  1. I was reading the different posts concerning transfers the pros and cons, I guess different situation warrant different attitudes about transferring my children all attended and still attend school here in the city..... many of their class mates from primary through middle school attended here but once it became time to go to high school alot of them change to other schools. I can assure you it was not academics that pulled them, some moved due to parents and job transfers but 9 of the 10 local transfers moved due (1) the new school atmosphere of DC(2) some moved because they thught it would be easier (I DID NOT SAY IT WAS I SAID THEY THOUGHT IT WAS EASIER) and most of them are doing no better at DC then they did here in the city (3) Some because of discipline problems and finally (4) Some because of sports, they loved a winner and DC was winning, boys basketball at DHS was down due to Coach well you know who and kids were not going to put up with him..... some of the girls who transferred knew coming into DHS would initially mean spending some time on the bench and they wanted to play.... People have choices and they try to do what is best for their child personally if I had a son or daughter that was a super star athlete or whatever he or she would go where they were suppose to go because the bottom line is most of our little high school stars of today are tomorrow's memory very few of them go into sports careers. Five years from now we will be looking back at our stars from this past basketball or football season and remember very few of their names it will be interesting to see where they are hopefully they made the right decisions but I warn you alot of bad choices made in high school can harm or shape the rest of your lives.......lets see where they are..... It is so important that we as parent try to instill into our children that you can't run from things if a situation is not right then you need to be sure you have done all that is humanly possible to correct it, what type of messages are we sending our children transferring them to a school because a certain person is a coach or they have a great athletic team.... no life is hard and it is during the high school years when we really have to develop our sons and daughter we must prepare them for what is out there... there have been many times when I have wanted to just get up and move or run away because things were rough or hard for me but I had to be a adult and be committed to something and stand up and be a man..... Base on what I know and this is NOT RUMOR ALL of the ones that transferred from Dyersburg High and these are the ones on the basketball team theystill live here in the city in the same houses they just commute. I don't think you have to live in a certain area.... once you transfer within the county, we have a open door policy here in the county so this would probably apply to the student from area communities as well as for the Flowers young man I know his mother lives in Lake County but with a open door policy you can live anywhere if you want to drive to one of the local schools it is not against the law. I just worry about the message that we are sending as parent that when sports or being on a winning team is more important then during things by the rules or the way they should be what will we say when LiL Johnny or Lil Amy decides further down the road that he or she does not like being married or can't pay their car payment etc and they just decide to walk away or bail out.... what can we as parent's say we taught them that bailing out or running away was the thing to do... /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  2. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> I am sitting here reading the posts from the DC faithful and other's that are joining in on the roasting of (ready4boro) and watching the fireworks.........I guess now you can see what I mean but in all honestly your remarks were a bit unwarranted to some degree the DC faithful are like most fans or people in general very protective of that which is close to them in this case it is their team. I cannot help but think the Trojan faithful have and will continue to be that way about our teams. I do feel DC have a few fans who are way out in left field (Just like Us and any other teams) many of them are rude obnoxious and hold a lot of bitterness and come on here to spew out their emotions. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> I just feel it is very unappropriate when we as adults come on here and belittle these young people..... no child should be exposed to that type of behavior I always try to treat people the way I want to be treated if we all just used and lived by that philosophy we would be amaze at just how much better this entire world and this board would be... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. What on earth are you thinking ...... /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> no I take that back what are you drinking? Don't you know that adsmom and her choctaw disciples are going to have you for breakfast, lunch and dinner /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> my advice just take it like a man.... and please I pray that you are not a Trojan Fan... because they are convince all of us hate them and are jealous and nothing could be further from the truth. I actually stopped coming on the board the later part of the season because it was way too much hating and putting down and we never do this or that.... there are bad people on every side the good and the bad so I would never say what a Trojan fan would or would not do and I never believed that our team were perfect people or above anyone else we are all human and make mistakes... I think I better be quiet because I get put out to dry with you... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. Look's like that unfinished business that BTW was talking about won't be getting finished anytime soon huh?
