I got ya. I am not a South person but did hope they could pull this out. Phillips is impressive you have to say though. Maryville is just very explosive. To many D-1 weapons.

17 carries 113 yards and 2 tds doesnt sound like much of a pounding to me but I will say that Maryville is powerful for sure.

That would be Cloudland about 5 or 6 years ago. Smallest school in the state if I am not mistaken. I have seen the dogs and have not seen South Pittsburg but let me tell you, it will take a good team to beat Hampton. You may have it down there but I have never seen a better team put on the field at Hampton. Good luck to both teams but most of all GO DOGS!!!!!!!!

From a Johnson County fan, I know that the QB did something to his ankle but I am not sure how bad. He came back in but wasnt very mobile but still threw well. I was told he was getting it xrayed to be safe so not sure of that outcome. Looked like a sprain to me. I also believe one of their receivers got his leg broke but to be honest I didnt see it. I believe it happened on their sideline. As for the game, I have seen both teams. West is good but based solely on me seeing both teams if South comes to play (which they havent been lately) they should take this game fairly easy. One thing is for sure. If South wants to spot West 21 they will lose. West will put some points on the board against the South D because they are athletic. I see the game being South 35-17. By the way, you people at West and East are very lucky to have that field. I dont think our mountain boys knew what to think. We usually throw some extra rocks on ours I believe sometimes. Very nice.

Well from my end, I admit I love talking smack in a nice way and also enjoy watching the people that have been your enemies all year side up with you and you with them. I enjoyed the last week and tip my hat to all the winners. I will say at one point it looked possible that Mo East was coming to Johnson County for round 2. I dont think anyone would have ever thought that. Truthfully and without talking smack I believe these two conference were very equal. South and Greeneville have rose to the top but this year there was alot of equality. Good luck to all remaining teams

This was a lot closer game than that final indicates. I personally am really proud of our team. We gave it up twice on downs late in the game deep in our territory that kind of ran it up but heck we were trying to win. We just couldnt catch a break in the second half and it was close enough to where you can think of a couple of plays that if they had gone the other way would have been game changers (pass inter., etc.), Mo West is a good team and they do have good size. I hope your receiver and QB are both ok. I heard the receivers leg was broke and if this is fact I really hate this for the kid. JC players have nothing to hang their heads about. You have raised your level in the last three years and are playing at a higher level. Seniors, you have done a great job in laying the foundation for a strong program. Best of luck in the future. Coaches, I give you credit for continuing to improve. Now for the guys coming back next year (I believe it is a ton) get in the weight room and be even more prepared. We will never be lucky enough to dress 100 guys and you will always go both ways if you can play. Conditioning is the key. I look forward to next season and believe we can take this program even higher. Congrats to all and thanks for giving me something to get excited about for the last 3 months.

Busted!!! HA!!! I was trying to be nice. A sweep by the MLC wont shock me a bit. That ought to get everyone fired back up!!!

You nailed it on this one. They are all over the map from game to game. They are big up front and can run it with consistency when they come to play. The QB has very good speed. The one that shocked Johnson County (we beat them but it was a game) is #5. The paper said he is a sophmore and he is somebody that can hurt you. I wasnt impressed with their passing game. In a nutshell, they have good size, fair speed, and if they get the opportunity they had several kids that will knock the stuffing out of you. All kidding aside, Greeneville should win but I also believe this is the most parity there has been between these two conference in a long time. The only game I feel sure about is South (I know you guys dont want to hear that) and I believe the rest are toss ups.

I believe this is his 11th year but may be off a little. I believe he is the most seniored coach in the MLC. His record is also a stab but I believe it is around .500. I know the last couple of years have be much better with him sitting at 15-6 during that time including the playoff loss last year. The early years in AAAA were an adjustment and we actually just got competititve about 3 years ago. I think he had about 4 years in the AA division at the beginning where he had fair success. But then we jumped from AA to AAAA overnight. This is his teams third playoff appearance in a row and also our third straight trip to Morristown.

Don't worry about that. You had better worry about Sullivan East. The bulleye's might need to be on them. I am sure theirs is very focused on Greeneville. On top of that if Greeneville is lucky enough to ever see TN High I would hope Caps boy is on offense because the Greeneville D will see plenty of them when you cant move the ball.

I wont argue the last point but I think location on the map probably kills Johnson County and Unicoi. The schools played by them that are lower in class are from the old Watauga Conference and are basically scheduled due to the past and also to keep travel expense down. I will say that playing Happy Valley does nothing to help anyone at the 4A level for sure. I dont really buy the 2A argument but I will say as I was told once for complaining about the same thing in Johnson Counties case. You play the hand you are dealt and if it is 4A ball when it should be 3A or 2A so be it. Go knock heads and improve every week. Best of luck to both teams!!!

