  1. columbia dominated nearly the entire game tonight and deserved their 2-1 win over shelbyville. columbia scored 2 unanswered first half goals in nearly complete domination. shelbyville began the second half more inspired and pulled one back within the first 15 min. however columbia was able to ride out a late push by shelbyville to advance. cartmell was great in goal for columbia, with the only goal he allowed being a perfectly struck shot from a close angle, nothing he could have done. good luck lions against tullahoma thursday
  2. i played against gordon last night and although 3 of his goals were fortunate he was in the right place so i will give him that, he has a knack of bein where he needs to be, didnt know he was only a soph.....his season will pry end against columbia early this week
  3. in our game last night giles co scored an own goal, the ball hit pry 5 giles co players inside the 6 without any pressure being put on, almost like watching pingpong
  4. giles co played a good game too but i think we(lawrence co) deserved the win and dont blame calls on the ref for the way the game turned out. on giles co 2nd goal the side ref was raising her flag for a giles co foul on the other end then giles went down and scored immediately. however the indirect kick call was completely blown to begin with and the reversal was the right call. the shot didnt just glance off the keep and wasnt hard to see, but the keep attempted to save it and got nearly both arms completely on the ball before it went in the net, hard to say it wasnt a deserved goal
  5. anybody in 8aaa know the overall standings going into district
  6. didnt think that tullahoma could beat columbia but they proved me wrong, must have made some major improvement from earlier in the season
  7. details on the game? goal scorer, how each team played, etc
  8. columbia in my opinion is a far better team than tullahoma, having already played both teams, columbias defence is stout and should be able to handle the tullahoma attacks, however tullahoma's defence is far weaker so i think columbia should open them up a few times, wish i could see the game
  9. i just read on soccernet that fifa president sepp blatter is putting forward a motion to scrap draws altogether, using a penalty shootout as a final decider. what does everything think about draws and should they remain in the game? my personal opinion is that draws have always been a unique part of the game(in season or league games, not tournaments) and i would hate to see draws be taken away. thoughts???
  10. yea i think milan should definitely make state and win it, in fact they were champions of europe last year and nearly unbeaten in italy right now, doesnt get much better than that
  11. just wondering how the game went w/the score 1-0.
  12. why are all these ppl even posting in this thread if they are just gonna say they dont like the posts, just dont read them ok
  13. giles co was supposed to play lawrence co last week in what is usually a heated rivalry, a game which giles co would most likely lose in, considering they were handled by lawrence co in preseason
  14. soccer is getting bigger in the us, but slowly....example using the championsworld tours of this and last summer. with teams like manchester united, chelsea, ac milan, roma, celtic, barcelona, championsworld obviously had enough confidence in americans to bring those teams here and know that the stands will be the full....after watching manchester united play juventus in new york last summer and the mass excitement that took over that entire city, it is obvious that good soccer is well appreciated in america, it wll become much bigger some day if the quality in play in the mls becomes merely close to that of europe
  15. seeing the kind of athlete that thierry henry is, and how scared every other player on the planet is to see him coming at them one on one, i would definitely put henry up against any athlete you could throw at him, actually id pry take half the ppl in the premiership against any football player
  16. franklin co is a pretty good team, very physical like usual and can break quickly.....they can be beaten w/through balls the wings making runs, they beat us (lawrence co) 2-0, first goal was an unstoppable rocket off the inside of the post but the second was a joke because the player was atleast 10 yds offside, our keeper saved a long shot and the goal scorer was standing right beside him when he saved it, clearly 10 yds off, but they are a good team
  17. i think im right in sayin that shelbyville lost most if not all of their starters from last year, losing that many quality players has to have an impact on their team, they could have had a great jv team last year i really dont know much about them either
  18. i agree that wayne co has overstayed their welcome, maybe they will shut up after our game wit them tomorrow
  19. marshall co lost to lawrence co 6-0, 2 decent players and a bunch of pushovers
  20. my comment on columbias defence was more of a bag on our offense and midfield for not even testing them....after we beat them the first game of last season, they obviously changed something with their game and are a really good team, u dont finish as good as they did last year w/out bein solid, hope we get another chance to play them again
  21. central should do really well this year, after finishing top 4 in the state last year and returning a lot of their main players.....i play for lawrence co and they demolished us at home earlier this week, we did have 2 starting midfielders out due to suspension but columbia still impressed, hard to find a weak link except maybe their defence but we didnt test it enough to really find out
  22. lawrence co beat loretto 8-0 tonight.....loretto is a new program and it shows, but they should improve as the season goes on
  23. we should get a lil bit better picture about 8aaa after we play columbia central to open the district, it should be a good game with columbia playin hard, considering we (lawrence co) were the only team in teh district season to beat them
  24. i made the original post on this topic and decided on a pair of diadora leggaras, ive only had them a few days but they are hands down the best ive played with, good control on wet ground
  25. i play for lawrence co and look forward to the giles co game every season, its a game of pride to us....we should be pretty tough this season, we better be keeping 8 of 11 starters from last season
