  1. Oh Glock, you have rattled their cages! Exactly right big, bad fish in a tiny, tiny pond, playing on a Thursday night, when no one is watching but the mommy and daddy fish. Omg, they are going to reject TSSAA and play other junior, junior colleges that will give them the respect they deserve. Leave the TSSAA, and become even less relevant than you all ready are! All of Tennessee will be anxiously awaiting the results of an eleven team play-off. Is it Ensworth or MBA or Brentwood Academy, or (getting sleepy).
  2. Drake's improvement is great news. We will continue to remember in in our prayers. Please keep us informed.
  3. Again I must ask, what are you so afraid of, Owl? Don't answer please. I don't think you will have time anyway. You are about to have your hands full with Alcoa. Now that's a football team or are you going to argue that point as well? Bye now.
  4. I don't know. It seemed as if you were defending JJ's silly comment a few times. I will leave you alone now. You are about to have your hands full with Aloca. Good luck.
  5. The debate was over whether the comments from john jacob were offensive or not and if they were in any way racially motivated. You engaged and lost the debate when you fell back on the old argument that the boards are not the place for this kind of discussion after you had carpal tunnel from typing lengthy rebuttals to the argument. Don't be so afraid of honest discourse, anywhere,or aren't you a first amendment kind of guy> At this point, OJ represented himself much better in the debate than you did, but please keep trying and perhaps you would like to attend a lecture or go to the library for some research on diversity and freedom of speech. OJ's comments were interesting, insightful, and intelligent. What are you so afraid of owl and forgive the alliteration, please?
  6. OJ, You won the debate with intelligent argument and you got the last word which is something when you are going up against owl and k. K is much more skilled at debate. When he is losing an argument owl usually says that football boards aren't the place for this type of discussion. This is always after he has gone on and on about the subject at hand. The guy who made the tacky, unkind personal comments about Ensworth's players and their talented coach was just mad about being beat. I really enjoyed reading your posts and when I get back to the library I will look for the book you recommended.
  7. Please allow me to translate the truth that may really be painful. "How dare Coach Bowers beat BA with a school that is stealing some of the best players that might have previously attended BA and (gasp), he is doing it with a school that was started very recently." Coach Bowers, you must quit winning if you want the "right sort" of people to like you.
  8. Football players, even the girls, should not wear "war earrings". It sets the wrong tone for what is essentially a game. Peace earrings or perhaps a small post type earring with a tasteful monogram in the schools initals (ES or BA) would be more appropriate.
  9. Dear Posters on this Thread, (owl,k,rolly, the guy that said spot on and oj, to name a few) Thank you so much for the posting and responses about earrings and hair length. I have just spent 15 minutes or so reading the most amusing posts. I will admit to ya'll that I have no business on the private school boards (we don't even have a private school in our county ), as several of you have pointed out in the past. However, with fall break coming up next week, I had a little extra time on my hands and I didn't make it to the library today. I was reading about our game last night and just thought I would take a little peek at what was going on in DII. It was particularly interesting to read about Bayor beating BA and it sounded like a great game. The "Does Ensworth Recruit" had a few comments that were thought provoking, but I resisted the slight temptation I felt to post. Much to my surprise, one of the posters did beg pardon for critizing the grammar and spelling of another poster and the critized poster accepted the apology. "Spot on", if i may borrow a phrase from one of the posters on this thread. I promise that I will never, ever borrow that phrase again. Thank you all again for the posts about earrings and hair. It seems as if the private schools are indeed turning out their fair share of posters with a flair for comedy. I would especially like to commend the BA and MBA graduates who posted here and will be looking for further example of your humor on the Blue Collar Comedy channel. Sincerely, ahapplet PS Ensworth, I know MBA beat you this year, but they are still upset at you for having the gall to start up your own school.
