  1. I don't pay any attention to post like this. I'll sometimes ag it on a little. But you can sort of tell when a kid has posted something. And from my experience, 99.99% of the kids that are involved with their high school sports, either playing or managing, or being a fan, are pretty good kids. It's the kids that are outside the system that are the problems. So, King21, boast on, be proud of your school and team. And just to ag it on a little, "You show us how you should build a gym, and we'll show you how you should play in it." /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  2. I??™m not so sure that your right about Central??™s weak schedule. York has 5 single A teams with a combined record of 46-38, and lost a game to a single A team with a record of 18-14. Central only played one single A team, they had a record of 20-8, but that isn??™t a victory that we??™re really proud of. York did go 3-0 against AAA teams, while Central only managed 5-2. But the 2 AAA teams that York played had a combined record of 16-43. And while Central did play some weak AAA teams, they did get a respectable win against a 20-11 AAA Maryville team. But the most telling part to me, is that York had a record of 15-7 or 68% against AA teams who had a combined record of 150-122 or 55%. While Central went 24-0 or 100% against AA teams with combined records of 172-160 or 52%. So which is better? 68% against 55%, or 100% against 52%?
  3. For the most part all my post are tongue-n-cheek. We all should know that there's no real value in what the fans say, and after the games are over, we're still proud of our kids. But as for the game Saturday, it'll be a deliberate play of York against a running style of Central, which one coach from Maryville (the city, not the school) titled, "Full Court, In Your Face, Man-to-man Defense...Borderline Nasty". We kind of liked that. If you do come down Saturday, send me a Message and I'll buy you a hotdog and coke. But don't tell anyone. I like folks to think I'm a thug. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> As for the boys. I think they're all just excited to have made it this far. There's not a real "ALL STAR" on the team, just 5 guys playing pretty good team ball. I think that the perimeter play will be even, with the difference being in the two slashing type post of Central against the strong post play of Livingston. I'll make no boast on this game. But this isn't the sight for boys.
  4. Well, I won't keep "FLAPPING". All I was doing was stating what I thought. And I still stand by that assessment. But, your right, the game will be decided on the floor. As for our small gym, there's not much we can do about that. Besides, if we can stand it for season after season, surely you can squeeze in for one game, and I really don't know if God has a preference in gym design. Just know that we in Etowah/Englewood are proud of our girls, and they didn't get to 30-2 by being soft. As for Saturday night, hope you have a safe and enjoyable drive down. Look me up at the game. I'll be the one in "blue". /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  5. We took some of the girls up to see the Stone Memorial vs York game as well as a couple of nights of 7AA District tourn. We're going to hear a bunch of flap about York and 7AA, but let me say, we're in VERY good shape. This is concerning my thoughts on the two teams as a whole, not one individual. Central has the advantage in speed. Rather foot motion, ball handling, ball motion, defensive rotation, game speed, Central is just faster across the board. Central is deeper. York only subbed one player wih regularity, the 7th off the bench was rare. While Central goes 8-9 deep every game. With regard to Key Players, if you know Central, you know. I'm not going to help scout for York. But as for York. They have one ball handler that will struggle with pressure, a shooter #43, she needs to be set and open, but if left alone can hurt you, their only threat in my book. A post that is over looked, but does grab some boards and score from there. The advantage for York, they are stronger, or appear to be. My prediction for Saturday: Lots of negative comments about our small hot roundhouse, lots of trash before the game about 7AA of yester year, OH!, and Central wins by 20. Seriously, we've had our state tickets and parking passes bought for about 6 weeks now.
  6. I won't talk trash for another team. I'll just say that I have seen both Upperman and Sequatchie play twice now, and if we had to choose which team we wanted to play to get to state, we'd pick Upperman. Sequatchie will have to play good ball to win, but I think they have the edge. As for what happened in the past, well that's over. The days of 7AA waltzing to the 'boro are over, at least for the next couple of years. They may get there, but they'll have to beat some pretty good teams from region 3 to do it.
  7. Last nights game was a good one. Sequatchie has nothing to be ashamed of, though I know that doesn't take the sting out of the loss. Sequatchie is my second favorite team, and I really hope to see you all at the "BORO. A few of us from Central made the trip to watch 7AA district tournament and got to see Upperman play. Sequatchie will match up real well with them. I think that Upperman's and Sequatchie's post will be about equals. I think that Sequatchie will have them out gunned at the perimeter though. They didn't go very deep into the bench, only 1 or 2 subs all night, and struggled some when the pace wore them down, though I didn't see any 7AA teams that really liked to run-n-gun. Sequatchie plays the same level that they did against Central and they should be packing their bags Wednesday morning for the trip to MTSU. I wish you all the best of luck Saturday.
  8. I hate to hear that we didn't impress 3434, especially since Central had a bad night on offense, and still managed to double the margin of victory that Sequatchie had against Howard. We'll see if we can't impress you Wednesday night. Just be sure to budget your money well. You're going to need gas money for Saturday. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. Thanks. I've heard conflicting reports on these two players. Lots of luck, buc.
  10. I wouldn't say that Howard gave Central all that they wanted. At 70-49 and with Central emptying the bench with 2 minutes on the clock, I'd say Central could have handled a little more. Don't let the fact that the first half looked like "soft rocks in a pasture field" fool ya. That's not the team you're going to see Wednesday. What you saw was a poor shooting night against Howard. Central has had a couple, but never two in a row. The fact that Central played so bad, and still beat Howard is a good sign to me. Oh, Kylie had 17.
