  1. Edit for FutureCOY, wasn't intended to get you or anyone else upset, just stating an opionion such as everyone does. Golden33 - agree with you 100% last night he put the best 5 on the floor.
  2. Hats off to a great Clay County team. Hope we get to see VB and Clay again.
  3. I was at the JC vs VB game. The VB girls looked extremely out of shape and lazy play. Not the desire to win loose balls or win period. JC dominated a very weak display of basketball by VB. I was disappointed. I did see the shove that Bouldin gave to Allen, I think frustration on her part being shut down. When they meet again it will be the same outcome. After looking at the schedules of both teams I am going to say that VB will have the better record when they meet again because VB has an extremely weak strength of schedule. Bouldin can't carry all the weight this year. At this point I don't see another threat on the floor for VB. Best of luck to both teams this season. -+
  4. Trying to catch up to speed - thought they had a new coach last year? Did she not work out?
  5. Mills should have been Region Tournament MVP
  6. Was at this game, somehow knew it was would be a wasted trip. I was looking forward to seeing the Miss Basketball finalist play, she is a player but it is too bad for her she is all they have. They play in a weak weak weak district and the region isn't much better. I will say she is a good player, but one player can only carry a team so far. Sorry she wasn't up to par but even if she was it wouldn't have mattered. Very impressive night for Pickett, their coach definitely had his girls ready to play. You could tell from the beginning which team deserved to be in that sub state game and headed to state. Their defense was spot on and that confidence flowed into their offense. If VB was in their district they would have finished third or fourth at best. That says it all! Best of luck to PC if they put it all on the floor they will have a shot at winning state!! Can't wait to see how it finishes for them.
  7. Does anyone know when the announcement will be made for AA and A Miss Basketball?
  8. Kassidy Allen has to be on the list for single A. It will be a shame if she isn't. I think she wins it as well. I think Bouldin and Hackert are worthy also. My push for Allen has to be more than the numbers game. You have to weigh the district she is playing in as well. I truly believe if Bouldin where in the same district playing the same quality teams night in night out her stats wouldn't be as padded as they are. It helps when you are playing in the weakest district in all of single A ball to achieve great stats. I am not taking anything away from her, she is a very good athlete and will get some strong strong looks and play at a reputable college no doubt. But at the end of the day I have seen both Bouldin and Allen play and my vote hands down is Allen. With that being said Bouldin is a strong contender and wish nothing but great success for her future. When taking it all into consideration though these are strong points that have to be thought about.
  9. She is a special player, I have seen her once against JC this year and once last year. She is a standout. Van Buren is lucky to have her. It seems as though they are having a good year but would be nothing without her, she carries that team and remember they are in the weakest district in Single A ball. When it counts she can't carry that team to state no supporting cast. Congratulations on 2,000 to her what an accomplishment. Can't wait to see how she ends her career and where she goes to play at the next level. Hope she stays healthy.
  10. Do you feel it is right to coach your own daughter at the high school level? I am torn as I have been offered a position where my daughter will be playing in a few years (she is middle school now). I have a lot of mixed emotions and wonder if it works or if there are issues?
  11. Ready to see what JC would bring to the court and didn't disappoint. VB was never in the game. Coach Brown had his team prepped and ready to play. I was looking forward to a nail-bitter, it was a sleeper instead. I don't think VB lost but one senior last year and it wasn't a player that went on to play at the next level. With that being said VB should have put up a better fight. The Bouldin girl is tough but beyond her they aren't strong and no depth. They are in a weak district so they will shine but they won't go past region (if they are lucky). JC dominated both ends of the court. VB has a lot room for improvement to compete with CR or JC again. No passion from anyone not even the coach for VB with the exception of one player- I feel for her she can't carry the team.
  12. Reading all this makes me even more sure that the school, superintendant and board will make the right decsions. I think it is obvious what all want. Anyone in VB county and has been around the sporting program knows that they can make happen whatever they want to. I really have enjoyed the many many years of following the boys and girls basketball programs. I think the only mistakes that have been made in the past is letting the good coaches get away. I think that since this has happened before it won't happen again. Does anyone know when they will officially announce the changes that are going to happen? I know that would help take care of this message board. I am sure from what I have read on this board posted by Eagle bro is that if Coach B gets the principal job he will not be coaching. So the big question now is if all the changes are going to be made. That is the big question mark in this. Does anyone know when the next school board meeting is? Again I am a mountain native and was around the last time the girls made it this far, it is just too far and between that it happens. With the talent we have coming there is not any reason we cannot repeat this next year.
  13. From what I understand from this then if Coach B were to leave that all Coach Russell would have to do is sub, drive bus, cook ect, then she could coach. That is great. I am sure she could do any if wanted. I am sure that she could have any team she wanted and VB is lucky to have her. I hope they keep her on. Being a head coach is the next step.
  14. The more thought I put into this and the more I read I am sure that it won't matter what the community wants to happen or what the players want to happen, rest assured they will do what they want to do and more than likely it won't be the decision that most of us would think they should do. Bottom line if they want something to happen they can make it happen, it has been done before and will continue to be done. From what I understand Coach Russell isn't even from the mountain so she probably has no intention of being with this program forever. It is sad that they aren't going to ask her back though.
  15. I agree that Coach Binkley is not to be left out of the success of this program. I think he did a great job of coaching this year with all the cards that he was dealt. I am still curious as the rumor of his friend being hired. That bothers me a bit, but again, it is the rumor mill. FACTS.......I am sure that the school is aware that she can be hired as an assistant. Know if they have the funding is a different story or if they even want to hire her. We all know you can make anythign happen you want to. She is good I would get her on in whatever capacity they can and she is willing too. Her having to be a certrified teacher is a myth. Here is what I have to support this (I only know this because I have a relative (head coach - non-faculty) that does it in another TN school system). Look at the TSSAA Handbook (this can be done on their web site)....page 30: Coaches Rule 10: page 30 regarding NON-FACULTY coaches, page 35 there is a whole section on it. The only stipulation I see is she has to be willing to be an assistant for 5 years (now one under her belt), and take the TSSAA courses. If she is willing to do that. I would say that they need to get her hired as an assistant so she can get that credit. Of course if she is wanting to do this. But we all know that it is possible. I believe we have some assistant coaches in other sports at our school that are non-faculty. Maybe this will help clarify this topic. Thanks again to Coach Binkley, Coach Russell and the girls mostly that worked so hard to make this season a success. What the girls did and how they responded is really the key to the whole thing. Not necessarily what any coach did. They were just there to lead and encourage.
