  1. s&b, Ths yeer eye'll c Hauls whomp Murrivule n nd tha 60. C a n u digit?
  2. BCsportsfan, I pull for the team that will end the 60 game win streak, which happens to be the same team that last beat Maryville in region 3-4A
  3. maryville had 1500 +/- students in there January enrollment count. That spells 6A
  4. starsandbars, Yes I think you are right about the series with Smyrna. Bet I will bet a years worth of garbage pickup you will not schedule another series with anyone as far away as Smyrna. Riverdale, Brentwood Academy, MBA would all be quality opponents. Will it ever happen - heck no! Why does Maryville keep playing Alcoa each year? Close travel, heck they could walk there and still win. ALMOST always a victory. Same with Blount and Heritage. Yes, I think Halls will play Gibbs - same reason as Maryville playing Heritage, almost always a win and a good gate. Nothing better than Gibbs & Halls on a Thursday night. Don't look for Halls to play Bearden or Sevier Co. With them having to play 6A schools in the district, they will not chance playing more 6a schools and loosing a playoff bid. We will pad our W/L record with a pushover or two.
  5. Halls is the lead dog in the pack. Everyone else is looking at our rear end.
  6. rebelron, You are far smarter than you let on. You know that Maryville is never, ever, ever going to travel 2 hours to play a non-district game. You have got to be kidding to think that GQ would do that. Look how far they have travelled in the past. Only once in my memory have they ever gone as far as Elizabethton and that was for the semi's.
  7. haveityourway, I dont think Maryville will pick us to be a nondistrict game. From looking at the brackets, they only need 2 nondistrict games and 1 will always be Alcoa. Just guessing, but if they wanted a game that would rake in some money each and every year, I would go for Oak Ridge, Sevier Co (might be to far to go). D-B would be a great game but there aint no way in heck they will travel all the way to Kingsport.
  8. Fulton will do fine in 2008, but the real question is will they stay 4A in '09 or will they have to move up to 5A. Strong rumors I'm hearing are Fulton and possibly Seymour and Gibbs are on the verge of moving up.
  9. I've always heard of the battles with OR and Karns from older folks in Halls. I would think those schools would be ones that Halls would like to play. I also do not see West and South Doyle as being big rivals unless SD still had the wild guy as there coach (Swafford). I can promise you AC will be a big game as long as Kerr is there and Catholic is a game that will be big for Coach because of his friendship with Pemberton. Campbell co will be an easy win, Powell and Central are always a tossup but we should win more of these than we lose.
  10. jjwsiv, Lets see if you can understand this...go back 40 years. No playoffs, just some type of bowl games. No water at practice, gas 25 cents a gallon (heck we would all go for that), minimum wage is less than $2 an hour 9Nobody wants that). My most intellectual friend it is called CHANGE. The plan is not going to be good for everyone, it is not going to be liked by everyone. You have at the bottom of your original post state organizations. Look up and see what some of them do. Lets go back to the way of playoffs of the past 10 years - how do you justify a school going 2+ hours to play games, i.e. Campbell Co to D-B, D-B to OR, etc. What about your former coach stopping the games with the Red Devils after saying it was great for both schools budgets. Whoa, now we are back playing again. EDIT- >>>see the board rules<<<
  11. What do the Red Devil fans think about the new district schedule? Personally, I'm glad Maryville is in 6A where they belong. They would have been in 5A 4 years ago cept some schools moved up and that left Maryville down in 4A. I kinda like the thought of playing the same people in football, baseball, softball and basketball. Now I dont know if this is true, but I heard someone called Coach Julian a month ago and told him this is the district he would be in. Can somebody verify this rumor?
  12. ela, Last time I knew anything about Warren Co. they werent worth a hoot. Now after going back and looking, it seems they have improved and FCHS aint worth a hoot. Maybe you can turn it around and get back to where it once was.
  13. We welcome you to the big boys league. Bet you wont go anywhere near undefeated in 2009 and after.
  14. ela, If I am looking at this right you would have to come up with 4 nondistrict games. I would bet a dollar you could find a way to keep an easy win like Warren Co.
