  1. Ya. I can't believe that Palin got the call, and not me. LOL. Seriously, "Diplomatic" isn't a word that I'd expect to be used to discribe me.
  2. SID, I for one am glad to see the Chiefs improving. I'm a 3AAA fan (after being a Central fan). Chiefs keep working and I can see you winning 3rd in the region this year. But as for the game friday night, I don't know if Sequoyah is ready. Centrals speed at WR, power at running, arm at QB, and being led by the best OL's I've seen so far. Plus one of the swarmingest "D's" around. I'm afraid that it's going to be a long night for Sequoyah.
  3. Here's the truth. It was shameful that the score ended up being 55-0. If you ask me, I think that there should be something done about it. BUT, it's NOT, and I repeat NOT Central's place to limit their own score. It's Meigs County's place to limit the score of Central. That's the name of the game. But you also have to consider this. Central's starters have worked hard all summer lifting, running, practicing plays, etc, and there are only 10 games that are guarenteed. Everyone that thinks Central should "LIMIT" their starters to just half a game are advocating "cheating" these seniors and juniors out of playing time that they will never get back. Also, there are some of these players that have a good shot at scholarships, and stats are an important part of winning those positions at the next level. So, are Central's players suppose to compete for these scholarships with only half a season while the rest of the players in the state are playing a full season? It's hard for someone to know what happened that wasn't there, or hasn't seen the game, but the bottom line is that no ONE player had outstanding stats from this game, unless you count the kicker. Defense scored twice. Once on a blocked punt, one on an interception. And Central had only two players with two TD's, with the other four coming from different players. There was only two "bombs" thrown for TD's, and the rest of the scores came from runs. And trust me, Central could have passes on Meigs ALL NIGHT LONG. Central players worked hard, executed their game plan. They did so without taking any cheap shots or short cuts. They played the game as it is supposed to be played and kicked some serious Tiger tail. And now, we are not "whining" or crying. We're not even gloating. We have already started looking at the next game against an improved Sequoyah Cheifs team.
  4. We've moved. Got LOTS of work to do at new place. We are now able to send our kids to Polk Co. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> See you tomorrow night.
  5. My thinking is that East Ridge and Notre Dame are hoping that Meigs players do some dumb things and get some players ejected. Meigs isn't going to win against Central, but they have a better shot at winning against Notre Dame or East Ridge IF all their players are playing. It'd be a shame to miss the opportunity to play against their old coach. And I have to think that Meig's depth can't stand to lose any players.
  6. Central lost 7 players I believe. Slack, Barnett, McCaslin, Spann, Shamblen, Watkins, and Williams. All of them good kids. But, the team as a whole is going to be bigger and tougher this year. As for the QB line up as of now. It's Moss at QB, but that's just a temp thing. Rayl and Brandon will have to hit the ground learning. Jackson knows the plays, but I really expect Rayl to win the starting spot, with Jackson sliding back to the running back slot, pushing Aaron Walker into the full back slot (IF Walker can learn the blocking assignments, if not, it's Watson at FB, or maybe splitting time back there) and moving Moss out to WR. I think that Brandon could see time as back up QB, with Calvin filling the QB third slot. As for how this team will match up against other teams in this region... Central vs Howard will be the game of the season, again. The rest of the region games this year will just be alot of "Blue & White" cheering and dancing. (Going to be a good year!) /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Polk will take 3rd, and with the problems that some of the other schools are having at this time, I'd have to say that Notre Dame is looking like a favorite for 4th right now, but East Ridge may slip up and shake 3rd and 4th up some.
  7. There's also no "U" in our team....Thank goodness.
  8. That does sound better. If the coach is remotely interested in a long term plan for Sequoyah, he'll be very interested in helping develope the players at Vonore and Madisonville. (He may want to join the two, that may hurt some feelings) And I'm sure that he'd be more then happy to share his game plan with the youth teams. And I'm sure that he understands that him watching and being involved with the youth leagues is very positive for the young players. I wish you all lots of luck. I would like to see Central beat a very good Sequoyah team this fall. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. I don't have a dog in this race, other then wanting to see all the teams in our region do well, so you can take this with a grain of salt, but I think that you may have the plow in front of the horse here. If I were the incoming coach for the high school, I would take GREAT offense to some little league dads calling a meeting so that they could tell me what they expect of me. Scenes of "Hoosiers" in the barber shop come to mind. A meeting might be proper in due time, but I'd hate to think that I was called to coach a high school team and the dads were going to tell me what they wanted me to do. That plan has SO MANY possible outcomes, and not a one of them will be possitive for the Chiefs. It would probably be best if the commissioners (dad's) came to the meeting with a notepad and pencil and took note of what is to be expected of them. Just a thought.
