  1. I think SC will end up being good, especially under Coach Jackson, but I'm not sure they're there yet. The first game against DL was a fluke. SC won 53-49 and DL was 3 for 14 from the free throw line in the second half alone. Not to mention a couple of DL starters on the bench for nearly the whole first half and most of second with foul trouble. The second game against DL, SC lost 68 - 49 on their home court. Again, I think they will be good down the road, just not yet. Just my 2 cents worth.
  2. Yes, Evan Webb did win the Defensive MVP award. Something like 14 tackles, 2 for losses, an interception, and, I think, one fumble recovery. You are correct, it was well deserved. The whole DL defense stepped up big. Not that the offense didn't either. It's interesting to note that there were several underclassmen on the field most of the day for both teams. Webb is a junior along with Saggio (LB), Daniel (NT), Rogers (DB) and Lehning (CB), plus Hudson (DE) played quite a bit, all on the defensive side of things. On offense, Simpson (QB), Rogers (WR), Lehning (SE), Hudson ©, Quinn (G) and Webb (TE) are all jrs. This could be a fun rivalry for a few more years to come.
  3. Look, Prospect, which I assume is short for "Prospecting for Brains" because you sure don't seem to exhibit any, you're the one who brought up the fact that, apparently, the Lipscomb coaches can't coach. I realize that your logic isn't much to follow, and not even you are following it, but coaching is coaching. 3A or any other "A" has nothing to do with it. I'm not sure where you live, but apparently it's in a vacuum. Here's a suggestion, before you post another illogical, nonsensical post where you change the rules mid-stream, why don't you just lay out all of the ground rules (i.e. can't talk about anything other than anything that might make Fulton look better or you look smarter - the last of which will be a stretch), that way maybe at least some of the people who know you can follow you. Oh, and while your at it, why don't you broaden your horizons a bit and look at some other classes of football. Why, I hear even Alcoa and Maryville have decent non-3A teams. But wait, that was on this thread. How in the world could that have happened? By PforB's standards, this is a 3A only thread! I sure hope someone else is driving you to M'boro, the way you change directions midstream, you'll never get there.
  4. Oh, that's right. Playing in a 1A, 2A, 4A or 5A championship game has no comparison whatsoever to a 3A game. So whatever happened in the two championship games that DL won in 2A could in no way, shape, form or fashion, indicate that the coaches might know a thing or two about the game. Since it wasn't 3A, after all. Man, I sure hope Fulton never changes classifications - who knows, their coaches might turn out to be slobbering idiots! I mean, since there's obviously no comparison to 3A. Makes perfect sense....
  5. Even though Lipscomb has Chuck Ross, it has another "special" fan as well. He simply goes by "Bayron." He spends hours upon hours at the football stadium, even out of season, spends even more time on line on sports forums, runs up and down the sidelines on Friday nights like Ron Cey after a 12 pack of Red Bull and lies awake at night thinking up trivia questions that include his 3 football playing boys in the answers. He even cheers for a mythical Lipscomb University football team that doesn't even exist. He is truly our special fan! Couldn't resist. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. "They lost alot of linemen off last years team and do not have a large group of linemen in their jr and soph classes. Give Cannon, Hunt, Lehmer and their senior linemen credit for playing tough and showing great leadership." Cannon, Hunt and Lehmer are doing a great job as seniors, but the anchor of the O-line is junior center Hudson. He's a stud blocker, doesn't make mistakes and could (and does occasionally) start on defense if they needed him to. And, no, he's not my son. DL has some young beef coming up on the line. But, huge or not, Coach Mac and his staff stress technique so that they continue to reload the line year after year.
  7. Here's a tip on parking - directly across the street from the church (east side of Granny White Pike) is a 100+ car parking lot. The church is happy for folks to use it and it is less than a 100 yd. walk from there to the gym. The parking spaces are ample and you don't have to worry about getting towed for parking in a fire lane or on a side street where there ARE no parking signs. Not only are the university students on campus, but there are several big events on Thursday and Friday nights, so the church lot is your best bet.
