  1. I think Boone will have to play their hearts out to win but they will give it a game. REmember this senior class has given DB all they wanted for four years. This is the team that as freshmen sent Mr. Sensabaugh off the field twice. Not coming back the second time after getting hit so hard that he took his helmet and shoulder pads off and walked to the locker room. Don't think they don't want to prove what happened at South was a mistake and that last year was no fluke. On the picture, your angle is off and by your picture you are wrong about the score. The ball was in his left hand which is already in the end zone when the ball comes out. He stuck it over and then it came out. But this year is a new year and Boone will have to play over their heads to win. But DB better not count them out ahead of time.
  2. Be careful. It was East and they are at an all-time low. You got stuffed at the Jamboree and Boone did not even try. Who do you think you will beat to get in other than maybe Central and I'm not sure you can beat Central or Volunteer. You might go 2-8 or 1-9. East is as bad as I have seen.
  3. I would say he is talking about the two guys that are always there that are wanting to be Daniels agents. They have been at every game I have been at a lot of games Ans seem to talk to him and Edwards after the game.
  4. I can't believe that Edwards would risk the arm of the #1 2011 in the country by throwing him 146 pitches in a non-elimination game. Some say he threw almost 70 curve balls in the game. He had a good game of 18 K's but he also had 9 walks and 3 hbp's. I just don't see how you take a chance of pitching the kid that many pitches when he also pitched 34 in the game Saturday along with warming up for the 9 innings in 4 days. That is close to abuse. I hope it is worth the win for him risking a kid's health for a win.
  5. I would agree about short porch except I saw the ones this weekend at Dobyns Bennett and Cardinal Park. The first one at Cardinal Park was a bomb to left center that cleared lights. The kid can hit and is a great kid also.
  6. I believe the top contenders will be one of his assistants, probably Josh Warner or Rob Hoover from Boone whose dad used to coach at DB and is still a teacher there. Any other ideas on who will replace him? He will retire as the winningest coach in TN. The only catch is that he has gone 0-2 since announcing his retirement. Many hoped he would get to 900 wins this year but I don't think it will happen now.

    Big 8 Baseball

Anyone know standings as of today.
  8. Sorry to tell you but all of these guys are juniors and were throwing upper 80s and low 90s last year and as freshmen. Low 80s is not impressive even for a sophomore.

This conference is as weird as I have ever seen in baseball. Science Hill beats THS and Crockett then loses to Boone with a freshman pitching 7 innings for Boone. Boone beats DB and SH but loses to Volunteer. THS goes on a terror then loses to Central. Tourney will be will to day the least.
  10. Great job for Phillip. Again, I hope all three succeed. I was there the last time the three were in the same game. Phillip won a 2-1 game with only 3 hits between them. There were a bunch of k's. I wish UT would have recruited them hard and got all three. That would have been a staff to grow with. But oh well. I don't believe UT offered any of them. I know Phillip is going to Vandy and D-No and Connell have not decided.
  11. D-No had 13 k's against Tennessee High last night with 2 walks and 3 hits. Just read where Daniel hurt the same ankle that finished his football career. I'm sure Clint Freeman, a lefty headed to ETSU, will throw tonight for Crockett. Should be a great game.
  12. I don't know about the gun. I know he was consistently 88-90 last year and this fall he was low 90's by Perfect Game and college scouts I know. Either way, he is pitching well. So is D-No. I just don't know how the gun can change 6 mph in 1 year. I know he has had D1 consideration in football but that is not his future. He is a pitcher/1st baseman. I hope Nathan gets more consideration. I believe he is a D1 prospect as a catcher. He just needs to play with a better summer team to get more notoriety. Again, I have told everyone. The better the top players do the more it helps everyone. There are players that will be seen while they are watching the top players.
  13. I didn't attack DB. I support all of NET. Your comments just came across as putting down a good pitcher because he beat your boys. You said he did not hit the homeruns. I'm just saying the difference between Kevin and D-No and Phillip is the others have become baseball only players. Kevin is definitely a three sport player. According to some in the know, he is being recruited as a pitcher/1st baseman and also as a football player. Again, I'm just going on what your radio show said tonight. BTW, last year the DB faithful said they added 3 mph to the board. D-No hit 91 on the board and everyone said add 3 to it to be accurate. So is it add 3 or delete 3. If so, then Kyle was only at 83 by the radio and I know he is faster than that.
  14. Not Dad. I know dad was not there tonight because I saw him in town. I am going on what your radio announcers said on the radio and what someone at the game said. If any of this is wrong then your radio was wrong. They said what they were seeing. I know for a fact he hit two home runs this weekend. Sounds to me like you are a DB parent/alumni that is embarrassed that your boys got beat again by Boone. Football, basketball, and baseball all in the same year. What has happened to the mighty DB? there may be a new DB in NET. Again, I'm just going on the radio and fans that were there. If DB was the real deal as you want to assume you would be undefeated. Reality Check Please. I just think Kevin, D-No, and Phillip are great pitchers. I will say the same about D-No. I know he had a 14 strikeout game against Unicoi. But there is a difference.
  15. Connell pitched against Dobyns Bennett tonight. He won 2-0. He pitched complete game with 14 K's, 3 walks, and 3 hits. Hit 91 on numerous occasions on their radar and 93 on a scout's gun the same times. The difference between him and Pfeiffer and NOrris is he was all-conference in football and basketball and does not work on his game year round. He also hit 2 home runs at Oak Ridge this weekend in consecutive games. I thnk D-No is the elite of the three but is struggling going very long in games. His hitting is not as good as it has been. Again, I hope all three make it to the big show and we can all say they are from within 2 hours of each other. Interestingly they have never played together as a trio. Norris and Connell played together with the Jr. Toppers and played against Pfeiffer.
  16. You have to try out for the Team USA. If you will notice, the top players every year do not play for Team USA until college. The top players play for the top showcase teams. That is why many do not consider the Team USA as such an honor. They do not have the great players. Go back and check it out in past years about the Team USA 16U and 18U players versus top draft picks out of high school. Again, I'm not anti-either. But Pfeiffer will not be one of the top. I'm not convinced Norris will either unless he can prove he can go deep against great teams. So far, he has only pitched against the weaker teams. But like they are they are some of the best in the nation with Connell not being far behind. The one thing that Connell has is he can pitch a full game and be the same at the end as the beginning. His problem is he plays football, basketball, and baseball. Many are wondering what he will be able to do when he focuses just on baseball. He played quarterback and defensive end in football and then would go play baseball on Saturday and SUndays all fall. He went straight from basketball to baseball. Again, rather than trashing them. Let's just support them and hope them all the best.
  17. I won't disagree that they are close. Word on Norris is he can't go for a long time. Word on Pfeiffer is that he has topped out and has not progressed since 9th grade. Question on both is what can they do on the next level? Pfeiffer has not played same level of ball out of high school except the USA ball and many will argue that it is not equal to the showcase stuff that is played during the summer. I know that Perfect Game has a pretty good record of evaluating kids and they have Norris higher. Prove it different outside the Farragut University. I would say there are several of these that have been named that could win a state championship with the players that are behind Pfeiffer.
  18. Perfect Game has Norris hitting 95 this summer at WWBA in Atlanta and #1 ranked player in 2011 class. Connell hit 93 this fall at showcase. I did not say they ride it. Norris rode 89 last week and Connell rode 87 yesterday topping 89 with only 2 weeks throwing after basketball. I think both will be low to mid 90's this summer again. They both have developed some nasty stuff. I saw with my own eyes last year at Cardinal Park when they faced each other, both hit 92 on 3 different guns.
  19. Last night the game everyone was watching of Connell from Boone and Norris from Science Hill was rained out. The scouts were coming big time. The are both lefties and both have hit low to mid-90's. Norris hit 91 last week and Connell 89 in his first outing. It was going to be interesting but will have to wait a few weeks.
  20. Someone has to send it in and it has to be validated. It is usually updated at the end of each season. But again, someone has to send it in and it has to be proven.

