  1. Since interest is so one sided in this thread, and no interest in a WB/Farragut thread, can we start our yearly "discussion" a few days early?

  3. Wow, was not expecting Bearden to be in that bad of shape. Seemed their whole team was limping. Horton didn't dress, so they were struggling from the beginning. QB was very erratic ans they couldn't do much to protect him. De Long in and out of the game with some sort of leg injury. I almost felt sorry for them.......except its Bearden.
  4. I can recall a Farragut/Powell game in the 2007-2008 range, when Powell had an issue with their QB. If I remember correctly they moved a RB named Cruze? to QB, switched to the veer in one week, and ran all over Farragut. So, while the Owenby injury is tragic for the player, it need not mean the season is over for Powell. One players misfortune is another players opportunity.
  5. I doubt you'll see a blowout regardless of the talent differential. First, these Farragut/Bearden games are usually pretty tight games. Second, I doubt you'll see this Farragut team blow anyone out. They had a good blowout cooking against HVA and seemed to lose interest in the second half, and that game had huge implications as to whether future kids will be an Admiral, or a Hawk. Plus, no one told HVA they were supppsed to lay down in the second half. Bearden will fight to the end tomorrow night, so I hope Farragut builds up a big first half lead so they can hold on in the end.
  6. Bearden has played Farragut tough, and actually beat them, when Farragut has had far superior talent in the passed. I expect this week things to be the same. From what I've seen Bearden doesn't seem to be too diverse in their offense. I assume it is due to Horton's injuries. Can any Bearden people comment on Horton's status? I know he's been playing hurt, I'm just not sure what's wrong with him, and debilitating his injuries are.
  7. Kat, no one will ever label the Wildcat Nation as apathetic.
  8. Pines, you don't have to leave, just thicken up your skin. Tons of "has beens" and a few "never were's" patrol this sight looking for a post like yours to jump on. You ain't seen nothin until Farragut v Maryville week.
  9. Kat, not quite the same. 5 pages and we've hugged it out. When the fur is flying in an OR topic (like the OR v CC topic) it lasts 30+ pages.
  10. Heritage upset Farragut several years ago on Farragut's homecoming. I hope the coaches remind the kids about that.
  11. I agree, it was disappointing to see us go into a shell after the pick 6 early in the second half. I feel if you want your kids to respond you gotta get back up on the horse. The play calling in the second half was pitiful. No wonder the kids don't play with any confidence since the staff obviously doesn't have any confidence in the players. Our game mismanagement was obvious at the end when we got in the victory formation when it should have been obvious we wouldn't be able to run out the clock. Luckily it didn't cost us the game. Not sure the offensive staff is even watching the game.
  12. Congrats to Campbell Co. on a great, historic win. And thanks for for getting the Wildcat fans fired up. Nothing more entertaining than reading their comments when they turn on each other. Love it!
  13. I hope Farragut will open up their offense a little bit this week. Seems the las game they have gone into a shell. I love the sophomore RB (loved watching him last year tear it up as a freshman), however he will lose a lot of his effectiveness if we don't get better play from the qb spot. QB doesn't seem to be playing as well as last year, and they definitely don't run him as much as last year. After watching HVA struggle against an unimpressive KCHS team last week I can't help but think with an extra week to prepare Farragut wins this week big. Also like the dynamic that these schools are 10 minutes apart yet this will be their first meeting ever.
  14. Went to HVA last week since Farragut had an open date. HVA is very different than Farragut's first 5 opponents. HVA is void of "superstars". Going into last week I couldn't name a single HVA player. What I saw was a team that played hard, and possibly would have won against KCHS had HVA's QB not spent a big chunk of the first half on the sidelines after being injured. TE #48 and WR #47 (hope I didn't mix em up) are both playmakers. After 5 weeks of unmatched speed Farragut might finally face a team they can outrun. HVA is fairly simple on both O & D, which might be Farraguts downfall if they believe this week is a week to just show up.
  15. I guess Catholic has the recruiting machine cranked up now. At the rate they're pulling kids they won't have a problem winning quickly.
  16. Noticed that their freshman team Monday night only had 18 players. Somebody fell asleep at the recruiting wheel. They lost to Farragut 21-14, someone told me their freshman lost to Bearden as well.
  17. I think 10 out of 11 starters on offense are seniors. They don't do too much fancy stuff on offense, they just bring it every play, good solid run scheme. They're happy to take what you give them in the passing game. Wanna play tight they throw it over the top. Wanna play off they throw the hitch (which is liable to gain just as much yardage). Defensively they are super aggressive and depend on locking down the corners so their safeties can run the alleys and support the run. Whatever you do take care of the ball, as turnovers are usually taken to the house.
  18. I think Fulton would beat Alcoa, not so sure about Maryville. Fulton's skill guys are awesome. Not just speed kids, but hard down hill runners as well. QB can hurt you with his arm and his legs. Their pass rush is relentless as well. Farragut has a ton of holding penalties trying to keep them at bay.
  19. Fulton has crazy skill guys. I didn't think Farragut stood much chance of winning, but hoped they would be able to get something going. Tanner Thomas (#1) has a good night running the ball, but we coulsnt pass block Fulton's front.
  20. I think Farragut's only chance is to stay patient on offense, take what's given to them, and shorten the game as much as possible. From what I've seen of their QB I'm not sure this is possible. The Farragut QB seems the opposite. He constantly passes up the sure short pass for the homerun.
  21. Farragut dropped to 1500 when HVA was built, they have rebounded to around 1800 now with the yearly rezoning. With restrictions Knox Co puts on all its teams I doubt you will see a 6A team challenge for a state title.
  22. Not sure how much Quarles makes at Maryville, rumors abound, but he doesn't have to worry about job security. Plus, he might have to work his way up in college depending on what level he starts at.
  23. Don't worry, sit tight, Quarles has to retire eventually.
  24. Didn't Fulton have several kids sign with a small school in Ky a year or two ago? Maybe College of the Cumberlands, or something? Are those kids still up there?
  25. I heard that was well. The 8th grade team finally has a prototypical spread qb, and lots of hard nosed skill kids. What they lack, and the current freshman team lack, is the big olinemen we are used to having.
