  1. 1A. Walker Valley (All the tools and a ton of arms) 1B. Soddy Daisy (Great young players but will be tough to replace Stephens and McWilliams. Have the best coach) 3. Rhea County (Most everybody back and a good new coach has everybody excited) 4. Cleveland (Good young players and they will be there in the end) 5. Ooltewah (They lost everybody!) 6. Bradley (Good young players but losing Brand will hurt on Mondays) 7. McMinn (Massengill is a stud but they dont have much else)
  2. No one can match Walden and Adkins in this district. Probably three of the best teams in the Chattanooga area, but in a two game series those guys are gonna make RB tough to beat. I'd say SD is second - a couple of good sticks and some solid pitching. The Owls are the wild card...They could be okay I guess, but based on what I saw last year they just show up when they want and don't have much discipline. Central continues to improve and Carter does a good job, his team is just a little outgunned in this district. 1. RB 2. SD 3. OHS 4. CENT
  3. I hope you're not putting your stock in a blocked punt to win the game for Oakland. Also, I can assure you that unless there are strong winds, Nelson won't return one kickoff. I saw Ooltewah's kicker (John Long) have seven touchbacks in one game. And I'm sure your guy is going to do that tired high short kick toward the sidelines. Ask Soddy Daisy how that worked out for them. So, what that means is you start on your 20 and have to drive 80 yards to score a touchdown, with little hope of a field goal. And Ooltewah will have a shorter field with a great kicker. When you're talking about a game with two great defenses like this, how can that not be a huge advantage? Unless you convert on every 3rd and 4th down you are going to need a kicker at some point. And if Ooltewah gets the ball near mid-field and gets 2 first downs they are well within field goal range. You don't think that's an advantage? Here's a couple of things you need to remember: Ooltewah isn't Smyrna (who was held to less than 20 points 8 times this year), and Oakland isn't at home. Great season, great story, the new coach has done a great job, but I'll put my money on Benny Monroe and the Owls.
  4. Everybody agrees that this is going to be a close defense-dominated game, right? If that's true and field position is going to play a huge role, I like the Owls for one reason: THEY HAVE A KICKER! If Oakland can't change field position with their punter and we have one of the best kickers in the state, it is going to be even tougher for Oakland to put up points. From what I hear, Oakland will not even be able to make field goals outside 30 yards. Is that true Oakland fans? If it is, you're gonna have to drive the length of the field and score touchdowns. Good luck! You might do it once, but that's not gonna be enough. The only thing that can stop the Owls are turnovers. Owls 17 Pats 7
  5. The kid Goodpasture saw the first time was not Marion's ace. It was their #3. I think this was a great move by Roberts. What are the odds that you are going to beat Adkins anyway. Why not start your #3 and if you score some runs early, you can bring in a better pitcher. If they would've mathed up #1s and lost (which they would have against Adkins), then they would be at the house right now. From what I've seen, I agree that Goodpasture is the better team, but this time of year it's about who plays the best. And, on any given day, you can catch lightning in a bottle. Marion's strength all year has been their pitching depth. We will see if that holds true today against a very talented Goodpasture team.
  6. MC is the team to beat in this district and the only one that is deep enough to make a post-season run. Them city boys are in trouble!
  7. 11 to 5 in the 4th inning; Bartlett is beating South Doyle