We did lose some good players last year but we are overall a little more balanced. One thing we have been is balanced on the offensive end this year (at times to much). I think this game will be close and hard hitting. If JC can get out to a lead I think it will make all the difference in the world. The depth advantage seems to go out the window when a team is playing from behind because they will keep their best out there all the time trying to catch up. If that is the case JC will win simply because they will matchup especially in the speed department. I expect an exciting game!!!

One point you are leaving out is that Greeneville just like Besty might be a 3A but they do get alot of kids playing there that would go to your county schools normally. I will also add that the 1A team that beat Johnson County has a great shot to win the state and still hasnt been beat. They would no doubt be a playoff team in the 5 Rivers or MLC in my opinion this year. You also forgot that SH shutout West and got drilled by South and beaten by TH High. We will all see come Friday I am sure if any of this really means crap.

I actually meant that as a positive in my mind. It would have been easy to take that game off completely but I am of the opinion that you try to win them all so you dont get rusty. Your statement above is correct on having to leave a few starters in the mix.

No one covers JC on the radio... The people up here get a replay on Saturday morning on WMCT. As far as fresh goes, I didnt see that just being honest. We played to win which was the right thing to do. We are big underdogs as we should be in this game but I think we have a shot. We dress around 40 so there are the numbers but we do have 15 to 20 that can play. West's princpal went to JC (and was a good player in B ball) so ask him if you are a West fan and wonder about how we play. I never new that until last week but I ask around and he was a player in the day.

Maybe Greeneville somewhat but dont take it wrong. Stopping him will be no easy task but I dont think he will run against TH as well as he has against other teams. His arm is the key in my opinion and agreed he has also done well with it.

From someone without a horse in the race but that has seen both teams: Both these teams are very good. In my opinion they are the teams to beat in Region 1 and 2. If Phillips has a good day passing it will spell trouble for the Vikings. I do not however think that South will be able to run the ball with much success against TH. On the other hand, TH will try to run it down South's throat and I do believe they will have some success at this. However in my opinion the key for TH in this game will be if they can complete 7 to 10 passes to keep the South D honest. Same story as it has been all season. If Phillips has a big game (over 100 yards rushing or 200 passing) South will win. If TH controls Phillips and the football they are good enough to win. This is a toss in my opinion with a slight edge going to South only because of Phillips. I know alot dont like to hear his name over and over but the truth is if you stop him you will stop South.

It is always tough to make the playoffs if you are Johnson County playing in the MLC. The last playoff win was at the AA level that you are speaking of and we actually had some dominate years at that level. Ever since getting moved to AAA (which JC still is) and actually playing AAAA to avoid travel it has been a tough road. The one thing I will say is that most are disappointed with our finish this year unlike last year when we finished 3rd which was the highest we ever had. Last year we came within inches of getting East. Your point is well taken about the numbers and it is tough for JC to avoid injuires,etc. with alot going both ways. But with that said, in the MLC and the playoffs we are always outmanned from the numbers. It is nothing new. JC will always play with heart and they will always hit. Those two are a given. You have a good point on the fresher players in the second half but as your points above mentioned I truely believe JC is hungry for a win and not just happy to be here again. Guess we will know in a couple of weeks just how hungry. Best of luck.

What a barn burner. By far the most exciting finish JC has been involved in for quite some time. Sometimes I am not sure how but we are finding a way to win and that is the most important thing. Great job on overcoming a lot of injuries (not only people that are out but it looked like we had several get banged up a little in the game) and getting the win.

Agreed 100%. I thought he was one of the ones that may be done. He will be a big help for sure. Glad to hear that.

Thanks for the reply headhunter.. As you know we are not deep and injuries kill us.. Are the two linebackers?? We have had a hard time with the run all year and if the two play there it may be trouble. I seen 33 get hurt and he seemed to be our guy at that position. I am worried about the run if our linebacker core is down....

Both of these schools do a good job in being competitive in the MLC. Consistency is hard to some by though. 2 or 3 good years then some tough times until the next cycle. Does anyone from JC have the exact injury report? I heard again yesterday that we lost 2 maybe 3 for the season that started on defense and I believe played alot on offense. If this is true we are coming up against a couple of tough teams because they both run all the time.

That is good news in some respect. I hate it for whoever is done for the season. Always hate to see that and hope he isnt a senior. If we can get the middle filled back up with healthy guys we should be fine. We struggled with stopping the run at Central and most of the yards were right up the gut so if we have 2 of the 3 back I think we are in really good shape.