  15. coachwhoknows, We have the same thing in Knox Co, they had issues in Jeff Co, and I've heard/read where they are now having issues in Memphis with the same coach from a few years ago.
  16. Why are the football coaches the only ones gripping about the classification? Isn't this almost exactly what basketball, baseball and softball have been playing for YEARS!
  17. coach, I don't understand your theory when you state, "what is fair when a school is mandated to play a school in a higher classification and that determines you going to the playoffs." Aren't you basically playing the same schools that you play in basketball, baseball and softball?
  18. jjwsiv, Why are you complaining about the new organization of the football playoffs? Your school had a chance to hire someone NEW to come in and put some juice back into the Eagles program and you hire from within after 5 months. Yea, you really got some good answers for the new classification!
  19. I have been waiting for a long time to say some things about classification. So here goes... I think you will see 3 classes that will all split into 6 classes for football championships in D - 1. You will have 2 classes in D - 2 that will have championships. That will give us 8 Football champions. Too many / too few, who the heck knows. Some blame Riverdale for creating this BS mess, some blame RC. It makes no differnece what the T$$AA does today through Thursday, EVERYONE AINT GONNA BE PLEASED. Here is a new and novel idea. Lets go to 5 classes and play privates and publics TOGETHER. Everybody always blamed the split on Riverdale not being able to beat BA, well Coach Rankin is now at Alcoa and he probably has a greater opportunity to recruit then he did at Riverdale (don't know if he did or not), he has not lost to Goodpasture in the last two years, so he wouldn't have a gripe PLUS the rumor in and around K-town he has the most talented young players they have ever had coming up thru the ranks. Now the Z plan is supposed to save money. I don't care where Maryville goes they have an easy road...3 county games (Alcoa, Billy Blunt, Heritage). If they stay in 4a the farthest travel they have or will have is Clinton or Anderson County. If they go to 5A the longest road trip will be Bearden, Farragut or Hardin Valley. Now granted Maryville will have to find 2 non region games cause Blount and heritage will be in their region. I will be glad to help them get a schedule...lets see Oak Ridge, Baylor, McCallie, D-B, BA, Smyrna or you can go and play Karns, West, Science Hill, Jeff Co, Sevier Co. All of these schools will be in the same 5A class...or you can continue on down the food chain and play Powell, Central, Halls, AC. Last but not least Maryville will be in the playoffs because there only competition will be West, OR, Karns, HVA, heritage, Blount, Bearden, Farragut. From what I have heard 2 of those teams will make the playoffs. Now, all of the Maryville faithfull can get on here and shot down what I just said. Rural/ urban aint got a chance, staying pat is not gonna work, all we got left is ZZZZZZZZZZ plan. And everybody knows that what the Maryville Board member wants, he usually gets.
  20. bama4life, From what I'm hearing here in Knoxville, the Z plan is what is going to be passed.
  21. Told you so...3 days since I posted, "Who gives a crap..." and not one single Maryville fan or opponent responds.
  22. My bad, I thought they were asking for a change THIS year and even I know that couldn't be done. Don't you think T$$AA knows the students have to come from some other high school and all they would have to do is find out how the enrollment will be determined by the BOE in Clarksville. They are going to place this new school in some class for the next four years, so how would they determine which class to place it in? I have looked on there web site and it does not list a county AD. It has an activities coordinator, but no AD. Is this the same person, just a title that is worded differently? Some other questions for the more intelligent ones on this board...why does T$$AA let people move up in class? Why not let them stay exactly where there enrollment places them? I say you play where you fall. I have heard rumors that the only reason Maryville is still in 4A is because all of the Williamson Co schools moved up to 5A. By doing so this put the numbers different than they would have been.
  23. Thats a stupid request to be asking for.
  24. Who gives a crap where Brent Burnette lives now? His college coach will only care about him if he is good enough to help MTSU back to the top.
  25. Now I certainly don't have a puppy in this fight, but if a man has been coaching football at NE for 9 years and he is NOT READY to be a head coach, then you ought to fire his butt. The big question is who determines when someone is ready to be a head coach...what is the criteria. Sounds like the Principal, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, and the system Athletic Director don't know what the heck they are doing.