  11. Have you seen Stone and Austin-East play? I'm not questioning your prediction, it's just I don't know how to rank Austin-East. I know they got a couple of players back after Christmas break, but since then, they seem to have shown up for some games, and not for others. Just wondering if you were picking from personal knowledge, fan bias, or record comparison of some sort. Indian Chief, glad to hear your picking Sequatchie. I'm 4 behind you in the Big Ones, so this'll get me to within 3. lol
  12. So Indian Chief, what's your pick for tomorrow (Wednesday) night? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  13. I'm just going to say, Wednesday's game will be against two of the classiest programs in the state. I have the highest respect for Coach Barker and her team. And since both teams will be going to sub-state, I wish Sequatchie well this coming Saturday. So, for my predictions. Central wins and will host York Saturday, and Sequatchie will travel to Upperman. But, let me say, IF York or Sequatchie wins, there will be a very good chance for our region to send two teams to the 'BORO. I've travelled to see the District 7AA tournament games, as well as York vs Stone game. I personally think that Central should beat York or Upperman, home or away. Sequatchie should beat York home or away, and I'd pick Sequatchie over Upperman if they had the home court advantage, but it would be a tough win for Sequatchie at Upperman. So, personally, I've got to pull for Central and York. Only 28 more hours till tip off. Then we'll see. Should be a great game. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  14. I understand what you're saying. It's possible that there are 3 teams from 1 region that are among the top 8 in the state, but only 2 of those teams will get the chance to compete at the 'boro. I guess you could play consulation games at the region level like you do at the district level, and have 4 substate games with 1st place from region "A" playing 4th place from region "B" etc, ending up with 16 teams advancing to the state. But, with the TSSAA limiting the number of games played a year, and their past attempt to limit the number of teams from each class to 4, I don't see that happening. At this moment, the TSSAA is heading in the exact opposite direction from where you are wanting them to go. But, then that's not exactly anything new, is it? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  15. Lots of luck on this. Just a few years back, the TSSAA wanted to cut the number of teams that make it to the state to 4. They were voted down by all the local reps, but then voted to only pay for the final four teams expenses in each class. TSSAA is trying to cut down the number of teams, not expand them. One of my gripes about SOS is the number of schools that play smaller schools with good records, ie. AAA vs A, this makes the AAA school look like they are playing some tough teams, when in fact, they are playing smaller schools. But, since I pull for an AA and want to play AAA schools, I'll say it's a mild gripe. Just an example. You get more credit for playing a 20-3 'A' team, then you do for playing a 17-6 AAA.
  16. I'm not trying to take anything from Sequatchie, but you have to give Sweetwater their props. They had the game won, if they just knew how to finish Sequatchie off. They had 11 and 40 with 4 fouls by the end of the third, but never use that to their advantage. If they had just fed the post, Sweetwater would have won that game. Either by drawing the foul against 11 or 40, or getting the easy shots against players that couldn't play tough defence. But, Sequatchie did recognize that 20 and 11 for Sweetwater had 4 and managed to draw the fifth foul on both of those players. That's the reason for the 16 pt win. It was tied up til they fouled out. It was a hard fought game on both teams part. Now, get the popcorn and get ready for a good game Wednesday. After all, this is where we all thought we'd be at this time. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  17. After looking, I'd say you are probably right. I would also say Giles is wrong. Though, Hillcrest hasn't reported many of their games, they seem to be a little better then I first thought. They'll host Gibson for the Sub-State. That'll be a tough game for Gibson. Good luck. Play good, cause with all this "WE'RE THE BEST", and "BEST DISTRICT IN THE STATE", I would love to draw you for the first round. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  18. It's hard to tell how good Sequatchie is. I know they played Cleveland to a 1 pt loss, but their DI players were not present for that game. They also, just beat Tellico by 7 points. But that score doesn't mean anything unless you know if the refs were calling the "Tellico Flop". For those that don't know what that is, it's where you drive into the lane, find an opponent, throw your body into that opponent while throwing the ball into the air, then flopping on the floor as if someone has just fouled the fool out of you. If the refs were "falling" for this, then 7 points ain't a bad win. In fact, your just lucky to get the "W". I guess we'll see more tonight. You going to the games. Red&Blue?
  19. I'm sure that you have a better idea of how the teams match up. I'm looking at it from 400 miles away. The main reason I chose the way I did, was just because of the way they finished in district play. If it makes you feel better, the Big Ones picked Gibson Co.
  20. Indian Chief, don't feel bad, Region 5 kick my prediction's in the can as well. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Here's mine for the Semi's. Region 1 Unicoi over Elizabethton South Green over Gatlinburg-Pittman Region 2 Seymour over Austin-East Stone Memorial over CAK Region 3 McMinn Central over Howard Sequatchie Co. over Sweetwater Region 4 Upperman over Livingston Academy York Institute over Station Camp Region 5 Hickman Co. over Giles Co. Marshall Co. over East Literature Region 6 Cheatam Co. over Creek Wood Bolivar over McNairy Central Region 7 Milan over Obion Co. Westview over Gibson Co. Region 8 Mitchell over B.T. Washington Oakhaven over Hillcrest/Treadwell winner
  21. I would agree that Sequatchie should win, but don't underestimate the Sweetwater girls. They don't quite, and they play a tough game. They don't have any real superstars on their team, but they play pretty good team ball. I think they'll play a pretty tough game, but like I said, Sequatchie should win.
