the school and not had success? From what I know, the majority of the assistant coaches have been there for most if not all of those years. After changing head coaches so many times, maybe it was the assistant coaches? It doesn't hurt to try I suppose, everything else has been done. I don't know, but it is just an observation I have made over the years after reading these boards. Too many chiefs and not enough indians maybe? My opinion will probably offend all of you, and oh well, everyone has a right to their opinion right? Haha. I wish nothing but luck to the Pigeon Forge program in the future and hope that the problems can be solved correctly and quickly.
  8. Polls mean absolutely nothing obviously. Consider Ohio St. They were obviously not the best team in the nation but were ranked number 1 all year long. There were probably at least 3 teams in the SEC that could have handed them a loss during the season if they played an SEC schedule in my opinion. George Mason goes from barley getting into the NCAA tournament to being a final four team. Polls are fun during the regular season and give us all something to talk about, but in the end, high school basketball is a tournament sport, as well it should be. Pigeon Forge might be overranked, and it is very unlikely that those exact top 8 teams will all make it to the state tournament, but polls are an opportunity to give teams who have fantastic seasons a little bit of credit. I don't care where you are from, or who you play, going 20-0 is tough. I understand that most of the west Tennessee teams are probably better than Pigeon Forge, Fulton, Austin-East, and Seymour; however, these teams are having great seasons, so until the actual tournaments are played and they are put out, lets give these KIDS (yes they are just kids) credit for how hard they are working and what a great job they are doing. Congrats to all the teams who made the top 10, east, middle and west Tennessee!
  9. Did the upperclassman post player play for Rutledge? Or did they have a girl out? I heard she was ejected from a game last week and would miss Monday and Tuesdays games. This is quite a win for Rutledge even if she did play, but without her, that is huge, wasn't she their most experienced post player? Congrats to Rutledge and I am sure Coach Moore will have the Seymour girls back on track soon, I feel sorry for whoever they play next.
  10. Oh ok I was confused, I thought the oldest graduated last year. Thank you for clearing that up. What schools are looking at her? And true, you can't teach size, however, 6'2 girls are not a rarity in Division 1 basketball. Good luck to both of these girls though!
  11. Division 1 Really? I never could see that. But that is great for her if that is true. Where did her sister end up going?
  12. Arguments can be made for Estes, McBee, and Woodrick. They all are valuable to their teams and they can all three take over a game at any point. However, in my opinion Woodrick is the best all around player in 2AA. Estes and McBee are both great shooters. McBee is argurably the best point guard in the district. However, the question asked was who is the best player in the district. McBee and Estes lack the passing ability, rebounding ability, and the power down low to finish shots like Woodrick does. Not saying those boys can't do all three, but Woodrick's ability in these areas is a big step above the boys mentioned and anyone else in the district. Woodrick has such a good feel for the game and has the best court vision I have ever seen in a high school player. I bet the rest of district 2AA will be letting out a huge sigh of relief when this season is over and the last of the three Woodrick brothers graduates. (They have sure been fun to watch). Whatever colleges get ahold of Estest, McBee, and Woodrick will get great grabs, and I wish them all three the best of luck!
  13. I know exactly what you are talking about. Number 50 (Peterson I believe it is) has been this way since beginning high school. Not only should the referees be able to do something about it, but her coach should take some control/responsibility for it. Possibly the most dirty player I have seen in a while, even though she is a very good player.
  14. Rutledge post players will have a tough task battling against Seymour's Peterson next Tuesday. Maybe it will be some good experience for their district schedule. The young girl could really use the experience and their post players will have to play physical to bother her.
