  1. very tough, physical game with several yellow cards. officiating was inconsistent throughout the game with BHS getting the short end of the stick. Collierville scored in the first minutes or so of the game with a shot from nearly midfield. BHS rallied back to take a 2-1 lead at the half. Totally shut down Collierville which frustrated them. very good win for the Lady Bruins.
  2. still can't figure out what Crawford was thinking on that 2 pt conversion call. BHS couldn't run the ball all night to the outside with the quickness of Smyrna and with the ball at the 2 yd line and a stacked backfield everyone knew the Bruins were going to try it again without any depth to the field of play. Weber played brilliantly and taking the game out of his hands on the last play was a huge mistake. the play that was run had negative yds gained for the night. We pass the ball on that play we would have a much better chance to tie it up. yes its easy to second guess that call but I don't think anyone would have faulted him for passing on that play and not getting it but the run game was virtually nonexistent all night. so I would love to know what they were thinking and why Crawford thought it would work that time
  3. do you think the brentwood center will be able to get his snaps off the ground this week. I sure hope Crawford has him work on that. thursday night was ridiculous. the kid could not get the ball off the ground on the shotgun snaps. the poor qb had to pick it up off the ground almost every single time.
  4. could somebody from mckenzie explain why comer doesn't let the Johnson kid play tailback more. He darn near singlehandly won the UC game but only after he got to play tailback in the 4th quarter. Then does a similar thing when the Moore get got hurt the next week by rushing for 70+ yds in less than 2 quarters. the kid has skills and it seems the coach for some reason doesn't want him to play offense. If he got 15 to 20 carries a night he would rush consistently for 100+ yds. I don't get. I have seen them play once and he was clearly the best rb on the field when he allowed to play the position. Last night against Greenfield he got no carries. Comer needs to explain himself but I guess since he is winning no one will question it. Come state playoff time he better start running the Moore, Fussell and Johnson in a regular rotation unless thats to complicated for him. otherwise they won't make it past the 2nd round.
  5. could someone explain why the Brentwood center could not get his snap off the ground last night when they set up in the shotgun. the kid literally rolled it to the QB all night. I couldn't understand why Crawford didn't pull the guy out of the game or make him practice it while the defense was on the field. nearly 75 to 80 percent of his shotgun snaps were on the ground. surely there has to be a reason.
  6. how bad is it? will he end up redshirting at Lipscomb next year?
  7. I agree. Slater should have been selected. Clearly his injury hurt him but up until that time he burns BA with 27 and is the MVP of the Battle of the States tournament that included WH, UC, Sycamore, Ensworth among others. He nearly has a triple double on CPA the night of his injury and was clearly the second best player in that tough district. That should have counted for something. I still would have included him and believe that he earned it. Had he not gotten hurt DL probably would have made it out of the Region and certainly wouldn't have finished 4th in their district. I certainly would have selected him over several of the others selected. anyway he got a nice scholarhip and I look forward to seeing him play for Lipscomb University later this year.
  8. I haven't seen DC play at all this year but if they have any athletes near the level of the UC players then WH is one and done. WH is not athletic at all. They are very very well coached and that keeps them in the game. Gaines is big and slow but has good hands. he cannot get up and down the court in a fast paced game. the other players are average at best. Barnes thinks he is a player but he will disappear for long periods of time if he doesn't get the ball. Woods is a hustler with limited skills as is the point guard. they get all they can get out of what they have. A loss tonight will spare them the embarrassment they will face if they play Liberty Tech. Liberty Tech is UC magnified!. They might bust the clock on WH unless WH puts it in the deep freeze.
  9. Sounds like they did a pretty good University of Memphis imitation. that's about average for the Tigers too. Pathetic. Must have good athletes to overcome that stat. compare it to Gleason girls who made like 52 of 55 free throws.
  10. don't think MJ Brown from Union City would agree. Barnes got dogged by him. Heck the whole WH team did. And Barnes really lit it up the last two games huh? get real Barnes is an ok player but not great by anyones imagination.