  10. You have gotten way off track. Listen-I think its great you live in a nice little Tennessee town where the high school there just won the state championship. Knowing your family still occupies land from the 17th century is great. But that has no bearing on rotating the championship games next year. I was born and raised in a farming community just outside of Nashville in the 60's. In the early 70's the Davidson County school district began to bus. So kids in my little Tennessee town had to get on a yellow school bus and travel 30 to 45 minutes into the city of Nashville for Jr. high school and high school. Our high school was turned into a middle school for inner city kids to attend. Our little community was no more. Count your lucky stars that the little town you live in has not seen the high school turned into a middle school. And your kids don't travel miles from your community to attend a comprehensive high school. By the way, during this time is when middle Tennessee private schools other than MBA, Father Ryan, Harpeth Hall began to flourish. I guess we did make it out of our little town due to circumstances beyond our control. The TSSAA needs to be fair when scheduling championship games. It doesn't matter what side of the tracks you come from. Fat, you got more off track. I was replying to the type of poster that makes Division II posters look like snobs, implying that public school parents, students, and small town Tennesseans are not as capable of making money or as well educated as Division II supporters. TSSAA is not going to put you on Saturday night until you have more teams in your Division. Twelve (? )teams equals no power and I would really like to see the match-ups I listed above. Alcoa vs. MUS or MBA or Ensworth....what a game. Why not come back to Division I? Oh and by the way, most of the Division II posters including you and Woodruff seem like nice guys and it is fun talking to you.
  11. You seem to enjoy our complaints and find humor in our responses. You also indicate that your town is enjoying a state championship today. Imagine you have the good fortune to pick up another one next year...and two more in the next three years. You have a good football program, you follow the rules, and all is well with the world. And then the TSSAA by majority vote consigns your school and a handful of others, spread throughout the state, into a separate division. Your travel costs go up, your scheduling alternatives dwindle, and your state championship pool consists of almost enough teams to have made up two districts in the '70's. Would you maybe find yourself just ever so slightly resentful? That's what happened to us. We did nothing wrong; we violated no rules. If you want to count BA's issue, a tempest in a teapot over which numerous courts were unable to agree, fine. Punish them. But Ensworth and JP II were stuck here before they ever fielded a varsity football team, much less had an opportunity to commit a transgression of any sort. MBA played football for eight decades without any allegation of impropriety, Ryan for at least six. I know of no complaints against Baylor, McCallie, CBHS or MUS. Likewise, these schools had no monopoly on state football championships in the period of state playoffs from '69 until the split. (Odd how nobody complained about recruting or the allegedly wide pool from which we had to choose then. In Nashville, AAA coaches relished playing MBA and Ryan. That was in the age of spines; sadly, that day has passed.) Your amusement at our temerity in complaining about a fundamentally unjust act says a great deal about you. Sadly, none of it is very flattering. I am amused by your complaints. The students who attend the schools you mentioned are very fortunate and the parents who can afford to send them to these schools obviously care very much for their children. Life isn't fair and many of the kids on our team can't afford the championship sweatshirts, much less the tuition fee your schools would charge. Many kids on our team, and their parents would have a lot more to complain and worry about than the TSSAA doing them wrong. Thank you for your insightful comments. You are an excellent writer and I enjoy your posts.
  12. If the money and power in the independent schools had any influence with the TSSAA, there wouldn't be a Division II. And if you don't want to read our complaints about the shafting we get from the TSSAA, there's no requirement that you read our boards. I enjoy reading your boards and the complaints especially. Replying to the posts my comments generate is the most fun of all. At least I've got you thinking. Division II is a new and sometimes strange world to me, because we have no private schools in our entire county. I am learning about a very different sociological group from my own and it is a fascinating study. I would like to see the above mentioned match-ups, however.