  5. Be nice this is a lady you are talking too and even though her opinion differs from your still you should respect her opinion.... be nice /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  6. "]Watching channel 7 news looks like Covington coach was upset, he felt that DC was running up the score after his team was down pretty bad and initially he would not shake hands but after discussion he did shake the DC coach and players hand. I hope that is not the case with DC but losing hurts so perhaps Covington was really thinking that after the near upset the first time that they might have a chance I guess reality kicked in and the Chargers saw things for the way they actually were. I was told there was also a incident involving MC, if any of you were there then you know who that is hope he is ok..... I warned you all yesterday Haywood, Covington, Ripley and Fayette teams and fans take their basketball to a entirely new level.... Just be careful Choctaws on Thursday and rather in victory or defeat ....... do not provoke their fans...... they are another breed then us.....not trying to scarce just want everyone to be safe......[/color]
  7. You are to cute (mass murderer) now I've been almost called everything.....
  8. I hope you are right (Trojan 1)especially as far as the Trojans are concerned... hopefully our team is focus. I thought the Trjojans might have beaten Haywood a few weeks ago when they came calling here, but that was by far one of their worse games I have seen. I think they actually played better the first time in Haywood when we were still trying to work our football players into the rotation. I like the fact that we have played them twice this season not because of the old cliche "It's hard to beat a Good team three times theory" but because we are familiar with them their crowd (Haywood"s) is a very effective 6th man. I grew up in the Haywood area and people I can assure you they take their basketball very very seriously.... the crowd really gets behind their team and that little dark hot gym..... gets to rocking and a lot of very very good team have left Haywood County wondering what happen so don't take neither team from the other district too lightly. Yes their facilities lack a lot of the luxuries those of us in this district have become accustomed...... but they love their teams just as much as us Wish I could be there (car trouble) but will be listening on the radio....and adsmom.... good luck to you guys but do not underestimate the Chargers..... I'm telling you it is tournament time and anything can happen.
  9. Look's like you miss this one huh..... one of those rare occassions /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Good luck .... just got to learn to never count us out.......
  10. If what you are saying is true, then something is rotten in Denmark...... I have not dog's in this fight but I think that is sort of stacking the odds in the hometeam's favor.....
  11. We are here ........................ /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Enjoying and laughing at all the fun........
  12. IN reference to your comment about the facilites at DHS, the current facility has only been in existence approximately 3 - 4 yrs. I feel that what we have is more then adequate enough for the fan support. The DHS vs. Dyer County game is perhaps the only sell out game either school has during the regular basketball season, I really do not think it would be economically smart to invest in anything better then what we currently especially for a one game a year sell out, we pay enough taxes as it is. I can also remember that not too long ago these games were not as enticing or supported as they have recently become, the Trojan fans always seemed to show up as they still do but not very long ago Dyer County Fans came but definitely they were not as supportive as they have been the past 2 seasons.
  13. No the Dyersburg people want what is best for Justin and the other SR players if they decide to attend college. I certainly would love to see him go as high as possible with his basketerball but his education is the number one point so let's hope that he is prepared to focus on that goal first. Many of us who have been to college know that it is a big step from high school, so sometime going to a good Jr. College can be good for a kid. Also Jackson State General's (Jackson Tn.,) have a very good up and coming mens program... and their academics are good as well.. especially if wants to do something in the medical field.
  14. I feel better already.... I initially thought that you were nice but recently I was beginning to think that you were really going south (my opinion) with some of your "anti Trojoan" comments especially the part about the orange colored glasses. I am like you in the sense that no matter how great or as much as we love those we support we do realize that somewhere down the line we ALL must be held accountable. I am just a outsider because neither school was where I attended however I have children that do ATTEND DHS and I attend church and have fed many of the DC STUDENTS AND ATHLETES because you have neighbors who live in the same neighborhood or next door and you know them to be good kids and people. I just kind take things maybe a bit too personal especially when I feel that someone or a person is being so self righteous. thank you for enlightening me and I PROMISE in the future I will take your comments with a grain of salt..... and a big glass of water /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> PS Great JOB LSU....is that two or three in a row for the SEC?
  15. It was never my intent to insult or hurt your feeling however it is hard for me to see where any individual, team, country, political party etc is always right simply because they are my team of choice. I can look at my own children and as much as I love them I am not always convince that they NEVER do anything wrong. I am again sorry if I hurt your feeling's but let's just keep it real, as for paying the $12.00 don't bother if I wanted to join I would find the means of paying my own way appreciate the offer alone with your contemptuously ironic remark concerning the fee membership. /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  16. I will just say that as far as you are concerned anyone not wearing orange could come out ahead with you. I think that is why we play the game, just enjoy the fun while it last because it will be short lived remember you heard it here first.
