  1. sounds like a baylor/mccallie thing to me...
  2. one outstanding achievement that needs to be mentioned is Coach Mac taking 6 wrestlers from the Gordon Lee program and coming in at 4th in State. he's pretty much jump-started that program and seems to be building it as nicely as he did for Ringgold...once he gets that middle school on track as a nice feeder then it will be just another outstanding program in the Tennessee Valley to but heads with.
  3. hey mike...i'll give Zach the message and tell him to get on here in his spare time to see what's going on. good match Friday...
  4. does anyone know if Mike will wrestle at the next level? i know Zach has been batting the idea around but wondered about Mike...
  5. it's been one of the greatest privileges of my life to watch Zach and Alex grow up and succeed on and off the field. i wish i could have been there for everything, but duty and committment called, as it will someday for you both. i can still remember like it was yesterday wrestling around in the living room with Zach and roughin' him up...all the while hoping that he'd take the punishing from his older brother and do something with it. he's never taken crap from anybody, but always the first to stick out a hand. his heart is bigger than i could ever hope mine to be and he's an inspiration to us all. when those final seconds slipped off the clock my heart sunk for Zach, and to watch him hang his head was absolutely one of the hardest things i've had to watch. i wanted nothing more than to see him walk off a champion and in some weird way i got my wish. Thanks for letting me live vicariously thru you many times over, and sorry for yelling...remember that there might be someone watching that cares a little too much about your success (in a good way). i'll always be your older brother, but being older doesn't necessitate wisdom and class. as long as you leave it all out there and wear it on your sleeve, regret will never be an issue...
  6. the DII link is busted and hotlinks the D1 photos fyi...
  7. thanks for the clarification, which is what i was after all along.
  8. i knew it could go both ways, as it appeared w/ their match at Baylor this year. and after watching Bell's semi match I had no idea what to expect...i had to stop filming Zach's semi match just to watch Bell and couldn't believe it was that close at the end.
  9. does his public display of emotion beckon that of the coach? my thought is that it may have been taken care of behind the scenes, but no doubt casting a poor light on a respectable establishment
  10. class is not an issue because i've said nothing in regards to not showing class. i've brought up a couple of issues that are points for discussion, if you see fit to think otherwise then so be it. i did say i wasn't taking away from the job that Mike Bell did out on the mat...he wrestled a very smart match, and accomplished what he came to do, that's obvious. Zach is a gracious wrestler, no doubt about it, but what i've stated is my opinion and you make it out to be classless and tarnishing. subjective calls are in question and that's the main subject.
  11. it wasn't pretty when mccallie pulled the headgear stunt...a lot too much in my opinion.
  12. in my not-so humble opinion, is one of the worst ways/styles to wrestle. it works, which is why it's hard to argue against it, but it's appearance is aggrevating...another reason why it works. Baylor has always done this well, as well as aggrevating their opponent to the point of making dumb decisions, thus exploiting weak points. it's legal so some would say no need to argue style, but if the refs are gonna make kids wrestle in the middle of the mat, they might as well make them wrestle on their own two feet. if the opponent refused to confront such a feeble attempt who would be called for stalling, if anyone? possibly the guy on his knees, unwilling to face his opponent? i've always wondered about that answer, but have never seen anyone refuse to confront the issue...
  13. went the wrong way...after watching video there is a clear two point no-call in favor of Goss only after the ref decides to wait 3 seconds to blow the whistle signifying that the wrestlers were out of bounds. mike bell wrestled well, not taking that away from him, but when wrestlers are knee for knee, side by side and you give it to the other guy then you have to call it the other way...sorry brother.
