  1. The onside kick was a great call at that point of the game, and shifted momentum Polk's way. The ball should have been fielded by a Sequoyah player, but it was a good gamble that worked. Polk has a very impressive program and they are a good measuring stick for the Chiefs. The discipline they play with, just doing their job play after play,is a real credit to the coaching staff. They don't make a lot of mistakes, and patience in this game will be a virtue. Should be a dandy! GO CHIEFS!
  2. Listen folks, the past is over and done with. The only thing that matters is today and the rest of our days as they are granted to us. I will admit I was and have been as upset as anyone, and that has gotten me nowhere. I'm very proud of the boys and the way they have responded this season, I'm rooting just as hard as ever for them to win every game they play, and I already consider them to be very successful. They are the ones who matter. Enjoy the effort and pride they play the game with (and skill) and let the rest go. If I have been the cause of anyone being offended, I publicly apologize right now and humbly ask your forgiveness. I miss my son playing, but my boys are still there,I love them every one and to them I say......GO CHIEFS!!!!!
  3. Congratulations Chief players and coaches! Keep up the good work!
  4. One of Tellico's assistant coaches told me Howard was loaded athletically, just hurt themselves with critical mistakes. Also, he said Tellico played well with intensity and heart. From what I understood, they had a couple of opportunities inside the Howard 20,but couldn't punch it in. Good luck to both.
  5. 6-0 at halftime? Turnovers,lack of concentration,or what?
  6. It's not about agreeing or disagreeing with you,it is the way you are stating your so-called facts. You get on here and bash a team of high school football players and whine about maturity??!!! Come on,really! It doesn't matter where you are from or what has frustrated you, leave this team out of it. You don't want anyone agreeing with you, you just want to show your butt and make fun of a program that is down at the moment. I think I will watch for you in a couple years to see who you are backing then and who you are bashing. I believe you are one who will pick at a sore just to watch it ooze.,My feelings aren't hurt, but I do care about these boys, and I know I would not allow you to run them down in person, which I am quite sure you would not do. Anyways, have fun with this post,I am through now,and will wait for your "mature" reply(LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL).
  7. Telling it "like it is" and like you believe are two entirely different things altogether. Slamming teams on a computer shows your class(lack of). Quite likely, your vendetta against Sequoyah stems from being steam-rolled by Jerome Felton often during your limited playing days.
  8. Ah,go on back to your little red wagon and your sandbox! Good luck tonight,Chiefs! Finish the job this year. Last year was close, get over the hump this time!
  9. Brandon must have wanted a closer game than most would have believed, including this wreck(pun intended).
  10. Thank you for the kind words. See,this is what I was talking about. This was the type parent I was priviledged to be around. Always supportive and positive. Even though we didn't win as much as any of us would have liked, this is still one of the greatest experiences of my life. I wish for every coach the pleasure of working with this kind of parent in their future. By the way,"God,I still love those kids!!!"
  11. I suppose I have been one of the lucky ones. The parents I had the priviledge of working with for 8 years were terrific! Only 1 time was there a disagreement, lasted about 5 minutes, then was totally forgotten. I have always believed it was because these parents cared more about the team as a whole, treated every kid like it was their own out there, and were willing to work at a completely enjoyable experience. Too many times it turns into getting my kid ahead at whoever's expense. The real losers in this case are the rest of the kids, often also including the one being pushed to the front. When adults adversely affect even one kid on any team for any reason is a shame. Sports is for the kids, not the parents ego. When that is forgotten, negatives grow on the field and in the stands. Too many times the parent has to learn from their kid, instead of teaching how to be a mature adult. OP,this is a good thread with a lot of good posts, and hopefully each of us reading this will remember in the future to be a positive and not a negative.
  12. True, but I was not going to challenge that. Now,I just try to teach my young man that disappointments will come in life, but you have to fight through them to enjoy the good times. He is beginning to recover from his disappointment and (I hope) to put all behind him. Good luck to all the young men who will strap it on this coming season!
  13. Someone help out and add the helmet design to the thread. I looked through earlier and couldn't find it.
  14. You must vacate your old address(no utilities),move more than 20 miles from your previous school zone, and be able to prove it is not athletics related. I know this because I have unfortunately had to check on this.
  15. Two things came to mind when I saw this. First,I'm not on a side, because at this point I couldn't care any less about football. Too many games to enjoy the sport. Right now,I can't see myself going anywhere to watch a game. Second, this is and should always be about the boys. They are the only ones who matter. If I can somehow drag myself to a game,it will be to support them, nothing more. I do want to wish the team good luck, and whoever the new coach will be. So long, see you around.
  16. I'm sorry,Dave. I'm sorry coach Summey. I'm sorry Slobber Knocker. I'm sorry foreal. I'm sorry anybody else I have had a conflict with. I should never have been involved out there to begin with or on this board. Thanks,JR,for the phone call. I appreciated it and my son did also. Good luck,Chiefs!
  17. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm done, have it your way.
  18. The boys should be back at the school at 5:30,game starts at 7:00.
  19. We knew you guys were somewhat shorthanded, but we sure don't want to take away from the effort of the kids at all. I was most impressed with your QB,very accurate,strong-armed,and able to get out of trouble. Looks like you have that covered for the next couple years. I thought it was a good scrimmage for both teams. You mentioned the good part. The coaches found out a lot about some young players that can only help in the fall. I was impressed with our overall play. It seems the momentum from the end of the season has carried over into the spring and continued to build. Thanks for coming over for the scrimmage, we'll be pulling for you guys this fall. By the way, #52 for you all looked strong, made a few pancake blocks. He made a few of those nice hits. Good luck and GO CHIEFS!
  20. I thought it was 3-3 with the firsts, but I could be wrong. S.B. and J.W. looked great as well as newcomer J.B. They had plenty of running room most plays, the line played great at times. They were not overwhelmed by any means. Defensively, got after the ball well, just got a couple things to work on. Really need a pass rush from somewhere. Overall, I think every Chief fan there should have been pleased. The boys are obviously much stronger and a step or two quicker. I was especially impressed with the offensive execution after just a week of practice, looked really fluid at times. Good confidence builder going into summer work, should keep the guys inspired to keep up the hard work in the weight room.
