  1. How tall is Hunter.. when i played him he was really short but that was a long time ago.
  2. When is the award winner announced?
  3. you wouldnt put Tavarres Jefferson or Gary Pope on this list
  4. I have not seen the MUS quarterback play so I reserve saying that one athlete is better than the other. Tavarres is one of the most athletic people i have known and i think it would be hard for Brunetti to surpass him but he may. I think that there is something else that should be taken into consideration for the winner. Heart. I played multiple sports with Tavarres and in my 14 years of athletics i have never met someone more competitive than he is. Last year when he broke his shoulder very early in the MBA game he still shouldered the load. It meant so much to him that we win that game not because of any distain for MBA (because he didnt go to school with lots of those guys or grow up in that area to understand how far back the tensions run) but he kept playing because he didnt want to quit on his team. During halftime he had to lie and say he was ok even though he knew he was not and he knew if he kept playing he may not play basketball that year. THAT WAS HIS JR YEAR and he cared that much for his teammates. He played the entire rest of the game with a broken shoulder and he still ran hard and put his head down. THat is tough and that is the leadership what the winner should be indicative of. I know that was last year but even this year he played on that sprained ankle. I have graduated and was not there but i can tell you that there was never a question in his mind whether he would play or not. I have seen so many instances of his incredible toughness and commitment to his team in other sports also. He never stops moving or trying his hardest on the basketball court either. I dont know who the better player is but i do think that the people who determine the winner need to know these things about T. There is nobody i would rather have on my team in this state than T. Coach Bowers used to say sometimes that "so and so" would be someone who he would want on his side in a fight. If i was faced with a fight a basketball game a football game or any other situation where heart and toughness shines through then i would pick Tavarres Jefferson. Good luck to whoever wins.
  5. I think that Ensworth is the favorite going into the game but BA will be a very tough opponent. Ensworth was very badly beaten in the previous two encounters, can they break BA's hold on them? How will Ensworth's game be changed by playing guys just as athletic?
  6. I know we are all on a football board and the topics pretaining to each school seem like a huge deal but remember it is highschool, and Ensworth is a private school which competes foremost in academics with the other schools. Ensworth did not obtain its reputation by bending the curriculum so some athletes could play ball. You shouldnt listen to "they" quite as much. That is not true at all. Ensworth's course outline for the sciences is a trimester. Its split into three instead of four. Bio Chem and Physics are covered in their individual third of the trimester. Having exams in march is more conducive to the trimester.
  7. As far as the game is concerned i really think ensworth will win this game if the players are healthy which i think they are. Last year deep in the season we were spread so thin by the time playoffs came around we made BA look like the Patriots. McCallie is a very good team with lots of athletic players (their QB and some Vandy signee). But Ensworth will make those defensive changes and hopefully will slow down McCallie
  8. FURTHERMORE.... I can empathize with you... He is from your town, you are mad because you see that he is being stolen and used for the benefit of others. You have made it very clear that you miss and care for him. Lets follow that logic.. see where we go. At this point he is at ensworth (i dont think he was taken by selfish people but you do) and there is nothing to change that. Why will his principal not sign the papers... could it be to spite the people that took him. I think that has something to do with it but if you love him so much then that love would overcome the spite and the principal (being an educated guy) would understand that the best thing for the kid would be to sign the papers and let him play.... So why has that not been done. Your not punishing the school as much as you are punishing him. Every EHS game i have been to he is walking on the sideline in his jersey doing as much as he can to help the team. He takes players he could dominate on the field water cause he cares for the team. He writes down plays as they are called and as he watches them executed by his team mates he seems like he may break the clip board cause he wants to play. HE WANTS TO PLAY. why not let him cause you love him.
  9. THE REASON ENSWORTH ENROLLED HIM WAS BECAUSE HE IS AN AWESOME FOOTBALL PLAYER. WE ALL KNOW THAT. THAT IS HOW SCHOLARSHIPS WORK. ENSWORTH IS ALLOWED TO OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS. What it seems you are not understanding is that ensworth is not "using" this kid. Ensworth has given him tutoring all summer like they do with all the kids at the school that need it. Poor kid is benefiting. How could he get trapped in such a horrible place? Oh the terrible vicissitudes of life which torments his soul!!!! WHYYY WHYYYYYY.????
