I'll Amen Jacketfan by saying they are crazy up there. What coach in his right mind would want to put up with the situation JD has had to deal with the last 3 seasons? You have been deep in tournaments each of the past two years and are still unhappy! Wartburg is not a place where you can expect 20 wins every year or state trips. You should feel very good about being in the top 4 teams in Region 2A. I continue to be shocked by the ignorance of many in bulldogland! Does anyone know what Dallas's record as coach was over his 30 years we were talking about coach snow having 400 wins and wondered how many he had?

Was this not supposed to be a "Dream Team" at Coalfield? What has happened to them? They have had a horrible tournament. The last time I saw them play was the last oakdale game and I can tell you the girls didn't play very hard at all. I'm not sure jacketfan that they learned anything. The team should have been in the District and Region Finals this year and now are at home. I will agree that Greenback is a very hard place to play with the officials who always seem to lean toward the home team, but that is the point of working to host in the first round.

I stand corrected on my comments! Oakdale played hard and well but Wartburg just dominated the game with their half court defense. I was listening to the interviews on the radio driving down to harriman to get something to eat following the game and was impressed with the pride the Wartburg team took in playing "Wartburg" basketball. They all mentioned that so I believe Oakdale ran in to a team that was really coached up and they believed for four quarters. I don't believe our girls were hounded on d like that all season. Korin has been a great player and we are all proud of her and Fancy! Good Luck to Wartburg moving forward! I also have to say that the freels girl changed the game in the first half she blocked a ton of shots. How many of the Wartburg girls graduate I know Armes, Freels, Chapman, and Fountain but who else?

I hope I don't jinks us but Oakdale is playing very well right now! Pease is playing better than anyone I've seen this year. O.S. is not playing at a very high level I feel like Coalfield has a great chance to beat them! How has oneida been playing so far. I know they lost to Coalfield but are they getting better or what?

Wartubrg will probably fare a little better than Oakdale did. I will agree with you though Wartburg is not very good until they've played a couple of games. It seems like that's been the case out there since I can remember. It should be good for their younger players to be in that gym and face that kind of opponent. C'Range by 25 or so J.C. and O.S. will be a good game because O.S. is used to being in big games. They have the ability to play with anyone and have experience to boot with Hall, Christopher and Co. O.S. by 9 at their place. K.C. will have 30+ points against the J.C. Man defense.

I thought that Oakdale's young kids looked pretty good. This team could be tough a little later in the season.

FlyingHigh, I guess you don't like the program at Oakdale either with Fred and Heath. You need to grow up this domination of conversation surrounding Wartburg and their coach is getting tired. Jason is a fine coach and has proven himself at every level from middle school to high school. This year the Wartburg team will be rebuilding and if they make it to the regional tourney that would be a good year in my opinion. As for sunbright, I don't think they will be beating Wartburg in years to come. They will be lucky to finish ahead of anyone. I also think your talk about Daddy is pretty petty and small of you as a person. I have been openly critical of the Wartburg team in the past but come on this topic is now going on 3 years old! Move on!

Well this as many other things associated with coach ti is something that got me thinking. So I went to the state's website on education and wanted to see what Mike Davis has done in his time as director. Some things I found interesting are. 1. We had a couple of schools that were on target and at risk of having the state take over when he took over, now we have none. 2. Every major academic stat went up except for math. 3. Graduation rates went up 4. He hired a new principal at every school except Central High 5. However you cut it he hired the person that took the CHS girls to state and the school's first ever regional champ in basketball 6. All facilities in the county were upgraded. I would say that our county could do much worse than Mike for the next 4 years. Also I would like to thank him for his efforts to try and help our Oakdale Football program. His office was always helpful to us. I didn't care for him or his boy when all this began. I now think that we as a county could see some big time issues when he is gone. I don't know why some hate him so badly could be that he did what was right and all too often that means it isn't popular.

Is there any truth to the rumors that one or more girls have all ready or will possibly transfer to Wartburg? I heard that at least one has moved to Wartburg.

I hate to break it to everyone but there isn't a good football team in Morgan County! The only time we can compete is when we bring in players from the outside..example the Coalfield/Clinton connection. It is a sad time for Morgan Co. Football. The teams all look like J.V. Squads.

With the season just around the corner, how does everyone think the district will finish this season? Here's my take 1. Oliver Springs (I think this will be one of their better seasons, look for KC to lead like never before give Coach C. her 4th 4-A Championship and KC MVP) (25 plus wins) 2. Wartburg - (It's gonna be close between them and Coalfield for 2nd, could even see Oneida get in the mix.) Replacing what was lost last season won't be easy, but with Armes, Freels, and Fountain they should be solid! Pair that with zero coaching controversy and this team should make it to the region for the 3rd straight season. (18-20 wins) 3. Coalfield - (It will all come down to chemistry, If Coach Hines can get her girls to produce they could be the darlings of 4-A by season's end) (20 wins) 4. Oneida - Young, Talented, and Hungry. Oneida was on top of 4-A prior to O.S. entering. Since then they haven't won a Dist or Region Title. Look for Oneida to be hungry to beat O.S. before KC graduates. I don't think they will this season but you can't ever count them out come tourney time. (15-18 Wins) 5. Oakdale - They will finish above Sunbright because they have a coach! This team is replacing possibly the most graduating talent next to Wartburg and they will need to bring some young uns up quickly. Give Snow some time and they will be there, but it may be 2009 before they challenge for one of the top 3 spots. (12 Wins) 6. Sunbright - I wouldn't keep a daughter of mine at Sunbright. 1 week before season and they are still without a coach. Bad situation! I feel like the team has some talent but with all this turmoil it will be hard for them to pan out. However, I am pulling for these kids due to all they have gone through. (8 Wins)

I think what Harrison is trying to do at Sunbright is admirable, even if it is misguided. I had heard that the tapes that he had submitted were finding themselves in other teams hands. Now, I doubt that was true but I could see how a coach could get defensive if he truly believed those rumours. I like the guy! He is definately not afraid to challenge the establishment. That's why many dislike him. If the sunbright community will give him time and understand that what Newberry had was great talent this team could win 4-5 games this year which would be very good. Maybe King B will name him coach of the year!

Fact is this is what a coalfield team looks like without kids from Oakdale and Clinton running the ball for them. They didn't have the best recruiting class this year and it shows. I mean all of it. I'm a fan and I went all over this summer watching boys and girls high school camps and one thing was common among every camp I saw and that was horrible officiating and poor play. There are times that it couldn't possibly help prepare kids for a regular season. How many reg season games allow kids to pick up 5, 6, or 7 personal fouls?

From what I've seen players should save their money. Talked to a few from Coalfield and Wartburg yesterday and both said that Tech was way too physical and for 130.00 a player could get a better experience closer to home. I doubt either team will go back next year. Why is summer ball so horrible? It looks to me that it doesn't help players get ready for the regular season because they get away with too many bad habits.

I just think the run until someone passes out approach to discipline has seen it's day and now it's over. You can have the respect of your players by being a leader and that is something that neither of your coaches has proven at the high school level to this point. I do feel like they could turn it around but it needs to happen next year. I hope for the Kingston kids sake things turn around. This year looks to be Wartburg's district again. They return the most, have the most stable coaching staff, and appear to play the best ball at tournament time. Here goes, 1. Wartburg 2. Oneida 3. O.S. 4. Sunbright 5. Oakdale 6. Coalfield

Just an observation, I think that letting the team vote on a player returning or not is a cowards way to make a decision. A coach should be the first and final word on all decisions like that. Who is running the team down there? The players or the coach.