  13. Never, ever, ever, gonna happen. I know I said this at the beginning of the season, but the interest in Division II can't compare to Division I, as far as interest in the games go. I can't believe that coach t isn't at least a small indicator of fan support and ya'll have 4 or 6 pages on the championship games and all the other games in the classes above have 50 or 60 or 70 or 80. Get the fans and TSSAA will follow or get your own organization or figure out some way to get back into Division I. I would love to see a game between Maryville and MBA,or Alcoa and MUS, or Columbia and Brentwood Academy, or Giles County and BGA, or Union City and Webb, etc. You people are supposed to have money and power and influence......use it and quit fussing. So the TSSAA looks at COACH T fan input to determine when to schedule championship games?? YEAH right. Not much interest in DII football? Standing room only for DII games this year...... EHS vs. MBA (both games) BA vs. MBA MUS vs CBHS MBA vs FRHS McCallie vs Baylor BA vs FRHS BGA vs MBA Everytime DII schools and supporters use their "money and power and influence" people like you complain the playing field is not fair! So we FUSS and you COMPLAIN. It is our American right. Rotate the games next year!!! That is as much money, power and influence I can muster. Could be that you just don't have ENOUGH money, power and influence? I guess you realize that your fussing on Coach T will also have little impact on the TSSAA, especially since few of the Division II faithful seem to participate on this board. I can't help but feel there is some small statistical significance to the number of posters concerning the championship games of the two Divisions playing this season and the amount of interest in the respective games.

Okay so maybe we don't have as many fans, but colleges and the general public is probably more interested to watch a high caliber game. We don't have as many alumni because we are smaller schools who don't draw from a single community and we have successful alumni that make money and get out of tennessee instead of getting stuck in the same town. I laughed when I read your reply to my post. We are celebrating the 200th birthday of our "small town" this year and my family has lived here since almost the beginning. Some of my extended family is on the same farm my great, great, great, great, grandfather acquired. When I pointed this out to my son, he said, "I guess that means we just never made it out.'' But you know it's not a bad life here and we are celebrating a state championship this morning. And oh by the way, we have a few successful alumni as well, but no private schools. I love Tennessee as well.

  16. Great post Mr. Blue, but imperfection wouldn't know a split invenitive if it bit him on the behind.
  17. You issued a false statement, so I had to defend against such rudeness. I'm doing just fine at UTC majoring in English, but you keep trucking! I'm not playing college football; same as millions of other high school football players (you as well) who just weren't big or good enough to play at the next level. 2-8 Fr year, 1-9 So year, 6-4 Jr year, 8-3 Sr year. Cherrio and Chap are usually present in stereotypical English portrayls; don't know how you connected that with young age. I don't know of any reason why you would want me to describe my non-academic pursuits besides the fact you seem kinda obsessed with me (thanks ). And I dunno, if I could read minds I'd know why you are such a grumpy person. Again, this all leads to my question; what is your point about the DII title game being on a Thursday? Please do not major in English. I don't use my private life to justify my writing, so how could you possibly know that I did not play college football. If you are determined to major in English, you must try and explain the "cherrio, chap" comment and why it has any relevance in your reply to me. Use clear English sentences in your explanation. This will be good practice for you and your English teachers will thank me. Don't use "dunno" in your posts and I never want to read that "hreet" that you often use, again. ("kinda" too) Your writing skills have been criticized on the boards before and not by me. You can major in English. I was only kidding. You are young and will learn. I don't care about your private life or the private life of any 19 year old who is not related to me. UTC is a great school! Enjoy school and good luck.
  18. Well I have to admit, you have added a little wit to your comments this time around. Congrats on taking that Intro to Writing class in community college since the last time we saw you. It's done you well. And KW has not once complained or whined about the loss. If anything, he has been 100% unbiased about MBA and has always given equal time to both the positives and negatives of the team as well as the school. Anyone involved with a DII school is sick of how the TSSAA has treated these schools over the past 10+ years, so that is an attitude you will find runs consistently on this part of the board And oh dear, we have addressed this subject. I started in three games my sophomore year at NT, missed one to injury, and in the other six, I was the first LB and D-O lineman off the bench. My junior year, I started week zero at Guard and then missed the last nine games due to the same injury as previously mentioned. My Senior year I started the last three games at LB, missed one again due to that cute little broken back that I have had since Sophomore year, and then rolled in the entire game the other seven at O-D Line. I never made all-region anything, but I got to play for and with some of the best coaches and players in the state while I was at BGA, and always did what they asked