  1. How is it that it seems the only team that can find a discrepency in eligibility is Glencliff.... no other team has even complained or questioned any team's players. To me it is strange that the only team to point out anything is a team that cannot win. Is it sour grapes? or is it misery loves company.. It seems that they only go after teams that stand a really good chance of winning championship that year. I will stand by the TSSAA rulings, but, it begs to question the Ethics of a organization that takes transfers, and has to sign off on them to allow a mistake of this magnitude and also why wait until the second to last game of the season to point this issue out... which effectively elimanates the entire season for a good group of players. The senior players of this team will not get another shot at their senior year... Every higher education institution that has been looking at these players and their stats for these games will no longer matter.. Why is it that the students have to suffer for a clerical error? I understand that eligibility rules is for the safety of the player and also to keep order and good sportsmanship within the high schools, but, what does it say to the player, when you have a season that could have the best season of their lives, erased due to a clerical error. What does this tell our kids? You can work hard, play with good sportmanship, win the game, and lose the season... The players at HLHS are among the most honorable I have ever seen... The coaches as well... These kids are going to be devastated by this "clerical error". I personally would call to task TSSAA to verify all transfers and eligibilty prior to the beginning of the season. If not then at least by the third game. SInce most region play does not begin truly until the second half of the season. The TSSAA charges each student when they are old enough to be thinking of playing any sport in college, to determine if the are eligible to play. If they want to charge a student they need to do so their freshman year and do a better job of verifying eligibility during high school and beyond.
  2. TSSAA is responsible for checking all players prior to the beginning of a season... and they miss a player it is their fault not the schools. When they check the computer and it tells them that the student in question is eligible then shouldnt that be enough for the coaches to go on... I could see possibly punishing the player... but not the entire team... look at his play for the entire season... erase any games that he made a score saving tackle, take that tackle away and go on from there... but I feel like this problem was not Hunter's Lane but a problem with the TSSAA.
  3. My question is if he hasnt played for 5 year... he did sit out a year... doesnt that still count as 4 years of eligibility??? What does glencliff do... wait until they get their butts kicked and then run around checking everything on everysingle player. I have heard of poor sportsmanship but this takes it to an extreme.....
  4. As a parent of a Hunter's Lane player I have a couple of questions.... What is considered reasonable research into the players. If the computer listed as eligble... do the coaches not have a right to play that player as eligble? Also a player has 4 years of eligibility. If he sat out one year, then he has only played for 4 years... thus he would be considered eligible. Wouldnt it be prudent to let the team know what is going on instead of them having to find out through gossip and here on Coach T? This whole thing smells like Glencliff can't win on the field so they have to play dirty and always try and bring somebody down with underhanded garbage. Friday night it turned into a nasty game... They were getting their butts whipped on the field and so they started playing dirty.... hitting, pushing, shoving, coaches cussing out the refs with no consequences, late hits that weren't called. Holding that wasnt called, clipping that wasnt called.... I mean it just turned into a really nasty game... They still lost..... 35-0 but, does the blame lay on a coach that apparently cant handle his team, or on a team with no discipline and cant handle themselves on the field. I guess I feel like if the coach's did a reasonable job of verifying eligibility and the computer was incorrect, why should the entire team have to suffer. To me, if they did everything reasonable to verify eligibility then they shouldnt have to suffer the consequences like that.
  5. In looking through past posts I think alot of people have forgotten that with football it is any given day. The teams that everyone thinks will be a cakewalk can win games. I know that odds are if a team hasnt won a game that they won't but the whole point it, it could happen. I think that no team should just assume that they are going to win... I know that it takes alot of factors to work together but it has happened. The old saying was "Any given Sunday any team could win". I think that holds true for high school sports as well. I think that there should be no game that is deemed Unimportant.
  6. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Wisdom is not the only running back for Hunter's Lane, Yes he is a good runner but there are other players that can handle the position as well, I say hunter's lane all the way... I have heard that Gallatin had lost a lot of players last year so we shall see... I think its going to be an interesting game.
  7. Ya know what, it may have been a comedy of errors, but there was also alot of good plays, tough defense on both sides and some great ball handling and play calling. Apparently not everyone sees just the bad side of what a team does.... I think HlHs did a great job on Friday I am very proud of them...
  8. I would like to give some names of players to be watching out for this year Just wonder if anyone has ever heard of them?? Senior Sean Richardson: Cornerback Senior Tim Clay: Runningback Junior Terry Ezell: Fullback, Middle Linebacker Junior Quinton Robinson : Tackle: offense and Defense These kids are doing great out there with Hunter's lane and deserve some respect and acknowledgement
  9. GO HUNTER"S LANE I am very proud of the Hunter's Lane football team this year. They have alot of talent and the heart to go all the way. I hope that the doubters sit back and look at where the school is today. In their resounding victory over Whites Creek last week, they showed that with team work and perseverance that anything can be accomplished. They have many players who desire to work as a team and I believe that coach campbell, with the little things that he has done to make the team work as a team has payed off. Keep up the good work Warriors and I am definitely behind you all the way MomlovesFootball
  10. I agree completely. I think that whichever player will benefit the team the most should be the one playing regardless of what grade in school they are in.
  11. Actually, for the first thing... I would never say anything against a coach within my child's hearing... and no my son did not get beat out by a senior. My son is second/first string fullback... depending on the team we are playing and what the situation is. I do know about coaching, as I myself have done so. I am not talking specifically about any coach or any player but the situations I have seen in the past. I am proud of my son no matter where or when he plays if he does... I dont go to the coaches about playing time... that to me is taboo... my son is supposed to be growing up to be a man and if he doesnt feel he is getting the playing time that he thinks he deserves that is up to him... and he needs to deal with it. I am just speaking generally. I truly believe in the concept of team. There is no I in team and there are 11 players on a team on the field at one time.... contrary to popular opinion, no matter how talented one player is ... he doesnt make the team by himself. I apologize if I stepped on any toes, but I was just curious to see if anyone else felt the way I do. It is important for seniors to play so that they can be seen, but, if it is more beneficial to the TEAM to play an underclassman, then that is what needs to be done.
  12. I would like to get an opinion about a very controversial subject at my house and around my side of town... Is it fair to play a player because he is a senior even if there is a better player as an underclassman. I know at some of the high schools seniors (even though some are first year players and don't have clue as to what is going on) will be started instead of a sophomore or junior that is a talented player. I think that if a senior has a chance at an athletic scholarship then by all means let them play, but why sacrifice the rest of the game with a senior that doesn't have a clue. I feel like there are sophomore's and Juniors that work harder, give everything they have to a game or practice for that matter and are told because such and such is a senior he will be starting.... I just don't think thats fair. Now, I don't wanna get a fight started and I do know that every child has a right to play, but....
  13. I really dont know the issues between public and private schools. But, I do know that in alot of instances you have an athlete that is a so so player... he/she goes to a private school.... and bingo.... they are the star of the team.... I have seen it in many instances.....
  14. I personally think that Hunter's Lane is highly undersestimated. Coming off of a 2-8 season a year ago to making it to the third round of playoffs is a big deal. Hunter's Lane has alot of talent and alot of class. Having been a football mom for the last 6 years, I have seen Hunter's Lane do a complete 180. The team has class, tenacity and heart. I have been there through the tough times and also the not so tough. I look for HLHS to go all the way this year. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