    Big 8 Baseball

Looks like it could be an interesting year in the Big 8. Heard Freeman pitched well. Heard Boone pitched 2 freshmen and a senior who has not played high school. Science Hill pitched a sophomore. DB pitched a sophomore. Looks like it will come down to who can find pitching that will sustain them after the Big Dogs for each team. Connell and Freeman hitting homers. DB and South should be a good game tomorrow with THS and Central. This conference could be the last team standing. I do still think Crockett is the team to beat if they can get rid of their own evils. SHHS will be tough with DNo on the mound. DB is the unknown. Boone will be interesting when the basketball players get to being able to pitch. THS has Mullins and Cunningham but iffy pitching after that.

    Big 8 Baseball

Conference will be interesting after tonight. The season started much as I expected. Crockett plays good then blows it at the end. They have to find a way to finish the big games. They have a tendency to drop fly balls in the last inning. Happened twice last year against Boone I know and once to Science Hill. Norris pitched a great game through 4 innings then blew up in the fifth. That has been his tendency. He is known to not be able to pitch more than about 3 to 4 innings. Boone and Volunteer supposedly did not look good other than both pitched young pitchers. Volunteer pitched around Connell after his first hit they said. Tonight will be good with all the teams finally playing.

Noticed the paper said Boone had 8 players on their basketball team that play baseball. How will that affect them? They only had 2 players from last year that I remember and that was Connell and Chandley that both played basketball. See where Norris is rated top player in 2011 according to Perfect Game. Who will be the top pitchers in order? I say: Norris - didn't play basketball this year and should be ready Connell - played basketball and will take a few weeks to get in the groove. No experienced players behind him when he pitches. Freeman - should be consistent Marti - interesting to see if he can go a year without shoulder or arm problems Cunningham and Mullins at THS - consistent pitchers DB has several but very little varsity experience and that can be good and bad. Then I don't know. There are several that will be about even.
  24. No one accused the officials of cheating. I heard Boone just got outplayed. I just thought it was interesting if it was true. I have confirmed that the one official called both games and that it is interesting. Supposedly it was Knoxville officials that called region 1 championship.
  25. I heard from someone that went to the game that the officials were Knoxville officials. Is this true? If so, how do you get local officials at a sub-state game. I would think they would have to be outside officials. He said that one of them was the same official that called the Boone DB game last week.
