  1. CSAS is very quick on both sides of the court and put a lot of pressure on the opponent. District 14 is a tough district to advance to state from. A lot of good teams advance from there. I am sure CSAS isn't overlooking the first round.
  2. It was an exciting game and a great reminder of how important defense is when the shots aren't falling. Congratulations A & S! I look forward to watching you guys play at the state. Bring that hardware home.
  3. Congratulations to FCS for making it to a substate game but I think the dores will be going home empty handed after a lopsided loss.
  4. I don't know much about Clay other than what I have seen in the past years. But, LV is a team that has been typically weak in the past that has really shined brightly this year in a region that is not as strong as it has been in recent season. LV is a patient, physical team. They will not shoot the lights out but they will control the ball well. They have a big man down low who is very effective and productive. All the starters are very athletic and the team seems to have a good chemistry with each other. It should be a good match up. I coudl see it being a close game going either way but I would have to give Clay a slight edge because of LV's long travel and Clay's home court advantage. Clay's gym is a tough place to play with loud fans and strong community support.
  5. I agree. Congratulations to LV for making it to the big game but I cannot see them even keeping it close. They will try to control the clock and limit CSAS' possessions but with all the outside shooting the Pats have, it shouldn't have a dramatic effect on the outcome. I don't remember LV ever making it this far. Conratulations to them and maybe they can pull off an on the road substate game and see their season extended just a little farther. We would love to see CSAS bring home some gold hardware from the Murphy Center.
  6. I had noticed that all the first round/quarter final games listed on the region bracket at www.jim314.com started at the same time, while the semi-finals games were listed at different times.
  7. Is the first round of the region tournament played at the home of the higher seed team?
  8. Silverdale looked good last night against Zion Christian. They went into the fourth quarter down 27-7. All game long it seemed that the breaks were going the other way and then the wind changed direction. The momentum all seemed to change when the QB finally connected on a TD pass making it 27-13. Shay Prescott caught a 2 point conversion pass. I cannot remember the order of things but it seemed that after the ensueing kick, SBA's defense stuffed #44 two times in a row and then Shay Prescott sacked the quarterback and forced a fumble. Somewhere in there the Seahawks created a safety. Silverdale made it a close game just a few minutes into the fourth quarter. Zion seemed to have a few more playmakers but SBA stuck to their guns, maintained composure, and took advantage of the late opportunities when they presented themselves. Zion seemed to be out of gas into the fourth quarter. By the way, SBA's #3 was a stud.
  9. Indian, the argument has not changed. Private schools exist because kids transfer from other schools at all ages, not just high school. My statement about transfers was focused on the non-high school grades... I was not aware of a lot of transfers in public schools because of zoning issues.
  10. Not totally shattered... I admit it was hard to see us play such good defense against Manassas and lose the game because we could not hit the broad side of a barn.
  11. Let's not forget in all this discussion that ALL private schools depend on transfers to even exist as a school much less staff athletic teams. It makes no sense to get all red faced because someone transferred.
  12. I may be mistaken but the Mr. Basketball is determined before the tournament even starts. It is lucky for Buckner that class and character are not part of the qualifications...
  13. The announcement said he was disqualified from the game. Nothing was said about an ejection. Apparently there is a difference between the two. Temple did not go man to man. When Reginald was taken out of the game Manassas spread the floor and started running the clock down. Not to mention spitting on one of our players...
  14. My contention is the statement that Temple would only be a .500 team in other districts. When you look at region 7 & 8, most of the teams are way below .500 and never have a chance at going to the tourney. There are not 40 teams fighting each other every year to make it. There are only two or three from each region, just like ours. On the discussion about the Skogens, do not forget that Temple was strong before they came. When they won the silver in 1998 it was a 42-44 loss in 2OT, probably one of the best teams Temple has had. There is no dispute that having a boat load of Skogens was beneficial to Temple.
