  1. Seymour may have beaten them early in the year, but Oak Ridge tied Farragut 3/12 1-1, so it seems that they may have gotten the kinks out of their issues. Alcoa is a good squad, who is somehow always up for this game. I think Akula went to Oak Ridge, so he may have a point to prove. I know that Oak Ridge doesn't want to lose again to them, so I think they will be ready. I'm predicting a 2-2 tie.
  2. I think Seymour will win, but Gibbs is the unknown; Coach Dave has wisely kept below radar, and might just surprise some. It has been said that he picked up some players due to new district rezoning, but from what school did he get them? Gibbs has had a history of giving team fits. I don't think Seymour will take them lightly, after the Bearden game, I think they will be looking for a strong showing. I think this will go one of two ways. Big victory for Seymour or a very close upset by Gibbs. I'm going to predict Seymour 5-2, though.
  3. Based on scrimmaging like opponents and the results of those games, wouldn't Alcoa have the edge? I know they are scrimmages, but I would think they would count for something. I think Alcoa knows that rankings wont win you any games. It actually could fire them up more by not getting ranked than in getting so. Ah, it's nice to be back on the boards! Good luck to all the teams kicking the official season off next week!
  4. Doug, so sorry to hear that you are out! That was a heck of a hit you took during the game! I heard that you had a somewhat good report from the docs yesterday and that they might use a bone stimulator on your clavicle. Just don't rush back into anything! You still have one more year to play! Plus, you can spend some of your time taking care of those fish that Jake and Christo got as locker pets yesterday! You know with those two, they will be dead within a week. Good win last night, boys, against Loudon. Just don't forget one important thing: you still need to have fun while you play, otherwise it is pointless. I didn't see a smile all night! Tell your grumpy old coach the same thing! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> (Just messing with you, Big G!) I liked Coach Days "Burger King" hat! Did he get that from the Morse brothers? Lastly, if all else fails, Doug, use what I put on your car. Maybe that will fix the problem! Lighten up guys, and enjoy. These are some of the best times of your lives. We all take each other way too seriously. Have a great day!
  5. Hey, what do I know?! Oh well. Good second half, CAK. Proud of the way you turned your play around. Just work on getting those shots off. Morristown West keeper made an INCREDIBLE save on Jake's volley! Keep shooting Jake, one of those will go in! How about tomorrow?! Doug, did you get my present I left on your car?
  6. Friday 28March 4:30pm Catholic vs Hendersonville 6:10pm West vs Baylor 7:50pm Maryville vs Gallatin 9:30pm Bearden vs CBHS 7pm CAK vs Morristown West @ CAK Some good games tonight! My predictions: Catholic over Hendersonville (fresh legs for Catholic and a strong offense will benefit the Irish) West over Baylor (This is West's year to shine) Maryville over Gallatin (Gallatin is not as strong this year as last season) Bearden over CBHS (This will be the game of the night, but I see Bearden pulling it out. Too strong in the midfield and up top) CAK's outcome will be determined by how well they recover from last night's game. They play on their home field (season opener) which is huge, but their legs are most likely tired. Fresh legs for Mo-West will be to West's advantage, and also they will be pumped and ready for the challenge.
  7. Been out of town for a while, so I missed the Stone game, but I am back now, and went to the Hendersonville game. I would agree with you, Big G, that the Hendersonville boys were HUGE! I don't know what they feed those boys, but it sure makes them big. I thought that CAK brought it to them in the first part of the first half, and had a couple of good looks at goal. The misclear my Hendersonville's keeper into CAK's forward went inches wide. Jake had 2 awesome volleys, which one clanged right off the crossbar. I think everyone in the stands thought it was a goal at first! Once Hendersonville settled down, they began a good attack, and moved the ball well. Their best opportunity came from a good flank attack, to a header that just cleared the crossbar. Hendersonville was tenatious at defense, especially #6 (which I think was Patrick Kelly) and their red headed defender. They also subbed alot more than CAK, and didn't lose much when they did. The second half was a little card happy, with 3 (I think) going to Hendersonville and one to CAK. I think one for for encroachment and one was for hard tackle? Not sure about the others. Christo needs to learn to keeps his arms down! CAK battled well until they ran out of steam with about 15 minutes left. They still played well defensively, but didn't really mount any attack. Overall, I think it bodes well for CAK to play a team of this caliber, and come out with a tie, as well as on paper, more chances on goal (shot counts always humor me, but that is a seperate thread). There are not too many teams in A/AA that have this much talent, size and agression that CAK will face until later in the season. As far as Hendersonville, I think you will see a different team tonight against Catholic. I think they were frustrated with the tie, fatigued by the bus ride, and will be ready and rocking tonight after a day off. This will be Catholic's first game, though, and Catholic is a TOP notch team as well. Should be a great game. On a side note, I thought that the player of the game for CAK was Philip Chesney. He is so powerful in the air, and won almost every 50-50 ball. He never slowed down, and always has the best attitude. Great job, Philip. Proud of you, man!
