Great article. I have a brother in New Jersey who retired last year after many years of coaching girls basketball. It was for the exact reasons listed in this piece. Also, he has children that are students at the high school where he coached. They were not players, but they had to hear people talking in terrible ways about there DAD. I wonder how they are effected by all this. It is a shame that people only care about there own children. Coaches have to consider what is best for the whole team.

I was at the game and Bradshaw was awesome.I noticed that he was scoring at will, but I did not realize it was 52. Bradshaw is a complete player. The most incredible thing about the 52 is that he did not take a bad shot and he kept his teamates involved. He had several assists and some blocks.

JOEY STECKER Creek Wood High senior. Thru 1st 4 games he was 6 for 6 including 2 from 47 1 from 43 and 1 from 41. Against Harpeth he missed two 37 yarders wide left, but plenty of leg. He had a chance to hit a game winner from 47 in the same game, but the snap was not clean and his stride was off a little, the kick hit the crossbar and was no good. Now 6 for 9 on the year after the 0 for 3 game. He is a soccer player and only started kicking field goals his sophomore year. I believe he will be a kicker at the next level.

Will is legit. I have watched him for a long time. Big strong kid with all the tools. His father is very influential in his life in a positive way.Would also include Cody Shelton Brentwood High pitcher.

Giles Co. at Creek Wood monday may 17 at 7 P.M.

Creek Wood went 3 months without losing a game and with 3 minutes left it was a 1 posession game and Creek Wood had the ball. We really believed that we would advance. Bottom line Marshall County made the plays down the stretch and Creek Wood did not. My personal take on Kedron is that he is the real deal. Especially when you consider he is a Junior. Creek Wood has class fans, players and coaches. I just believe it is hard when you get beat and the season is over. Good luck to MC.

I know tonight is tough, but when you can reflect on the whole year, you will find that you have a lot to be proud of. I am proud to be a fan. I will miss all of the seniors and I know that every one played there hardest. You never want to lose, but tonight does not take away from everything you have accomplished this year. I believe this game could very well bcome an instant classic. Creek Wood will not play like they did in the district tournament. The district tournament was playing the same teams over that you had already beaten convincingly during the regular season. That was definitely not CW best games. CW scored 36 points in the third quarter alone against GC.That is not bad for a team that is known for its defense. I have the utmost respect for Marshall County, they are very good. CW has worked very hard to get where they are. There schedule was not tough, but it is hard to win 22 games in a row. I believe this game may be the most important in the schools short history, did make it to substate 2 years ago, but that team was happy to get to that point. I believe these guys have bigger goals. Look buddy everyone has their own opinion! Papatiger is prolly one of the best waverly fans we have, we as in the waverly people are lucky to have ricky! Dude u need to step off and quit critizing ppl. O and here the true issue. Creek Wood has 900 students or something like that, wavo has 615, like the rest of the district, put creek wood in a bigger school district6 and lets see what happens! I agree about Central being the team to beat next year. They have the most experienced players returning, and the post season success they are having should make them stronger next year. Creek Wood will probably be better tha most people think because they do have some good players that dont get much playing time but like ruger said they practice every day against Dotson and Hyndman. However I dont think Clements could score 20 in a game of 36 against anyone.

Creek Wood post players have gotten in foul trouble the last couple games. It appears that they are getting some questionable calls against them, while smaller people are being allowed to hold and push on them without fouls being called. I am proud of the bigs for keeping there composure and for CW for finding other ways to win. Harpeth has definitely gotten better against us each time we have played them. If the refs are letting you be physical that is what you should do. As I have said before we have some very good coaches in this district and it is hard to beat a team that you are familiar with 3 times. Each time CW has played Harpeth the game has gotten tighter. The other night was not decided until late. The Creek Wood gaurds have been a question mark in most peoples oppinnion, but they have stepped up when they need to. Coty Crow had a great game against Harpeth when no one else was scoring and Xavier Darden,who was out the first part of the seaon, is getting better every game. Tuesday night is about seeding for the region and the teams from the other district are tough, especially Spring Hill and Marshall County. They are both young. SH is mainly Sohpmores and MC is mainly juniors.

IMHO I think that a good coach can adjust his game plan to the personel that he has. Montgomery Central spreads the floor and uses the clock because Trevor Moore is one of there weapons. I dont think anyone in the district can dribble in pressure the way he does. There have been some times this year that MC has pulled the ball out with a lead and it has cost them. I think that Creek Woods success this year is because of the way they play defense. The games they struggle to score, they can still make things happen because of there defense. I think when a team is one dimensional that is when they are in trouble. I have heard crowds boo a coach for pulling the ball out on offense, but the defense stays back in a zone and allows it to happen. It is all strategy and your strategy depends on your personel. I have always taken it as a compliment if a team tried to slow it down because that usually means they dont have the ahtletes to compete at a fast pace. Sometimes the athletes dont have the discipline to play a slower tempo. It is all fun for me to watch because the best team does not always win or they would not need to play the game. But all kidding aside I respect papas oppinion.

Papa sorry you have a problem with your memory. Maybe you can get some meds. Most all scores in the tourney are below teams average. because the games mean more than a regular season game. The game was decided on the court, how you do not see that is beyond comprehension. I am sure you watched the game, but maybe you forgot. Good luck against Harpeth should be a good game.

Congrats to Montgomery Central on there win over Waverly. Great game plan and execution. I thought Waverly made a good run and had a chance to get back in it. hale made some good plays toward the end. Every time Waverly loses papatiger has something bad to say about the other team and if it is Creek Wood he has something bad to say about them even when they win.Sometimes you just get beat. I realize not all Waverly fans are like Papatiger, But for someone who has seen as much ball as he says he has, he has not said anything that I have read that would lead me to believe that he knows anything about the game. Until there is a shot clock in high school a coach would be foolish not to play a game in the way that gives his team the best opportunity to win. The game was decided onthe court and Central won. Maybe if they do like the NBA and allow 6 fouls Vogel would not have fouled out. Maybe if everything was on T.V. you would not need radio announcers.

I witnessed a great ball game tonight at Harpeth. Camden led most of the game and I felt like they were in control and would win by double digits. Harpeth started to make a run and # 11 for Camden fouled out. Camden held on to there lead most of the game. Harpeth did have a 1 point lead when Crowe was called for a block foul that could have been a charge and Herndon hit 2 free throws for Camden to give them a 1 point lead with 6.6 seconds. Dansby takes the ball the length of the court for Harpeth and dished to Crow in the corner Crow nailed a 3 and Harpeth wins by 2. Congrats To Harpeth for never giving up and doing everything they had to do to pull out the victory. Herndon played a great game for Camden and is a class act. Crow could not miss tonight.

It very well could go the way you are predicting Papatiger. I also predicted Camden to get the 2 seed a while back and they dropped all the way to #5. I think any game with 2-6 seeds are good matchups. I also think Creek Wood had better come ready to play every night because it is hard to beat a team that you are familiar with 3 times in a season. Is the first game of Region at the higher seed or is the whole tournament at East Hickman?
