  1. Cane fan here. Looking forward to a good game Friday. Dont know much about OR except that they have a rich history. Who are their big playmakers/jersey numbers?
  2. You Spitt fans should start reading previous posts before you make your own. The excuses of poor field conditions, sick players, and backup QB's have already been posted too many times to count. I'm a little shocked you didn't repeat the statement about the rich private school kids being able to get flu shots. Got to hand it to you though 94P, your conspiracy theory about Boyd not wanting to play on Thursday was a new one. It is sure to be repeated for pages, and pages, to come.
  3. That certainly didn't help. Where's he playing now, anyone?
  4. The season is young, and they've just been beaten by 2 good football teams, but at a glance the season doesn't look hopeful. Most glaring is the lack of players on the team (24, I think.) Any theories?
  5. Get ready dadoffour. They will be coming shortly. I bet you get 2 pages worth of bites on that big hook you threw out there. Only 9 responses to my hook, a little dissapointing. Good luck Friday.
  6. What about the Tennessee Temple Crusaders, how are they gonna be this year?? Oh, I forgot they quit football since they couldn't win without cheating............ You really need new material TP.
  7. Grundy by a field goal. Spitt is overrated.
  8. Wow, I didn't realize TTA did something illegal in the newspaper. Please provide more details. Has the matter gone to court? Will anyone be serving time? Has TSSAA made a statement?
  9. I heard from a "reliable source" that he is in Europe on a recruiting trip. These reliable sources never have an agenda, and are always accurate. Based on this info maybe next year won't be so down for TTA after all!
  10. I didn't say that. Geez Indian, you're a pain. I was referring to the incident in the last couple years at OHS where the coach called some of his players the "n" word at halftime. I shouldn't have brought that up though. My apologies to everyone. Back to your question of whether or not Sexton could have made it to a D1 through OHS. Who knows? But, I like a players chances much better if he goes to a "b-ball school" like Temple, Red Bank, or Walker Valley where he's going to get solid coaching. If your kid's a football player, where would you rather he go to school, Copper Basin or Boyd Buchanan?
  11. I'm not sure what Sexton would have learned from his Ooltewah coaches, other than bigotry. Temple teaches kids how to be respectable people, and how to play the game of basketball correctly. So, Sexton moving to Temple his freshman year was probably a very wise decision.
  12. I have no idea who's going to play on the b-ball team next year. When I said a bunch of newcomers would be on the team next year, I did so expecting a bunch of you to get your panties in a wad, thoughtlessly accusing Temple of recruiting. You didn't let me down. Fact is, every b-ball team on the planet has newcomers each year. Only in the eyes of the beholder. And some beholders just don't matter.
  13. Indian, For someone so articulate you really say some dumb stuff. My feeling is you know better, you're just trying to force your point. Who says Temple's trying to push athletics above academics? Do you really expect to see academic achievements discussed in the sports pages? You'll have to wait and see on the new players.
  14. What a non-answer that was. The answer to the question, "What is wrong with "bordering on recruiting" is, nothing. If you are doing 55 mph in a 55 mph zone, you're bordering on speeding, but you're not doing anything illegal. That said, Coach Marcum's statements in the paper weren't "bordering on recruiting." Recruiting is the process of trying to convince specific athletes to come to your school. Had Marcum said, "Temple produces D1 players, that's why you, John Doe, need to come here", you might have a argument.
  15. DB02, Your quote "Other than the 'true' privates (McCallie, Baylor) around here, the other privates just take what does come through their door and deal with it, good or bad, or at least that's been my experience for the last 7 years at DB." is untrue. All the private schools, DB included, actively pursue new students through advertising. If they didn't they wouldn't succeed.
  16. And, what is wrong with "bordering on recruiting"?
  17. He probably could have praised Sexton a little more, and made it less of a commercial for Temple, but that's just my opinion. You can interpret his statement any way you want to, and even if you interpret it the way you did, there's nothing wrong with that. Private schools, unlike publics, aren't going to get kids enrolled by virtue of where they live. They've got to promote the school and make it sound like a better option than others, and worth the several thousand $ it takes to got there.
  18. You must think there's something wrong with that statement.
  19. Temple will win at least 15 games next year with the kids (almost all underclassmen) they have returning. A bunch of talented newcomers will be on the team next year, but they won't contribute much because it takes most kids at least a year to learn how to play championship level basketball. The season of 2010-11 is when Temple will return to dominance.
  20. A lot of people thought Temple would be finished without a Skogen, and they've been back to state each year since. TTA will win 15+ next year.
  21. Yeah, they should probably just limit their prayers to the big stuff.
  22. Bigbird, you're back! We hadn't heard from you since before the tourney. I was fearing our horrible performance in the championship game had left you totally shattered and hopeless.
  23. When would have been a better time? During the school year? And you're correct, Caleb was the head baseball coach at SD when he took the Temple job. He left SD after baseball was over, which couldn't have been a better time for SD.