  8. I liken it to the superbowl winners being crowned "World Champions" and the baseball version championship being called the "World Series". I don't think there is anything wrong with being crowned National Champs, even if it is only several states. While it may be not a "true" national championship, it's also like CAK's state championships; they are the state champion, but of the schools that are in A/AA. Are they a "true" state champion? I think so. Are they THE state champion? You can't be sure unless you play the champions head to head (which would be fun, but isn't going to happen) There are rankings that do rank highschools in all divisions for all seasons in all states. I think studentsports.com does this (but not sure).
  9. From your complaints, it sounds like you guys lost the game! You won! Don't cheapen it by complaining about the refs or belittling the other team's goal. You guys have an amazing team that will get the recognition that it deserves. I believe that you all will come out on top in your district and give the other one a run for their money, I just hope that you guys continue to play (and post /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ) with the class that you have always held to a high standard.
  10. I actually didn't make it out to this one, so I can't give my "objective" perspective, but I wanted to say to sacrifice that there is nothing wrong with what you said above. If this gets some of the guys you didn't mention fired up, then isn't that the point? Get that passion flowing! I did get a good report from my insider, though... Heard some good things about the defense and that our outside midfielders know how to defend the posts on a corner kick! Well done and good discipline to stay there until your keeper releases you!
  11. See; this is the kind of reason I want to stay a mystery! Keep talking, Pimpsgonnatalk. They might not always agree with you, or me either for that matter, but that should not keep you or I from saying our piece! By the way, congrats on making captain, Lampost.
  12. Lampost, I just wanted to let you know that I will be there come rain or shine tomorrow. I'll give you a wave! I'll also make a prediction; if the rain comes like it is supposed to, I predict a nasty sloppy field, with not too much pretty soccer being played. I know it's not the kind of prediction that you might have been looking for. I don't know too much about Farragut this season yet, so it is hard to say what I think the score might be. Just make sure that both teams stay safe.
  13. While I take some satisfaction on your frustration, it is not my goal. My goal is to be a distant objective observer who has the ability to do so by remaining anonymous. If, by doing so, there is the benefit of driving you, Big Penguin, Big G and White Delight crazy, than that is just an added bonus. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Good luck in your game on Tuesday. I think that Farragut will play hard, but will try some different line ups and formations as he (Coach Culbreth) has in the past year's scrimmages. I think this will also be a good test for CAK's defense and goalie. Luke is a very good keeper who is benefitting from these scrimmages to get the flow of the game. I could tell in the Maryville scrimmage that he got a lot more confident as the game went on. I think this will happen more and more each game. I think that Zack will shine this year up top. Look for him to be scoring some clutch goals! So, don't worry about who I am. Just know that I am a fan, who would like to say it like I see it, and look forward to a great year of soccer around Knoxville and across the state!
  14. I prefer to be like Dins8 and remain anonymous! I will say that I know a lot more about you than you know about me. (say hello to miss Jernigan for me!) /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I am just a fan of Knoxville soccer who would like to remain objective. I think CAK will have a great year, but I also think that other teams will see an opening and go for the jugular.
  15. Well said Big Penguin. I don't think CAK minds losing to a good team. I also don't think Big G takes the score results of his scrimmages as the measuring stick. I liked Zack Propes playing up top. He did amazing. It was a fun game to watch. Maryville was a great physical team (just ask Jake Ragland!) but it was just too dang cold. I am ready for spring!!!