  10. Hope you all get it together. It's no fun beating weak teams. And if I understand the new playoff plan for 09, you guys are a shoe in for the playoffs until another school is moved to 4A statis in our region.
  11. From the tone of your post, it sounds as if you think that Central is guilty of recruiting, or at least of being unfair to it's players. First, we would welcome any TSSAA official to come and watch everything that we do, and have nothing to hide, even though there have been rumors of all sorts of inappropriate behavior on the players, coaches, and boosters part. Second, do the players that transfer to Central not have as much right to play as a player who has been there since their freshman year? Why do you seem to want to punish a player who has been transferred as a result of death of a parent, parents' divorce, parents' job transfer, all of which are out of the kids control. What are YOU telling the kids that transfer because of circumstances beyond their control. We ARE being careful with our young people... ALL of them from the third generation Charger to the newly transferred.
  12. Central Athletes don't look that good??? They won first place in their region in football. Second place in district and region in men's basketball, first place in district and region and two state births in womens basketball in the last three years. Baseball won first last year, and finished first in the east division this year. What about these numbers don't look good??? You know, when folks are saying "Get a Clue", they are giving you a directive, not a nickname.
  13. I ain't been here for a while, so I'll just write a book to make up for it. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> First, Central football is going to be ok, with our without Jackson. And it seems to me to be aweful insulting to the new QB, if there is on, to say that the drop will be so dramatic. If Central does nothing but fire the OL off the ball, have Watson bust open a hole, and Walker carry behind these guys, it'll be good for 5 plus yards everytime. But, if the opponents pack the line, they'll have the speed of Harrison, Moss, and Simpson that will cost them more then 5 yards. And as for the "D", Central will be stronger there this year. I think that it'll be Howard and Central playing the last game of the year for all the marbles. As for Jackson playing or not. Remember, last year Central had a player that was expelled for a year (2006) for having a knife at school. At the end of the years expulsion (2007), he was right back on the team. The county and state have rules for how to handle disciplinary problems in place, and once those are met, the student is eligible to play. So, just going on how things were handled in the past, I'd say that Jackson will get a shot under center. Provided that he fulfills the county and state's requirements. As for recruiting, I'm not sure how things are done in Memphis or Chattanooga, we have no private schools locally. But, from what I've seen, the biggest recruiting tool that a coach or school has is their past record, past players playing in college, and the learning enviroment of the school. The kids look at the first one. Every kid around Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton, and South Pittsburg dreams of one day suiting up in one of those uniforms. Every kid wants to play for the best. The parents look at the next two, and consider them as they decide where to send "Jr." And I'd say that these schools rank very high these catagories, or else they wouldn't have the success that they do. Success breeds success, and it also draws players. So, I don't think that recruiting is as prevalent as some think. I just think that successful programs become magnets for players and parents that hope for success and scholarships.
  14. Ok. I'm a McMinn Central fan. And what happened in the Marshall game was shocking. After the game, we all just left with a numb feeling. I mean, our girls had a good season, and played well. They have nothing to hang their heads about, but it still doesn't take the sting from this one game. But if someone is going to review any of the games, it should be the Clarkrange vs Bedford game. THAT had to be the worst called game that I have ever seen. It was in that game that I watched a girl drive the lane make contact with a defender and take a shot. Whistles blew, and two refs immediately stepped in to call the fouls. One ref called a block, the other ref called a charge. So all three refs huddled up, which is NEVER a good sign, and the resulting call was a double foul called on both the offensive and defensive player. A charge on the offensive player and a block on the defensive player. I was just there to enjoy a game, and ended up cheering for Clarkrange cause they were getting HOSED on about every call. They did manage to win, but they had to beat 8 people to get the win. The sad part is that I don't see it getting any better. I used to ref, and stopped when my kids started to play so that I could watch them, with plans to return once my kids graduated. But now... I'd hate to work with some of the idiots that find themselves on the highschool varsity floor.
  15. Touchy, touchy, touchy. As far as I can remember, I have never named Davis to make a negative remark about her. I said that she was a good player, and the fact that she was named Ms Basketball shows that several folks agree with you. What I said was that Poston, in my opinion, was a BETTER player, not that Davis was a BAD player. As for how many games that I have seen Upperman play, it has been more then one or two. My word. I swear, any post that doesn't bow to the awesome dominance of mid state teams seems to generate the wrath of the basketball gods. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  16. A lot of things at the 'boro' didn't make sense to me this year. And not to take anything away from Davis, cause she's a pretty good player in her own right, but Poston wasn't just the best player in AA, but of all the classes this week. And the game between Milan and Upperman showed just who deserved to be named Ms Basketball. Poston played "D" on Davis for most of the game and did good shutting her down. But Poston was able to score at will. In fact, she might have been guilty of not trying to score more for herself. In fact, I'll say that she may be the best player that I have seen in quite a few years, if not ever. Glad we didn't have to play her. But, then, I wish we did.
