  1. CSAS was up by a few at the half, then Temple went on a 21-5 run in the 3rd. Temple held about a 10 point lead throughout the 4th. Congrats to CSAS on a good season. I'm glad TTA doesn't have to face Townsend anymore. Does anyone know if he'll be playing in college?
  2. If you're talking about the coach the varsity had this year, I wasn't that impressed. He had more talent on the floor than he could turn into wins. And, unfortunately, he's losing the best of that talent to graduation.
  3. Actually, Temple will be open next year, and they don't expect to win the district, much less the state. So, so much for that point. I was wondering if Marcum's quote caught anyone else's attention. Definite bulletin board material.
  4. Does anyone know what time the game will be?
  5. The same kind of nonsense that is the subject of this thread...telling a coach he can't pray with his team. When my kids were in elementary they were in a respectable public school. A majority of the faculty were Christians, and cared more about teaching the children the 3 r's, and less about political correctness, etc. A lot of parents aren't as fortunate with their kids' schools, and that's a shame.
  6. Last year the young Crusaders ended CSAS's state hopes in the regions. I bet Dragoo would love to get some payback from that. But he won't. CSAS managed to keep the last matchup with Temple close, but had to shoot the ball extremely well to do so (#33 made 3 or 4 "prayers" that most people wouldn't even attempt in a game of horse.) CSAS has enough athleticism to force a lot of turnovers, and if they can frustrate Temple early, it could be a good game. Temple, IMO, needs to win this game by a bunch to build a little momentum and confidence. And I think they will. Temple by 17.
  7. I agree, but normally to a far lesser degree.
  8. Lack of competition from better schools hurts everyone, except those who want to maintain the status quo. As a parent I would probaby leave a town whose only education is what our screwed up government handed me.
  9. You've got a point, but I would argue that Jesus was perfect, and would not be influenced by the unsaved. My kids are far from perfect, and need shelter from all the garbage that the public school system pushes on them.
  10. Just another reason to yank our children out of public schools as quickly as possible.
  11. I'm not sure I get your point. Do you feel like they should have gotten someone from inside HC? If so, why? I don't know Michael Stone personally, but from a distance have watched him turn Hamilton Heights tiny BB program into one that is matching up well against larger, more established programs. Congrats to Michael, and much success!
  12. I don't know why you addressed your question to big bird. He hadn't made a comment about your video guy. I'll answer it though, because I think it's for me. Grace is the district champ. Congratulations. Some of the kids that your video man was yelling at were from Silverdale, and some were from another school, I'm not sure which one. It wouldn't have necessarily bothered me if the kids had been from Temple though. The kids were just being loud and rowdy, which is what kids do. Adults, however, normally act much more respectable and mature.
  13. I thought that was a pretty bold and respectable move on Mattheiss's part to sit his 3 starters out the 1st quarter in a championship game. A lesser coach would have found another way to discipline them. As it turned out, it seemed to actually help his team. Grace won the 1st quarter 20-12, with the 3 starters out. Then, they lost the 2nd quarter, 10-15 with the starter in. And, you're right govols, I think Mattheiss probably was the better coach last night. Congrats to him and his staff.
  14. Congratulations to Grace on the victory, and a well played game. Grace shared the ball better than I've ever seen, took care of the ball, and played great defense. Temple, on the other hand, played very uninspired. Even their normally fiery coach didn't show a whole lot of emotion tonight. It appeared that Temple played the game carelessly, knowing they didn't need to win to keep their season alive, and therefore not working very hard for the victory. Too many turnovers and missed free throws. Good luck making it out of the region with that kind of play. 2 questions for Grace fans: 1. Why didn't Hermann, Church, and Wilson start the game? 2. Does your videographer/player's dad normally make a habit of having shouting matches with teenagers, or was tonight just an aberration?
  15. As a Temple fan I definitely envy the spirit that Grace fans, of all ages, display. But, I must say, I'm looking forward to seeing all of you sitting on your hands in the 4th quarter of the boys game tonight!
  16. I think Temple's fans will show up, but will still be outnumbered 3 to 1. Plus, the average Temple fan is old and quiet, and can't compete with the rowdy Grace student section.
  17. I expect Grace's 3 to 1 advantage in crowd to quickly negate any experience a couple of Temple's kids have shooting hoops at McGilvary.
  18. Grace plays on that court just as frequently (almost never) as Temple does, so I don't see Temple having any advantage.
  19. For once in my life, I think taydizzle might be right. Grace's coach Mattheiss had a suprising defensive game plan of zeroing in on Temple's Kemp and limiting him to 3 points (I think) in the last match up. I think that game plan may have thrown Temple's offense a little out of whack. It limited Sexton's ability to distribute the ball, which is what he looks to do first. If Mattheiss tries that again, which you would assume he would since it was so effective last time, I expect Sexton to step up his scoring and just put his team on his back. Also, if Temple can get Shaughnessy in foul trouble early, their path to the bucket will get freed up and they should be able to score at will. Just my opinions. If I'm wrong it's because I started this post by agreeing with taydizzle.
  20. I expect Grace to come out charged up and ready to get some revenge. If they can combine that energy with intelligence, they shouldn't have a problem with Silverdale. If Silverdale beats Grace a 2nd time in a row, there are going to be some ANGRY Grace fans.
  21. Do you all think Silverdale will need OT to beat Grace this time, or will they do it in regulation?
  22. You seemed to have changed your tone a little since post #2 on this thread! I'm looking forward to the game tonight. Archey is fun to watch. Temple better not be looking past this one.
  23. Congrats on the win DB. Something to build on!
  24. I haven't seen DB play this year, but when I saw them last year I remember expecting them to be the 3rd best team in the district this year. I'm suprised they've struggled like they have, but losing 2 good players to injury is hard to overcome. I hope they do well in the tournament.
  25. According to today's paper he, Shaughnessy, isn't in the top 10 in rebounding in the Chattanooga area. The tenth best is averaging 9.6 per game. This is baffling to me though, because he out-hustles everyone on the court. You would think a scrappy, 6'9", single A player would average 15+ rebounds/game. He may need some coaching on positioning, I don't know.
