  1. Wishing the Cherokees a safe trip down on the I75 war path! Hopefully they will run into a a Big Blue Tornado! Looking forward to a great game!
  2. It is the first game for the Blue so hopefully not too many jitters! Hope the Cherokees have a safe trip down. Looking forward to a good game. Don't forget your turf cleats! McCallie 24 McMinn 21 Go Blue!
  3. Your optimism is refreshing! Looking forward to the season and the jamboree tonight! Still a long season ahead, we will take it one game at a time.
  4. I was there for most of it. BC had some good runs and decent passes. Lots of younger players in on both sides. Looked like coaches were wanting to get of feel of depth etc... BC seemed to have a little trouble adjusting to the turf! They looked pretty solid otherwise. They played with class and sportsmanship and it was a good outing on both sides! The Blue seemed to be able to put together more on the option. Good to see! Looking forward to tomorrow's jamboree!
  5. Was at the scrimmage and it seemed to go well for both sides. The defenses were obviously further along than the offenses. Your kicker/punter looked good. Your bread/butter seems to be the quick passing game. Your receivers looked very good. The Owl DB's dropped a few potentials pix they should have caught... passes that shouldn't have been thrown. The Blue running game seemed to work best when out of the backfield quickly. QB seemed to gain some experience in reading the option well. Did manage to connect on a few passes with the receiver being left wide open. Both sides played everybody but the waterpeeps, and really got to see what works for them and what they need to improve upon! Hopefully, next year you will join us for post scrimmage watermelon!
  6. Welcome back old wiseone! Just back from the Ooltewah scrimmage. Defense looks further along than the offense. Offensively, only saw QB wearing #2. He seemed to read the option fairly well but threw a couple of picks. Accuracy was better when he set his feet! Running backs looked good. Some really good linemen. Some decent blocking. Kicker? All in all, a fairly decent event. We served watermelon to the team following scrimmage and it was really good and cold! I haven't read Murphy yet (I must be slipping!). It will be interesting to see how the team progresses by the Bradley scrimmage next Weds!
  7. 7/7 are a non-sanctioned event. No officials required. Serious personal liability on the part of the official is they do a nonsanctioned event. This one was hosted/sponsored by Signal on their fields owned by Hamilton County schools. I would assume that players would only be covered by their personal insurance and whatever the school system provides. As to heat index, safety/emt type equipment and personnel, that would not be subject to TSSAA rule and subject to the rule of the school district. My understanding is that 12 teams were participating with no ambulance on premises, just the trainers a school might have. In my mind, the host school is not accepting responsibility for control of the fans/spectators and safety of the players. How much liability could this open up for the school district itself to have this type of unsanctioned, unsupervised event occurring on their property? The disparity in the way the 2 different principals handled the discipline is interesting. I would say that invites oversight from a higher authority.
  8. I will try to do my very best! Go Big Blue!

Questions, comments?
  10. I'm not sure I can think of a reply. I am speechless that someone who follows these boards would even have such a thought.
  11. The incident of finger pointing I was refering to was not the Greeneville game, but rather the Eagleville game. Did it happen against Greeneville too? I was just curious about the unsportsmanlike/personal foul yardage. I think that might be a better indicator than just fighting. I'm not real sure what we rack up a game or year, but I know the boys don't like to get many as they come with consequences in the form of extra 110's. As to the lost tuition, I haven't seen any foreclosure signs at either the red or the blue. We are fine.
  12. How many unsportsmanlike conduct penalties did SM rack up? I seem to remember an incident of finger pointing at a scoreboard when the opponent was already severely down and an announcer talking about a point scored a minute? Those things tend to come back to haunt one.
  13. Agree on the Teva's. Chaco's much better! Of course, red on anyone is questionable! Couldn't tell much from the video, but thanx for posting it. Stephen Hargis was on the radio today with a nice interview and discussion of the topic. Good luck to all the teams this year!
  14. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Another major reason that administration/security should be present. An ambulance present would have seemed to be a necessity, not only for this situation but for player safety as well.
  15. Officials are instructed to not lay a hand on a player during a fight. They are instructed to simply stand back and take numbers for ejection. There is too much liability if anyone (players or officials) get hurt in our very litigious society. Officials are required to submit an "unusual situation" report of unsportsmanlike conduct which includes the players ejected. The fence is to keep unauthorized personnel off the playing area. I do find it interesting that there were no administrators or other security present to try to help control things. If an adult physically punched a 17 year old at the simplest you have assault and possibly more depending on circumstances. What type of liability does that open the school to if they are allowing this event to occur on their property with no supervision present. It seems some rules that can really cost a team might need to be reinforced. Such as throwing of punches and leaving of sidelines not to mention unsportsmanlike actions. The instruction should be begin with the adults!
  16. A big thank you to all the service men and women for their service to our country! May all have a terrific holiday. Looking forward to great BBQ, the Braves game, homemade ice cream, awesome fireworks and the end of dead zone!
  17. It is an exciting day!!! The new rule books are here!!! Much better than the phone book!
  18. Perfectly ok! It was great... Blueson home from school (just left for football again). Resting up for the fall and the craziness of Friday nights couple with Saturdays now! TSSAA rules meeting in a few weeks!
  19. Wishing everyone a Happy Dad's Day! Hope you get to do something you enjoy and spend some time with your loved ones! Of course, it would be a plus if we had football stuff to attend to!
  20. Best of luck to Coach Euverard as he undertakes this new challenge. Also best of luck to the son as he makes the transition!
  21. Way to go cbg! The House sent it to some sub-committee today for further study. It seems they had not considered the all the ramifications thoroughly enough! All 4 large cities were opposed.
  22. The State Senate just passed a school voucher bill that would allow public school students who feel "trapped" in an under-performing school to get a voucher from the public schools district to pay for tuition at a private school of their choice. In Hamilton County that voucher would be in the neighborhood of $4800. This measure has yet to be acted upon by the State House. How would this affect eligibility? I don't know how much tuition is at the smaller privates, but that would be a drop in the bucket for the larger ones. I could see a scenario where a family qualified for 75% aid and with a voucher be over the top of the financial aid limit.
  23. I believe Central was located on Dodds Avenue on what is now the varsity soccer field on the McCallie School campus. McCallie purchased the old facility in the early 70's, utilized the gym known as Killebrew Gym as a wrestling venue for awhile and eventually became athletic fields.
  24. I'm thinking you are definitely in the running for partial credit! If R gains possession in the endzone, they did not do so with clean hands. It was illegally batted there. They would be penalized 15 yards for the illegal bat and given the ball on the 22. They would have to earn the TD. PSK spot foul on R. R ball on the 22 first and 10. If the ball goes out of bounds it is a safety. If K recovers the ball and is tackled or falls in the end zone it is a safety. K can recover and advance the ball out of the end zone. If they advance the ball out of the end zone, they must make their yardage for the the first down or the ball goes over to R.
  25. Okey dokey! I'll just go to work with no internet access! I am assuming that you want an answer for each scenario?
