  1. Yes, I'm pretty sure Logan will be playing. At least that's what I heard over the summer. Blake Davis is the guard from Central. I haven't seen him in a year or so, but unless he's gone backwards (highly doubtful) he should get plenty of playing time at the guard spot.
  2. Where does Westview fit in this mix?
  3. Nope, I talked with Coach McCord last night at the Lake County Jamboree (middle school). He said he didn't know who they were matched up with yet. He only knew that Lake Co was playing Dyersburg this year. He felt DC would probably end up with Millington. I thought Brighten might be it. If someone knows, please post
  4. I tkink they will be fairly strong this year. I look for them to battle with Gibson County to be #2 in the district. Westview always seems to surprise me, so I won't count them out. So my pick is DC, GC, D-Burg and Westview top four in the district. Looking forward to what we will see at the jamboree on the 10th.
  5. Lexington will be Dyer County's first game this year. If my schedule is correct Lexington will travel to Newbern for a Hall of Fame game on 13 Nov. See you there?
  6. I heard Obion Central was playing at Lake Co this Saturday with some other teams. Does anyone have any info?
  7. Yeah, pretty sorry. Just worthless enough to make the All State Tourny Team. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I guess you wasn't at the Dyersburg game at Newbern. Who was it that got the steal (out of bounds play) then the winning drive to the basket with 2 seconds left?
  8. Preston Barbee. Not sure about DSCC. He did play for Dyersburg HS.
  9. State Tournament Trivia Question: How many players still in the tourny have siblings still playing college ball the 2nd week of March? I know of one, CJ Crittenden (So. PG Dyer Co.) and Montrell Crittenden (Sr. PG AUM). Montrell Crittenden's (Dyer Co. '02) Auburn University Montgomery Senators advanced today at the NAIA Div1 Championship in Kansas City. Congratulations to both for fine seasons so far and to their proud MaMa.
  10. Don't sweat it. He's just a high school kid who jumped on the bandwagon since we won the district. I remember our 42-85 loss at Liberty in Dec 04. As much as we have improved since that season, I'm afraid Liberty has too.
  11. DC will have to play the game of their life. It wouldn't hurt for Liberty to have a game like the first half tonight. Could be getting close to midnight for cinderella. Hope it's a goodun'. GO CHOCTAWS
  12. You've got it backwards...Dyer Co. will beat White House tonight 'cause they play defense and speed the game up.
  13. At high school level? No 1. You already have the 5 second closely guarded rule; Which seems to work fine in West TN. The Refs may count different from game to game, but seem to keep it fair within each game. 2. Scorers have enough trouble keeping up with the alternate possession arrow. 3. Allows more options for coaches to develop a style of play that matches their level of talent
  14. [/quote fisk and crittenton play where in college? Crittenton plays ( They are still playing) for Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM). He led the team in rebounds in their SSAC Tournament Championship win last week. The Senators now have won 12 consecutive games and with the win, picked up the automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament to be held in Kansas City, Mo., from March 14-20
  15. Don't mention this group of Choctaws in the same breath as Butch. He was two coaches ago. As long as Dyersburg middle school has an outstanding basketball program with over 100 kids trying out each year; Other schools will always pick up a few looking for chances that might not be available at DHS. Ripley, Lake Co., Dyer Co. Dyersburg, and Obion Central have all gained and lost players to each other's program in several sports over the last few years. Tell Justin, Dejuan, D'Angelo. or Steven they were recruited. They will probably set you straight, on second thought they are probably too polite to respond accordingly. Where's your team playing next Wednesday?
  16. Dude, you need to change your quote, or your post.
  17. The TCA loss was before Blake. Taylor, and Hurst became eligible.
  18. Too bad it's not enough to get Coach McCord coach of the year in District 13AA. Great job by the entire coaching staff and especially McCord.
  19. Down by 11 with 3 minutes left. Choctaws shutdown BTW and score the last 13 points. The winner is a drive to the hole with 4 seconds left by CJ Crittenden. Huge game by Taylor and Kimble.
  20. I take it you are talking about a 16 year old player who was standing on that side of the court when time expired during a double overtime 1 point victory being overcome by emotion and running down the sideline pulling the front of his jersey up and pointing to the "Choctaws" proudly on the front and saying "number 1". WOW.... how disrepectful! How could he show such a lack of maturity? Those poor fans! I'm sure it ruined the fine show both teams put on for 2 hours. They probably lost sleep over being subjected to such a lack of class. If that is all you can come up with to bash the Choctaws (or the Cavs) after such an exciting game, why mention it? You weren't even there. Did you lose respect too? Go ahead and flame me, but to come on here and spout this (2nd hand account) of a 4 second incident after both teams played so hard, with so much heart and emotion is well..silly.
  21. Think they will make the trip to Newbern? They better get there early. We still won't let them take their drinks into the gym.
  22. In the Choctaw huddle before the start of the 2nd OT, Coach McCord holds up the dri-erase board. There is a line down the middle, on one side is written Memphis on the other Home. He asked the team "where do you want to play?" They all pointed to "Home". He then said, here's how we get there. Somehow they cranked the the pressure just alittle bit more and pulled it out. Great game by both teams. Good luck to the Cavilers as they travel to Mitchell. Choctaws take on BTW at home. GO CHOCTAWS! edited for typo, still a little excited
  23. Why would you think it will be different tonight?
  24. Well Dyer Co. and Crockett Co. defeated their region foe by 20 tonight. DC vs Northside was another struggle with foul trouble. DC's bench was superior again and kept slowy adding to the lead after starting the half up by 4. Northsides's big men made some noise inside offensively but soon succumbed to foul trouble with DC's quickness driving the lane. As usual, DC's press created many scoring opportunities and timely threes by D'Angelo, CJ, and Justin kept the defense off balanced. In the second game, Crockett out ran F-W and L. Johnson hit some looong threes to bust out on F-W. FW had some sucess inside as Crockett couldn't seem to cover the big guys after a couple of passes. Long rebounds and quick outlets was the key for Crockett tonight. FW seemed to be moving in slow motion the second half. This sets the stage for the fourth Crockett vs DC game this year. DC leads 2-1, can they beat CC 3 times this year? Crockett looked alot better tonight than previously. But they didn't face a press like ours. Should be a great game. Congratulations to both teams, ya'll represented the district admirably .