  11. Yeah, the Flash really lit up last night didn't he? Station Camp w/o Jenkins wins. guess if Jenkins had been there it would have been a blowout. Both teams are lucky they didn't play Liberty. Station Camp, WH, and Sycamore are all mediocre teams in weak districts and it is beginning to show now.
  12. Unstoppable yes if the game is played only and the half court with no fastbreaks allowed. A team that runs can take him totally out of the game early. WH has to keep the game to a low scoring affair. If the other team scores near 60 then WH is in trouble. Look at the box scores of their games. Gaines needs to lose about 50 pounds or work harder on the weights. He is a big load with good hands but can't move and certainly can't jump well.
  13. Good point. he doesn't look like he's in any kind of shape. If you saw him against UC you would have felt sorry for the young man. UC scored so fast he barely made to midcourt before having to turn back around and set up on offense. every 2 or 3 minutes he was begging to come out of the game.
  14. boy I got you fired up didn't I. getting a little defensive there pal. save your energy for tomorrow night. on the other hand don't think you will expend much enery because there won't be anything to yell about. In fact, unless you live near Waverly probably not worth the drive over there. I'll shoot you a reply tomorrow night about this time and we'll discuss the blowout. Fasten your seatbelt pal.
  15. I think Slater broke his ankle with a cross over. Mitchell has the most talent but doesn't seem to know how to use it. I think he averages like 6 pts a game. Last time I checked both WH and Sycamore were AA teams. I think they played each other early in the season without Lohin and it was a close game. I am quite sure Gaines was probably not in BB shape for WH. Both played in the Battle of the States and neither was very impressive although well coached. I look forward to following up this post after tomorrow night. I wish the boys from Sycamore well but they will have to play the game of their life and LT will have to play the absolute worst game possible for Sycamore to have a chance.
  16. you know the old saying that if they guy your up against is bigger than you and quicker then you are in deep trouble. the question here is really not who is going to win but rather will Sycamore get embarrassed.
  17. No BEN STILLER it isn't. I assume this is not yours either. Have you seen Union City play. They beat White House by 102-76 and it could have been worse. White House is on about the same level talent wise as Sycamore maybe even a little better. Liberty Tech is about the same as Union City just a little bigger in a couple of positions. Both UC and LT are very very deep. WH and Sycamore don't have the depth to compete. Freezing the ball will be impossible with LT's press. I look for the Sycamore boys to need oxygen by the second quarter that's when the rout will really begin.
  18. this game will get UGLY eary. This game will be over by then end of the first half. Liberty Tech by at least 25.
  19. And I guess you guys can take Liberty Tech too. Why don't we just go ahead and give GC the state championship trophy siince listening to some of you suggests they are the best in AA. If you are fortunate enough to make it to the sectionals and face one of the premier West TN teams it could get ugly.
  20. Geez, do we have to go back 2 or 3 years to find a stat line like that at GC.?
  21. so you see Slater play one time on a bad leg and make a comment like that. I saw him outplay Willie Kemp last year. I saw him bury Brentwood Academy with 28 points to win the Battle of the States and was given the MVP of the tournament. I saw him totally dominate CPA in the game at DL. Yes he had some bad games but all and all the kid is a player who gutted out the last third of the season. So before you make a comment like that maybe you should see someone play more than once and with an injury to boot. After Mason/Miller and the rest of the CPA gang sent you packing tues night you'll have a greater appreciation for Slater. He got 23 pts 13 rebounds and 9 assists in a DL win against them this season when he was healthy. Let's see if anyone at GC can match that stat line.
  22. what i meant to say was they couldn't or didn't beat them decisively.
  23. CPA and Lipscomb did not split during the regular season. DL won both regular season games with Slater playing marvelously in both games. CPA won the game in the district tournament in a low scoring affair that can be attributed to Slater not being 100 %. I was not at the GC game but I am saddened to hear how the student section acted. Slater is a class kid and a joy to watch play particularly when he is healthy. After reading your message I look forward to seeing the folks from Pulaski taking an old fashioned whipping from CPA.
