    tssaa rule

My understanding is...players on HS team can not practice or play with their travel teams until their HS season is completely finished.
  2. I'd like to congratulate Leigha Carter on back to back perfect games over the last two days. That is a feat that is hard to do, no matter who you are playing! Cascade beat Community 15-0 yesterday and beat Huntland 24-0 today. Leigha faced the minimum number of batters each game with each game being a no-hitter! Congrats to Leigha and congrats to the entire team for playing flawless defense behind her! Congrats on an outstanding accomplishment!!!
  3. It's certainly a long season but...MJ beat Goodpasture 2-0 Friday night and Beech 2-0 this afternoon. Like pre and early season college football polls, I'd say it's worthless putting early season predictions out there for softball too. Let's see where everybody is when the dust settles on the diamond in Murfreesboro. I agree as there have been teams that did not even win their District, but still made it to State. You just never know when one miscue can cost you an elimination game. At the end of the season, only the State Champions in their respective class/division, do not look back on what might have been.
  4. They beat PJP and then lost, on a 'fluke play' (with 1 out and a runner on 1st, the pitcher fielded a 'dribble' and turned to throw to the SS for a double-play, but nobody was there and the ball went all the way to the fence for a 2-run inside-the-park HR), to Creekwood. Just to clarify....if the batter scored on a throwing error, then it was not an inside-the-park HR.
  5. 5 in the opening week......WOW!
  6. Congrats to Katie.....awesome accomplishment.
  7. I agree....most coaches are competitive and want to win in everything they do. Checkers, Uno, Bingo, or an actual ball game. However, I do not believe all the coaches considered every game at play days as MUST win games.
  8. If you check my previous statement closely, I did not say EVERYONE was out of position. My point was.....some coaches took the games very seriously, while others did not. Some coaches do not want to throw their best pitcher against certain teams they feel they have a chance to meet in a Region, Sub-State, or State game. So the opponent does not get multiple looks at the pitcher's stuff. And just because team A beat team C 2-1 in a pool game at a play day, does not make them the hands down favorite as state champions.
  9. I agree, it was a PLAY day, so the teams can just get out and PLAY. Some teams and coaches acted like it was the finals of the State tournament, while others had starters sitting, some players out of their "normal" position, and finding out what new players, freshman, or reserves can or can not do. The stats do not count, and neither do the wins and loses. State champions are decided in Murfreesboro in May, not at play days in March.
  10. If someone thinks recruiting does not happen, they have their head in the sand!!! I personally know of a situation, of a very good athlete contacted by a private school, near the end of their 8th grade year. Parents told contact, they could not afford to send their child there, unless they received a "full scholarship". The person making contact on behalf of the school said, we do not have full scholarships available, but we do have "SPONSORS", that are willing to pay your tuition costs, if your child will attend here. Athlete did not attend the private school.
  11. TN ASA 18A State tournament was held at Tyner Park in Chattanooga. 1-Chattanooga Fillies 2-TN Xplosion 3-TN Edge

    Warner Park

Heard Warner Park in Chattanooga is being revamped. Has anyone been by there lately, that could give an update? Will it be ready for the Ooltewah tournament in 2008?
  15. I think the game should not be played in Manchester, the same weekend as Bonnaroo.
  16. A powerful hitter, and a great catcher.
  17. So only Seniors will be actually playing...yes, no?
  18. Guess your crystal ball is cracked as well.....and we don't want to hear anything about the finals of the winners bracket being THE state championship game.
  19. Guess your crystal ball is cracked
  20. Some of the Spring Fling articles appearing in the Nashville paper are actually from the DNJ of Murfreesboro.
  21. Caroline Mason has 18.
  22. Then quickly get ice for each pitcher's arm and shoulder!!!!!
  23. Below are the 1st round AAA SB matchups of 2006 and 2007. Game 1 Brentwood vs Soddy-Daisy-------------Mt. Juliet vs Bolton Game 2 Collierville vs Knox. Central------------Riverdale vs Knox. Central Game 3 Ooltewah vs Mt. Juliet-----------------Brentwood vs Soddy-Daisy Game 4 Houston vs Heritage------------------Collierville vs Powell
  24. Can't speak from personal experience on the Memphis area, but from what I have seen over the years, the Chattanooga Free Times Press gives the best local coverage of High School sports. No, I am not from the Chattanooga area, but if our team does play there, you can read about it the next day. I am HIGHLY disappointed in the lack of coverage in the Nashville Tennessean, when playing in the Nashville area.
  25. The winner of the Brentwood/Beech game will play the winner of Soddy Daisy/Columbia in first round of state.