of me (eh at least at LB, I sucked badly against Briarcrest on offense). And yes, I played with whoever it was that said that, but as I said before, he, as well as you, get to hide behind some bushleague name and say whatever you like. I decided to take some measure of responsibility for what I say on here, which I hope adds a little poignancy to my comments, as I loved being able to play for BGA and against the best competition and in some of the best environments in the state. On to whatever God forsaken point you are trying to make...The last game of the college and pro seasons are games between the two best teams. Well here in Tennessee, the two best teams hands down in the state are being boned by having to play on a Thursday night. We simply were discussing what the reasoning behind this is. No whining. No going over to the 6A board saying that Oakland and Riverdale suck. A few people who have ties to the one or more of the twelve teams that comprise the best conference in the state were simply curious as to why the TSSAA would essentially hide their best product. Seriously, get over this little fetish you have of having to show us the light. You seem like a sad little man without much going for you. I'm 19 and in college, and in the free time I have between parties and class, I get to jump on here for a bit and talk about something I am passionate about, all while getting a rise out of some exceptionally enlightened and educated boys like you. Cherrio chap and I look forward to your response xoxo <3 <3 I think it is hilarious that I got under your skin to the degree than you gave me a long, boring summary of you high school football career. Your football summary was not very clear, however, so perhaps you need to attend community college and bone up on your writing skills. Where are you playing college ball? How many games did BGA win during your high school football years? I am a little worried about you, however. I knew you were young, but I didn't realize you were still a child. I have never known a 19 year old to say "cheeio", "chap", and I can't imagine you attending a party. Your writing leads me to believe that you are telling the truth. Oh by the way, why is it that one of your former team mates seems to not like you very much?
  19. I just thought I'd throw this out there, but this is the second time you have dipped into the DII boards and seemed like an (insert whatever clever explitive you would like here). But it's really great to have you back here champ; can't wait to see what you have to contribute. Hey old get in the game when they are won and done. These are not my words but the words of someone who played with you or against you when you were playing. How's it going? Good to hear from you and thanks for you kind invite to participate in this lofty section of coach t. Congradulatons on BGA beating MBA Friday night.
  20. I don't have a definitive answer, but I would guess so. TSSAA schools play non-TSSAA routinely in out of state games. MBA has left the TSSAA previously and to the best of my knowledge continued playing TSSAA member schools. Other states have complete splits, but I'm not really sure how they do it. Of course, I suspect the TSSAA would take as vindictive a stance as at all possible, so I wouldn't count on inter-association competition. Since there's no really good justification, I could also see litigation if the TSSAA tried to prohibit such games. It would be messy, but I can't see it as being any worse than the current situation. Woolsworth, I know you are in a bad mood because of the loss MBA took to a less than great BGA team but you will have to suck it up. Why don't you and little a.p. battleax use your vast influence and have the Division II schools get out of the TSSAA now. It is hard to read about grown men, or as in the in the case of little a and p, almost grown men cry.
  21. That is the first thing I read this morning because we didn't get the paper for some reason and I just died laughing. What is the excuse for sticking what is essentially the best game in the state of Tennessee every year on a Thursday? I've never heard of the reasoning. Best game in the state........I'm trying so hard not to cuss. Whine, whine, whine, and more whine. What is it that you two don't understand about numbers? Whole towns turn out for public school games and that doesn't happen in Division II. Money and numbers. Handle it.
  22. You've obviously missed your nap, and it's affected your writing. First, if you're going to post here, realize that every Div II thread is required to have an allegation that we all recruit. Secondly, when we reply to the unwashed about their scurrilous allegations, we do so in a manner that amuses our brethren. It's in the rules, look it up. And finally, please focus your righteous indignation. The BA contingent haven't weighed in at all, and I think most of us from MBA have been gracious in defeat. As a first post, it scores about as well as my first theme at MBA...double digits, but just barely I admire your response to the post by hd castle because I didn't understand what he or she was talking about, despite his Ensworth education. Of course. this might be due to my reading skills, which I must admit did not have the benefit of an Ensworth or MBA education. Exactly what did you mean by the words, "unwashed" and "brethren"? This type of language might be interpreted by some as sounding snobbish or superior, but I'm sure you did not use them in this context. However, I think your former English teacher would appreciate clarity in your posts, since you mention having graduated from MBA quite often. You would probably receive credit in your post for the use the the words, "scurrilous", and "contingent".
