  1. They will have to contain Miller and make sure he is on the ground. He can hurt you. Davion is a little slippery too. It will be a task.
  2. What are thoughts after watching scrimmage against Walker Valley?
  3. As you can see, with Alcoa, Rhea, and some of the others, the Chargers were willing to play good teams.
  4. Thank you for the kind words about the ol' Pineknot. He enjoyed his career at UTC and made some great memories. He was not a fan of the new regime that came in, but he percivered. Wish UTC would have hired Rusty sooner. As to this group, they are blessed with some athletes this year. They have a stud reciever that is that LB you talked about cousin. He has put on about 20 lbs of muscle and could play QB as well. With the region a little down this year, this group could make a descent little run.
  5. It is good to hear. I know they have some playmakers, so I am hoping they can put it all together.
  6. It is so hard to tell until we see a spring scrimmage. Will the baseball boys be out for that? I do not think they will be as talented as the 2014 team, but this is the best team since then overall. I can get on board with that preditction. When will there be a spring game, or have I already missed out?
  7. I just feel sorry for those 2 star type of kids. To me its just going to be a never ending carasel until the NCAA cleans this up.
  8. I am good with the portal, I just think there needs to be more rules. Someone proposed just letting each school have 5 players frome the portal per year, then atlhletes could only use the portal one time. This would eliminate a player having to much power over being coachable.
  9. Nice proposal, and limit the number of times a student athlete can transfer. I am good with only once. Sometimes you just make the wrong decision and just do not fit.
  10. I am good with the portal, I just feel they should have thought about some guidlines before implimenting the process. For example, if an athlete plays a certain amount of minutes, this should disqualify them from the portal for the next season.
  11. I know a couple of athletes that normally would have found a home a this time that have not been picked up yet. I figure it is because they are seeing who is on the market from other schools.
  12. Seen the other day some coaches getting frustrated thinking their high school recruits are finding it harder to find colleges for their players. What are your thoughts?
  13. Seen the other day that their were some coaches feeling that the new transfer portal was making it more difficult for highschool recruits being recruited? What are your thoughts?
  14. Central loses a lot of players, with 6 seniors out. Masingale will lead the Chargerettes with some good supporting class. Gaurd play will be excellent, but they will need to replace that inside presents, and imo that will happen in a couple of years, as their are some younger ones that can feel that role in time with experience, which they did not get at all last year.
  15. Alcoa will be a contender. They return pretty much everyone. One of their best players injured her knee and did not play most of the year.
  16. I have no stake in this game besides the fact that we were put out by Alcoa in the sub-state. We beat Alcoa two times this year, once by 18 the other by 9. They only made 1 three pointer last game and still come out on top. If we could have held them to 1 three, we win by 18 again. My point is this, if they are hitting the three, the big girls inside make up the difference on the boards. Westview looks to be lenghty which will cause some trouble for Alcoa. We turned them over a bunch, but for some reason took our press off the 4th qtr. I honestly think will be a good game, but Westview seems to be the favorite, just because of the matchup. I wouldn't be suprised though if Alcoa has a chance in the end to sneak this game.
  17. Watching Westview, yes, this should be a good game. IMO, Westview looks really good to me. Maybe the favorite to win it all. Guess my point was just that GP and Alcoa were not getting a lot of love.
  18. This was my point, I think the east is better than some were giving credit. Looking forward to watching how this plays out.
  19. I said if Alcoa was hitting 3’s, they had a shot. If they played and hit like they did against McMinn Central, this could have been a blowout. Not to mention to layups they live off of they missed.
  20. If Alcoa is hitting that 3, they are tough
  21. You hit the nail on the head. That was the difference, along with a few other things. Congradulations to Alcoa, a very deserving team. It will be interesting to see how the east fairs.
  22. I understand, but if this continues, then teams like Gibson and Loretto will be sitting at the house while someone that has easier route goes to state and gets waxed by 20+. It just waters down the experience for me. We are in the same boat over here in the east. McMinn Central, Gatlinburg Pittman, and Alcoa. McMinn Central and Alcoa play each other, but would end up beating pretty much any 2-A team in the east.
  23. I think they should divide the state after 1st round of the region into east and west. That leaves 16 in east and west. Have a committee, make TSSAA earn their keep, and do the bracket just like college. For example, Loretto and Summertown may be #1 seed in West and Summertown #2, this would be from strength of schedule, wins and lossess from the strength of schedule, district championship. All games are hosted by higher seed to reward a good season. When both brackets get to final four, that is when you send teams to the state tournament, then re-evealuate or flip bracket.
