  1. 1) WSHS loses to MUS ............... 21-28 (I think WSHS gives MUS a run for their money) 2) Arlington beats Bolton ............ 21 -14 (Arlington gets their 1st quality win, in district play at that) 3) Craigmont loses to Briarcrest ... 7 - 28 (Briarcrest proves to be too much) 4) Millington beats Cordova ......... 14 - 10 (district play slobber knocker ... Millington does it the old fashioned way) 5) East loses to Melrose ............. 21 - 28 (District 16 grudge match ... man ... all of that speed on one field!) MUS 45 - 21 Arlington 28 - 7 Craigmont 21 - 10 Cordova 17 - 14 East 28 - 21 As far as St. George's vs Fayette Acad., St. George's 35 - 7
  2. owlbooster, Thank you for that English lesson. It's a matter of semantics, all I left out was the word "seems". I didn't, however, say you stated it as a fact, I simply said you stated it, which you did. As far as it being an appearance shared by the dubious public, I haven't heard it from anyone but you, I'm not sure how dubious you may be... Also, about our "success" when we moved up to DII-AA, if I recall correctly, the first year we were there we made it as far in the playoffs as did MUS and in fact our record was slightly better, the 2nd year we didn't fare as well though. You omitted Knoxville Webb and Pope John Paull II in your definition of the "Greater Memphis Christian School League". Regarding Webb, I am right regarding the #'s as of the reclassification timeline, look it up. Also, they will be on our schedule assuming we make it to State as you predicted.
  3. I believe you're wrong about Center Hill. If I'm not mistaken, this is their second year with a senior class. Other than that I can't speak to the rest of your statements.
  4. I'm among many others that care about ECS vs USJ actually. Who cares if you ignore them, that's your choice. Believe me, the reason ECS chose to drop down had nothing to do with becoming the big fish in a little pond either. It's all about the #'s, ECS fell into the new classification of DII -A and decided to remain there rather than "play-up", which they did for 2 years and did quite well in all honesty. As a matter of fact ECS is by far the largest school in DII-A. And you DID do "quite well" in DII-AA, so why switch? The only "numbers" ECS seems to care about is number of WINS. If you get a sense of satisfaction by beating the tar out of Bishop Byrne, Fayette Academy et al, rather than playing better teams and possibly losing, you go get 'em. But if I were an ECS supporter, I would want to play the best schedule you could handle. DII-A is NOT that. You're better than that. But have fun counting up all those "state championships" coming to you! Actually, ECS only has 36 more students than Knoxville Webb as of the classification #'s. Being an ECS supporter, my feelings had no weight in the decision, as I'm certain no other supporters did either. Also, I was honestly disappointed when the decision was made and would rather have remained in DII-AA, but for you to say that wins are the only #'s ECS cares about, unless you have some inside knowledge of ECS, which I doubt, is a rather bold statement.
  5. owlbooster, Congrats to you for your success. By the way, you have no idea of my ability to pass or not pass the entrance exam to MUS. I beg to differ, I'm sure I could but that's beside the point. I never accused MUS of recruiting, I did however state that some do. I know for a fact of one that has, (which wasn't MUS), this however was in a different sport. They weren't given any type of aid from the school directly, it came from a relative that happened to be an alum of the school. If you read my post I also stated that it happens at public schools. In regards to my need for more education, I'm educated quite well thank you and also have a background quite similar to yours. Before you go placing labels on people perhaps you should know a little more about them...
  6. Thanks for answering honestly. It struck a nerve when you called them out in an earlier response regarding recruiting. I know that some do recruit but I believe you'd be hard-pressed to lump ECS in that category. It also bothers me that most people hang the recruiting on private schools when we all know that public do it as well and it doesn't really matter how brazenly it's done, if it's done it's done and wrong no matter how you look at it.
  7. I have to disagree about MUS. If they recruit they are doing a pretty bad job of it. especially when there whole defense is a bunch of white kids who average 5'10 in height(by the way they held Millington to 0 points) Trust me, (or not) they recruit. If a coach can pick one or two players that are exceptional athletes, it can change the whole makeup of a team and what they do or do not run. That plus a good coaching staff can create a lot of wins. (I like the subtle poke at the Miilington Trojans) trojanswar365, Just curious, can you name any football player, and prove that they were recruited by ECS? Or just any that you think might have been recruited? Also, just for argument sakes, do you actually think this hasn't been done by any public schools?