  17. Impressions so far. Upperman got a good win against a good Stone team. Stone had some calls go against them, but still had a chance to win. They just didn't execute at the end. Milan got one of the best draws for the first round. Creek Wood was never in the game. Hard to say what Milan has. They weren't challenged in this first round. McMinn Central played just well enough to win, but no where near their best game. Best thing that happened for Central is that they got the win, and didn't show anyone what type of team that they are. Marshall got the next best draw with Gibson. Marshall jumped out to a big lead, but then they just lost their focus and energy. Played well enough to get a big win. Predictions. Upperman will give Milan all that they can handle. I think that the inside defense of Dyer will negate the driving of Milan. I look for Upperman to get the win, but this will be a close game. McMinn Central will be able to put the press into a little more effect against a team that's a little slower then AE. Marshall will be very much in the game for the first quarter, but as the game goes on, Central will get stronger and stronger. Upperman and McMinn Central will get the wins Friday.
  18. I agree. This is a tough game to handicap. Austin-East's record doesn't mean anything. I do know that the all the players were back when they played Brainerd the night after Central played them, and lost by two, but I'm not sure how long they had all their players back. If they had been back for a couple of weeks and the players had all settled into their roles, it looks good for Central. But if they only came back shortly before then, they may not have been playing team ball at that point. And I'll agree that 97 points in a game looks impressive, but they allowed 74. Did neither team realize that they could play defense this game? This score looks more like a lay-up shooting contest rather then a basketball game. I think that this'll be a good game. Good luck Chargerettes.
  19. Hey BigDaddy, be sure to tell the girls that they have nothing to be ashamed of. I thought that they played hard the whole game. I didn't see any of them quiting and while their might have been some physical play coming from frustration, i think that it was from a deep desire to win, not to harm. And that's what winners do, they keep trying harder. It's not above my own kid to talk some trash or let an elbow fly now and then. She get's that from her mom. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> As for tonight, I hate it that I won't be able to make it to Livingston, but I've got to go earn some money so that I can afford my internet and keep "FLAPPING". Like I said, I think tonight will be a barn burner. But, I'll get to watch it as soon as my camera makes it back home and see that AWESOME gym of yours. Eat a hotdog for me. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  20. It's over. I'm over it. Get over it. Good luck to you.
  21. We've tried to be nice. Compliment you and go on, but you don't want it. And for the nice York folks that are being quiet, I'm sorry. But to the one's that don't know ANYTHING about basketball, take this time that you will be setting at the house and LEARN the game. Central kick some YORK tale last night. They did it with the bench, with the starters, and with the coach. For those of you that think the refs made a 21 point difference in that game, don't be so silly. That just makes you look dumb. As for us, we're going to forget this game as of 2:00 today, when we learn who our next opponent is. I guess you'll learn your next opponent when NEXT YEAR'S schedules are released.
  22. I understand that York fans are upset at the loss. But, don't even start on the calling. York girls were getting away with some pretty serious contact. One Central player was knocked to the floor at mid way through the third and did come back in. Another Central player had her mouth busted, but was able to come back. I didn't see any York girls picking themselves up off the floor after being shoved down. As for the foul count. York girls were just getting tired and were out of position on defense by the middle of the third, that's why the foul count was one sided. You can't keep the same 5 girls in for the whole game and expect them to stay in good defensive position. York girls played hard. They didn't quite. And they have had a good year. But, tonight they played a better team. As for the refs. The state sends them from outside the two regions that are involved in the game. In fact, they were late getting to the game because they got lost. Not only do they not know where Central is or who we are, they don't care. As for Central girls.....Good job. We'll be watching you all in the state. We're proud of you.
  23. My picks for tonight. Stone Memorial Austin-East McMinn Central Sequatchie Co. Marshall Co. Creek Wood Gibson Hillcrest
  24. I'm not going to predict a score. But I'd be shocked if either team wins by 24. These two teams are to evenly matched. This is going to be a game that will come down to the wire. The home court could be the difference in this game. Both teams just match up so well. I do predict that there will be alot of sore throats from yelling, a lot of tired boys from playing hard, and one team very proud of a tough earned win. Course, we just hate coming to LA and playing in that HUGE gym. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  25. Best of luck Chargerettes. Now go out there and be "Borderline Nasty."
