  1. One kid, I believe it's Wharton came from Knox Catholic.
  2. I agree that the privates have an advantage...a very unfair one, and it's unfair to the kids who are caught in the middle. These kids can work their butts off, but in the end money talks and you know what walks. It's very disheartening to programs who play by the rules that they are supposed to and witness first hand the deceit of many programs out there. Furthermore, what kind of message is being sent to the kids who attend privates? Win at any cost, even if it's wrong the way they won it? That's not a very good message to be teaching these kids, especially by many of the schools who years ago would not have stood for such a thing. I guess it's a sign of the times, and that is sad. I think it's time many of these programs had a reality check.
  3. "That's the bottom line because you know it's the truth". Funny how none of the folks who advocate for private schools disputed my post last night about the real reason the privates want to remain in DI. Face it, if you're forced to go to DII you won't get the all star players to come to your school and you'll go back to getting your teeth kicked in by the Bolivars, the Liberty Tech's AE, Alcoa...the list goes on and on...ie.,teams who have earned it by sheer talent in their own back yard, not by how much money a school has.
  4. Yea, these kids just wake up one morning and realize that their life long dream has been to play for a private school somewhere!!! Give the general public more credit than that!! I'm not accusing FCS, CPA, CAK, KC or any other private school of anything. I just think it ironic that all of a sudden they are able to compete against teams who have dominated the game for years. Thirty years ago you never heard of these teams. Now all of a sudden they are at the top of the charts. This didn't just happen over night and I along with others think that it is high time that something be done about it. Private schools need to play for the DII championship against the other privates, simple as that.
  5. Good post. The motive of the private schools is simple. Many of the kids that they get to play on their teams want to play in the "big dance" come tournament time. It's a little more prestigous playing in Murphy Center against public schools instead of against each other at Lipscomb a few weeks earlier. The fear of the private schools is that if they are forced into DII many of the "all stars" will opt to play for their own schools in which they are zoned for and they will revert back to not getting the recognition that they so desire. The really sad part is that it appears that many of these schools are more into winning a state championship at every sport at any cost than what they were initially designed for.
  6. Congratulations SMHS Panthers!!!! Impressive win tonight over Unicoi!!!! 82-62!!!!Great job!!! Go all the way!!!!
  7. i think its humorous the jets think they are the best becuz they win ONE out of FOUR games. and it wasnt some huge win, when the jets beat the panthers 34 to 0, then u can call urself the best in cumberland county (which is still not a big accomplishment). and the cchs coach is the one that called the game off becuz he said the field was gonna be soaked and his players dont play well in the rain and he wanted each team to have an even chance. ya the jets won congratulations on ur first win against stone since stone has been open, it was a close one, nothing like i was hearing about how the jets were gonna run all over us i even heard somebody say 60 to 0 LOL come on ur cchs not alcoa We're the best in the county THIS year. We won THIS year, that's why we think we're the best THIS year. No one but you has mentioned that we think we've been the best all four years. It was a close game, but in the end it comes down to who's ahead on the scoreboard. We're the best in the COUNTY this year. What is wrong with this? Personally, I wish that they would stop playing this game. BOTH teams are pathetic, and when they are put on the same field it shows miserably. It showed this year and last year. Outside of this county we're laughed at. People outside of the county refer to this game as the BIGGEST LOSER Bowl. Stone got the crown this year and they deserve it. What is sad, however, is that you could play this game ten times and it would probably be a 5-5 split. Maybe that is what we ought to do. Play each other 11 times a year and keep it in the county. At least that would guarantee a Cumberland County team having a winning season!!!
  8. Stupid isn't the word for it. It was probably the most absurd foul I've ever seen. Given the position he was in the ball had virtually no chance of hitting the board, much less going in. That's what you get though when you have a football player in that kind of situation. Aside from that, though, it should've never come down to that. KC gave Stone multiple opportunties to win the game in the end. They just didn't want it, is all I can say. Their play in the last quarter had the smell of a mutt dog's as$. Their play always seems to go down about this time every season. Stone is a very talented team this year, but they're going to have to pull their heads out of their butts if they want to have a chance to win district.
  9. From what I've seen Carter has the talent to beat anyone in the state. What they don't have is discipline. AC will play hard but I would say that AE will pull it out. I don't foresee a blowout in this one. Good luck AC!!
  10. That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure. Congrats, anyway.
  11. Is this the Chelsea Brown from Stone Memorial High School?
  12. Congrats to the Panthers on a big win over Loudon!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Good luck against AC.