  10. I dont think that its bad he posted that article at all. Of course it does not directly pertain to the EHS BGA game but to say that it "has nothing to do with anything" is not correct (IMO). Lots of people get on here and just talk about issues related to schools they know absolutely nothing about. A number of times i have seen fans from other regions request info about ensworth or mba. Guy found an interesting article and thought people may like to know since Ensworth is part of the topic. And he prefaced his post by saying he knew it had nothing to do with foot ball but it was interesting non the less. No need to jump down peoples throats. Ensworth, statistically, should win the game but that was also the case last year when BGA played them extremely close. Does anyone know condition of Orleans or what the injury was in the first place?
  11. Will Orleans be 100 percent? What exactly happened to him?
  12. To this point, after sifting through all the extraneous info on this board, it seems as if the "athlete" position is the most debatable. It also seems like there are a few front runners in Tavarres Jefferson, Brunetti, and maybe Wise. I dont know much about the award, I am assuming Juniors can also win the award but is that very likely. Hopefully we can talk about which players should be considered for the award because of their talent and leave the petty ranking arguments out of it.
  13. Kicker- Andrew Fletcher (mba) Back- Tavarres Jefferson (Ehs) Lineman- ? (Maybe Wesley Johnson)
  14. You may not have seen it because of the caliber of the teams they were playing. But I can almost guarente you that for Ryans next three games (Ensworth, MBA, BA) there will be a lot of players hitting the ground randomly on the field or after the whistle. From my experience and this is just my opinion, Father Ryan is the dirtiest team i have seen. I can not pass judgement on any other aspect of Ryan (maybe wrestling), but the football team was not respectable.
  15. The father ryan people have been relatively quite this year juxtaposed to last year where they thought ryan was gonna beat the New England Patriots to win the title of best team ever. I think Ensworth will win this game but it is gonna be a hard game to play because you know Ryan will bring the hat. (and the nuckles, late hits, illegal cut blocks and so on.). I hope we get a big lead and get the starters out of the game.
  16. Last years game against Ryan was demoralizing because of getting beaten and shut out after 14 quick points in the 1st. I think it will be a very high scoring game for ensworth. EHS has just get through with this game injury free.
  17. Wesley Tate is a better running back right now than Orleanes...... granted O is a year younger and will be better than Silver Tate. I am a big Ensworth fan but Wesley is very good, he is a perfect blend of T and O..... Mostly T ( tavarres). He has really quick feet and moves laterally very well but he is not very strong. Orleanes is a LOT harder to take down than Wesley. I say this from a experience standpoint. Tackling O in practice was harder than tackling Wesley in a game. Has Wesley gotten stronger? At this point and time he is better though.
  18. i dont claim to know much about other running back but i would think both of them would be top 5 in state.
  19. I would agree that MBA is the better team, but when you have as many athletes as BA you can beat anyone, just not consistently if they dont have the coaching. Coach Elliott and Redman have been there for half the season now and im sure the players are adjusting to their coaching ways. I still think MBA will win but it will be a hard win.
  20. i dont think there is much question here... yes they will
  21. if he played in SEC what position would it be? Little small for rb. What sport will he play?
  22. I looked on rivals again to see if T or O had any press or star raising and there is none.
  23. I am glad that people are not saying it was poorly officiated or some other excuse. MBA and EHS played very well and with the exception of a few pushes by both teams it was a very clean and intense hard hitting game. That game was not only great because of the stakes and history but also because it was high scoring fast paced game which worked in Ensworths favor because of their wide spread athleticism. MBA is fairly young as is EHS so it should continue to be competitive for years to come. Spencer Wise played a very good game as did Hooper Paty. MBA was very physical but they seemed to be getting ahead of themselves. Early on all they wanted to do was try and throw people on the ground which can be good but it was not the case tonight. Tavarres and Orleanes (who was dubbed by the announcer Double-O D) both had outstanding games. Orleanes showed a whole lot of speed and power trucking more than one defender. Tavarres is so elusive and quick, the MBA defenders simply couldn't get a hold on him. A lot of that can be attributed to the blocking. Mostly by the O-Line (which I think gained a lot of respect tonight) but also by receivers blocking down field. Really fun game to watch and a great atmosphere to be a part of. I do think the first match up was a better venue simply cause MBA stands accommodated more people, I think a lot of people were deterred from coming because of the seat shortage. Good game to both teams, it would be really wild if they face each other in the championship. Can MBA pick themselves up and beat BA?
