  1. Just wanna point out OC was leading 50-10 going into the fourth quarter, and the subs gave up 20 late points. Scored 36 points in the third quarter.
  2. If you think Rossview is athletic....you're about to be amazed.
  3. I was only pointing out the truth about the statement "OC has yet to play a fast defence like westview has this year". I didn't say anything about the quality of their play. So thanks for your random assessment of coaching. "uncoached" Ripley still has a good deal more speed than Westview. So don't bank on that being the difference in Westview's favor.
  4. Ripley's defense is twice as fast as Westview's.
  5. Coach Jackson sends players to college. Trust me, good players want the chance to really shine and go to the next level. Coach J outworks all the coaches in this area on going the extra step to get his kids looked at by the level of school they deserve.
  6. If this is the answer then why weren't we good defensively when Bowling was at OC? Outside of Savion Hayslett we where down right terrible on defense a couple of those years.
  7. You guys need to open your eyes. OC dominated Crockett and lost the game in the end and that one hurt. Played well against a team in which they were severally out manned and made it close against Sikeston. Then played poorly against a team that they were out manned against in Cape Central the results show what happens. OC's three losses are to opponents that have a combined record of 9-0. Crockett is about the best in this area and those two Missouri would mop up nearly any team in this area. Get down if you choose but OC can very possibly still run the table.
  8. I'm a run first guy don't take me wrong. Ball control and controlling the tempo of the game are very important. On the flip side though the tempo of a no huddle spread offense dictates the game in a similar fashion because pushing the tempo exhausts a defense.(think run and gun basketball) If you watch closely early in the year many teams facing OC will struggle with cramps.(usually D-lineman) in an a division where each school is generally not going to have a stable of huge kids the drop off between starting dl and their backups is a big deal. Also it dictates other teams play calling if you can score quickly. You put up 20 or so points early in the game on a ball control offense what do they do? Their tempo then works against them. I agree Offensive balance is a defensive coordinators nightmare. Passing the ball is just a great equalizer for opposing teams at this level to have to prepare for if you can do it well. Also unless your a good deal more talented than your opposition the ability to throw the ball is essential to winning a championship because at some point you will have to deal with negative plays to convert third downs which one dimensional running teams struggle with if you have a a negative play on first or second down in the double wing running sally counter only carries you so far. To win championships at some point you have to win from behind. I'm not sure which Nebraska teams you are talking about but I do know that they really started to succeed offensively when Tom Osbourne implemented a balanced I and continued then later with an option attack based focus. But who doesn't love the option attack when you can consistently recruit a Tommie Frazier or Turner Gill. Anyways I am excited to see OC and Henry Co get after it. I heard Henry co and Milan tied 3-3 in a scrimmage.
  9. Why is running the ball more important that passing in a league where everyone runs and no one throws? Teams can't defend the pass and you'll see as OC rolls over people this year throwing the ball. Don't worry they'll do plenty of running too. And maybe you can run exclusively in 1a football, but I've never seen a real team win exclusively with the run but I have with the pass ala Texas Tech.
  10. Saying that UC is going to score more points than Crockett County is very questionable to me. Get ready for some Crow
  11. Your right. OC's offense would have walked on the field ran the ball 1 time to get it on the proper hash. Ran a vertical pass to get within the ten and run a running play to punch it in. 3 and off the field with another touchdown. Time of possession with 9 mins would be logical because they could have scored so quickly .... go ahead and run the clock off after your down big. The deciding factor in a real game would have been OC could score quickly from anywhere on the field while Huntington had to grind it. It would be easy to take away the big play when the best big yardage play in your playbook is toss sweep, sally, and criss cross. Now I can see it being a shootout but trying to make a case that there was a chance in stopping OC's offense is ridiculous. Heck one time OC was backed up to 3rd and 25 due to consecutive penalties and guess what they still made it...If you can't stop someone on 3rd and 25 pack it up your not stopping the team. But seriously we are looking way to far into a scrimmage...and there are obvious bias from both sides.
  12. Any play that Haskins pulled the ball on a read resulted in ATLEAST ten yards. So three and outs none, we were never in a punting situation and could have likely scored everytime we had the ball without our passing game at all. But we tried to score within our 10 play limits. I do realize Huntington had young guys on the field and some starters out with baseball. But nevertheless there wasn't any stopping the OC Offense. That could also be said for the Huntington O. The Rebel D did start to step up at the end of the game but it was too late. Honestly both defenses could have done much better but both sides ran a very base very vanilla defense. OC could have slanted there d-line to take away some counter and misdirection plays and Huntington could have brought pressure to try to force Haskins to throw early. But everyone with sense knows you don't show a whole lot in your spring games. Especially on UTM's turf with Westview players and coaches watching when we both play them this year /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />. I wish the best to the Huntington players and coaches. I hope you take it to UC and make a trip to the burro and rep the west in 1A football.
  13. Huntingdon will be pretty strong in 1a football. They did well offensively, but in a real game I'm fairly certain OC would have took the win. The whole time the Obion Central offense was stopped was when they ran out of there 10 plays on the first series but they easily made it to the red zone. Haskins had all day to throw no pressure from the Huntingdon defense. The Obion D was sloppy in the beginning but all they have faced so far is the OC offense so they were slow to butt up to the run heavy double wing. In the end you could tell the d was kicking it up with the 3 consecutive stops on the 1 foot line. On the last series Huntington ran 16 plays. So the 1's score should really be 3-3 maybe 4-3 obion considering there 2's scored against Huntington's 1d or atleast their d-line didn't come out. All in all it was a good experience for both teams to play in that atmosphere and both showed effort. Go Rebels.
  14. True. You got what I was saying about reading and running the veer, the other two responses didn't....my point wasn't that colton had the ball a lot. They'll have to use the system like it was used here to be successful offensively this year. Also are there really ten returning starters on defense? Losing two corners would put you at 9 unless they weren't starters. Plus isn't the Big kid at center playing both ways now? If so and he previously did not then wouldn't that be 8?
  15. Yeah, Union City beat Northside in the spring. Who had just hired a new coach who proceeded to resign after spring practice. I'm sure he was committed and their schemes where in place. How can you love the way Union City ran the Veer last year? They barely read it if they did at all. If you know anything about the scheme of the veer and watched Union City play very much its clear it was a junior high version of what Bowling usually runs. They simply banked on getting their fast kid outside who out athleted the bulk of everyone they played(what a poster in another thread called sisters of the poor). The majority of the time it looked like it was a sideline called pull or give. Or it was a called give and they would check away from the strength. Anyways now you don't have speed at Quarterback. Colton or the physical attribute. So either they do a better job of actually running the read triple option and be mediocre offensivly or don't and be awful. Luckily you return your best player Ronnie Fair and have a pretty good d-line in general which will win you some games in 1a football. UC should be a pretty good team defensivly against teams who can't throw the football or teams with no balance. And looking at their scheldule will win some ball games. But seriously the kool-aid is a littler sweeter and thicker than what this team warrants. Of course I could be wrong /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" , I'll guess we'll see come fall.