  17. Just so you will know perhaps the girl you saw him strutting down the sideline with Victor at the D'burg-DC football game was one of the homecoming maids... the senior players often act as escorts during homecoming and I think we played you all on Homcoming. Please don't start calling names there were bad calls for both team's many of the DC players were scratching and clawing as well ...... it is the referee's job to maintain control of the game and they totally lost control. I also would like to say this....... DC is not always the victim neither is D'burg sometime's we need to just accept responsibility. I do not believe that any player came looking for a fight they all know where each other live or hang out so if that were the case I am sure they would be able to find each other if they wanted to resolve a hostile situation. I wish you all the best of luck except when you play the Trojans, I root for you any other time but I can say this for as many times as I have seen D'burg beat you'll I have yet to see their (Our) fans act like many of your (DC Fans) have display in victor, before last year many of you were hardly in attendance at the D'burg/DC game, I will congratulate the Trojans fans because even though we knew the odds were against us on Friday we were still there in full force if the role had been reverse how many of you beloved (DC Fans) would have been there or even on this board. Things will soon return to the norm and we will see how much you really support your team. I remember in the Liberty game you all were out raged at how LIbery supposedly cheated you.... and there were some questionable calls....just so you know it is not everyone intent to cheat DC everybody loses sometimes but the important thing is to lose with a degree of class and not win belittling your opponents that is very tacky so please move on enjoy your victory congratulate one another and let all of the name calling and insults be put to rest.
  18. I was sitting one seat from the floor level between the two section Mr. Mahon's told the ref's and the gentleman in the orange shirt "We got control of our student's you need to get control of yours"....
  19. Thank you for clearing that up as Mr. Mahon and the other administrators did what they should have done, I would much rather see them come out of the stands and getting control of our student section rather then having too much youthful exuberance on the floor, and a lot of innocent people getting hurg. In reference to the chant of the game, the one that the DC student section yell after the altercation of "You don't want None" was very inappropriate...... but it was worthwhile to see the DHS section act with some degree of humility. It might be wise if the student sections were put across the court from each other, that might eliminate some of the comradarie. Oh and let's not forget the DC cheerleader who backflipped all the way down directly in front of the DHS student section for no apparent reason other then to gain attention or to incite tempers. As to rather Victor said anything to Kim or not... I would not know since there is not instant replay but the accident happened so quickly. I think that the ref lost control of the game..... and when that happens you get situations like this that happen.
  20. I think this post is in reference to the D'burg Lady Trojans, the part where Trojan 3 mention about the Christmas Tournament was in reference to a week ago when these two team battled to an almost exact score..... It truly was a great game especially it you were a D'Burg Lady Trojan fan however on the opposite side for the boys it was not so much fun /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  21. Does anyone know anything about the teams playing in this years tournament. I know in years past they have had boys and girls teams from as far away as Nashville, Memphis and Missouri. If someone get a line up of teams plesase post it.

  23. I agree with you adsmom upon seeing the headline "The Legend Return' and after reading the article it was very much appreciated in my household. My two high school students came into the house on last afternoon reading your article it seems that the entire student body is very excited that 'The Legend and Company' are returning. I have heard a old cliche that goes "some people are legends ONLY in their own minds" in spite of what anyone else feels many of us in Dyersburg see Coach Counce as a Legend.....you can put as many definitions as to what a legend is as you want my final analysis will still be to call him a Legend. I enjoy reading your articles in the paper and one of the hardest thing for anyone to do especially when they are wrong is to say I'm sorry. I remember this fall when you (Trojan1) was taking a bashing from fans because of your predictions and overlooking DC's fine team, after we were defeated by them..... the following Sunday you were quick to say how wrong you were ... you did not tuck your tail and hide you were a MAN .... and in today's world perhaps we need more people like you who are not afraid to say what they have to say and if they are right or wrong at least they have the 'Guts' to say it openly and not be afraid to say they are sorry.
  24. You were a little off on the Dyersburg and Dyer County predictions..... perhaps your old crystal ball is on the blink...LOL Westview beat the Lady Trojans by 3 on their court and I think the Lady Bulldogs hung one on the Lady Choctaws