  9. KWC, Thanks for the props. I haven't chimed yet this year, my son graduated and I kinda lost interest. ECS has surprised me this year. Even though they dropped down a division, they have looked impressive. I look for this to be a close game but I think ECS will pull it out in the end. ECS's QB has exceptional speed and can clock off a 60 yd run from a busted play in a heartbeat. Am I missing something though, to my knowledge they only have one SEC commitment, Harrison Jones, TE? Wsttnballer: I may be incorrect, but I thought I saw somewhere where ECS has an OL who has verballed to an SEC school like LSU or something. I may be wrong ... but I thought I read that somewhere. They have a couple of prospects, Austin Marshall 6-3, 300 lb center and John Jordan about 6-5 250 or 260 OL, but to my knowledge neither have been offered yet. Also, another lineman 6-5ish around 245, possibly the best of the group, only a junior. Another top prospect, junior RB Davis Childers, relatively unknown, but this kid can flat run the ball with both speed and power. I look for this junior lineman, running back and the QB who is also a junior to get multiple offers next year. The only drawback for the QB is he is mighty thin, but man he can fly, may look for him to convert to a WR at the next level. I could be wrong, but I haven't heard of one of the lineman being offered and committing yet.

  11. What happened to the starting catcher?
  12. There's a bracket on MUS's website. Here's the link; http://mussports.typepad.com/baseball/
  13. I guess they weren't > than Collierville on that day, huh? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  14. Whitehaven vs. G'town - Whitehaven gets revenge in this one. White Sta vs. Mill, Millington in a no doubter in my opinion. Melrose vs. East, I'm going with East in this one, I agree with Cam6 on this one, a good running game will prevail over a good passing game. Fairley vs. Henry Co., gotta go with Henry Co. on this one, they look too strong. MSU vs. MBA, going with the home town boys in this one, MUS in a close one.
  15. KWC, I agree with everyone of your picks. This seems to be a pattern, lol.
  16. I hear ya. Not to mention, why would OB go thru the expense of traveling to Fl for a scrimmage.
  17. It was OB. According to Pahokee, it was a scrimmage game of sorts, not an official schedule game.
  18. You are right. Let's just hope that an entire season of going both ways hasn't taken it's toll to badly. I'm sure #38 is up for it and will be ok though.
  19. I believe everyone is pretty healthy. The only question mark is the qb, but he appears to be doing fine. Regarding #38 and #7, I did some checking and they are too important on defense to rest 'em apparently. If they get any rest, it would be on offense. They have plenty in the offensive backfield with #38, #22 and #7, although all of them play defense as well. Kinda spreads 'em thin playing both ways, but you do what you gotta do I guess. Regarding Rob_M's question, Collierville should bring a good crowd, let's hope everyone isn't thinking of last year's results.
  20. No doubt about that, just ask ECS this year. Played down every game except four conference games and went 1-3 in the conference. Now we're sitting at home just watching.
  21. Yeah, the big plays did kill us. Not to make excuses, but this was the game the starting qb leg was bothering him after playing on it being fractured the previous 2 weeks w/o knowing it. We brought a sophomore in to replace him who will be a good player in time, he just isn't ready.
  22. yeah, he plays db. He ran qb quite a bit last year when the starter went out with a broken arm and did quite well. I actually expected him to take the position over this year. I think they would be better with him at qb personally, he reminds me of Brian Hall that was there a few years ago and is now playing wr at Memphis, he's just a little smaller than Hall. He is very fast.
  23. I'm of the same opinion, I believe he's the best player on the team. You're right, he takes a beating going both ways. I wish they'd sub more on defense, they have plenty of players that wouldn't hurt them, none as strong as #38, but they'd be ok I think. Just don't think they will though. I think he only ran the ball 5 or 6 times the first game. I believe once they got down, they went more to the pass. You also have to watch out for #7, he's a playmaker. It does look like Millington is a better balanced team now. Gonna be a tough one for C'ville no doubt.
  24. Long only plays offense. He's pretty tough, stays on his blocks well.