  16. Regardless of the district seeding, I think Alcoa is the best team out of the 3. Coach Gorman has done a fantastic job in scheduling tough opponents, as well as winning some that no one gave them a chance in doing (Oak Ridge). Now saying that, some of the outcomes of their games are a bit suprising. I would not have expected them to lose to Carter in season, or to tie Seymour, but they did. Alcoa has the best keeper of the bunch, but he will be sorely matched if his defense doesn't keep Mark from shooting. I have not seen Carter play, but I know that teams only think that Mark IS the team. Even when teams try and double team him, he still seems to find the back of the net. Seymour is in a good spot. Winning regular season district put them out of a really tough semi finals that will send a good team home. Seymour shouldn't have a problem with Gibbs (though I never would have thought that Kingston would have gone to PKs with Anderson County either) so nothing is guaranteed. They are doing themselves no favors in talking smack on Coach T. I know you are trying to defend the young man who held out his jersey to Carter's bench, but imagine if Mark did that to your bench after he scored. I think you would be spitting mad about that! Let your game do the talking. IF Carter beats Alcoa tonight (which I don't think will happen) it will be a very rough final with Carter and Seymour. I hope that you have good refs lined up. Good luck to all teams involved. I predict: Alcoa 3 Carter 2 Seymour 4 Gibbs 0

    Rankings Final

From an outsiders view I think both Seymour and Carter's schedule could use a boost: Seymour's opponents have a 51-68-7 record. Carter's opponents have a 36-62-9 record. Seymour does have a tie with a very quality South Doyle squad, tied Alcoa and beat Carter (earning them #1 seed in their district). I would be very suprised if Seymour didn't end up in the district finals. Carter has an outstanding forward in Mark, and were able to beat Alcoa (something Seymour did not do) but will most likely face Alcoa in the district semi finals. I think they have "more than Mark" despite what Seymour fans think. It should be a great game! 3 good teams in this district, that seem very even. Alcoa's tough schedule (their opponents had a record of 92-80-13) will pay off, I think. I would imagine it will be Alcoa Seymour in the finals, but Carter has the ability to throw a monkey wrench in that idea, so we'll see.
  18. My guess is that as Catholic is up 3-0 with 15 minutes left, the coach probably pulled some of his starters for risk of injury (with districts coming up). They get one goal back, and you probably don't sweat it. Two and you start thinking about putting some of your guys back in... 3 and its over. I am sure it was frustrating, but on the whole scale of things, probably a good lesson to be learned from it going into districts. Any of those 3 goals that West scored from throw ins?
  19. Ha Ha! Yeah, but 3-4 aint too shabby, especially getting the score right on 2 of them. Not so flattering picture of the young Pifer lad in the paper today... rather humorous. Good luck in districts!
  20. Thanks, but more like beginner's luck. 2 for 2 on winners. I think the Catholic game is Wednesday, so we'll see if the luck holds. Good luck vs. Farragut!
  21. I have been reading for a while, and just registered, so please don't ambush me if you disagree with my opinions /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Bearden vs. Webb: Webb is a strong team, but I don't think the Bearden train can be derailed right now. I see Bearden winning 1-0 CAK vs. Farragut: Great matchup! I am not going to miss this one. I heard it was going to be on TV, too (I think). CAK seems to have a steady defense with some great midfield possession. I heard that the Pifer kid was coming back this week, but I don't know where he is playing. Farragut has 2 of the best forwards I have seen, and plays a very similar type of soccer game that CAK does, but I think CAK can do well against them. I actually am going to call a 1-1 tie. Oak Ridge vs. Maryville: I have seen both teams play, and I think that Maryville has a better squad. I predict 2-0 Maryville. Catholic vs. West: If Catholic can stop the "death throw-in", I forsee Catholic winning 1-0. They are playing some great soccer right now. West has an outstanding team, but I think they will be even better next year! Sorry if that offends anyone. Just stating my opinions.
  22. Won't you most likely have to play them at regions or sectionals? You'll get your chance to earn all the respect you want.
