It's missed both ways. Out jumping another and not making contact is not over the back. A good fundamental player will make it obvious that another player is making contact. Wish there were more refs like a couple that have posted that they do it for the love of the game and for the kids. If this were the case we wouldn't have this thread.

Come on quit blaming everything on the officials. The officials were terrible in the GP-Union game. Notice I didn't say one sided I said terrrible. The problem there was the fact that the asssigning official sent 1 experienced ref and 2 young inexperienced refs to officiate a district game. Like I said officiating was bad but certainly consistently bad on both ends of the court. GP missed enough free throws and layups to win. Fine example of the great officiating was Union using the old Bobby Knight play or Ernie & Bernie play (take your pick). The one good ref calls a foul. Who is supposed get the number of the shooter since each teams in the bonus? Could it be the other refs? Union sends #3 to the line instead of #23. Dead give away. Sub is waiting to enter the game for #23 tells ref he's for shooter. Coach from GP questions shooter. Young refs say no the correct player is shooting. Sub this enters game for #23. Still, could GP of won the game. Check free throw percentage. Bottom line is some teams in the district are playing better than they were early and some obviously are not playing as well.

Might want to check your own spelling before correcting someone else. Example: past should have been pass. Spell check doesn't always catch spelling errors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What does it matter on a forum like this anyway?

No thinking. CG is in control of the district. GP is in 2nd with 2 district losses. Will take a lot of work for anyone to catch them before tourneys. And yes GP has alot of wrinkles to iron out between now and then. Getting a little late in the season for leadership problems.

Yes you are correct about the 2 refs. 1 is in his first year of calling varsity ball (I believe 2 yr total). The 2nd Ref should have been in his last year about 15 years ago. But as opposed to the PF fan I don't blame losses on refs. I think it came down to what Rutledge did and GP didn't do? Not sure why GP changed strategies this time. They obviously gave McBee a lot of attention this time and let the other 4 players hurt them. It would be interesting though to know how many points Rutledge scored from the free throw line (don't take me wrong, Rutledge still had to make them) and how many GP scored. And out of curiosity I wonder how many out there have seen a team press the whole second half and the other team never get to the bonus? Congrats Rutledge, maybe we will see you again in the district tourney.

Basketball's a team sport not an individual sport. We've done quite well here at GP as far as scholarship money ($3,000,000+ in 2007). According to what Alcoa turned in to TSSAA, enrollment in '04 was 411 then '06 increased to 473. Now in '07 it is 386. That's an increase of about 6 students in 27 years if my math is correct. (Since I'm a loser I'm not real good at math.) See why one might question? Now care to address the other issues? Alcoa has an excellent football tradition. Why would anyone from Alcoa have to stoop to downing other programs (example:everyone else in 2A we've faced but CAK really is only a good 1A team or we beat GP 59-36 but here are the excuses we only scored 59 and they scored 36...........). Alcoa's good, real good. Leave it there and don't down other programs and young men. That is why people dislike Alcoa not that there are jealous. If you still don't understand look at Maryville's program. Highly respected but they don't resort to downing everyone else.

That doesn't mean he played. Several of those I know by first hand knowledge redshirted. But they are still listed on the roster but never dressed. Is Shiverdecker in school? Some on here saying DCA probably #3 in Alcoas district. One even said Rockwood finishes ahead. You lost to DCA. With this logic if all of you were in same district, you don't make the playoffs. BTW, TDwhatever your wasting your time arguing the R word. Is there something wrong with a kid trying to better himself? You should be ashamed of even thinking that one that is less fortunate should be denied the opportunity offered by such a great academic school as Alcoa. There is nothing wrong with recruiting great students to come to a great academic school where D1 talent year in and year out fails to meet NCAA minimum standards.
