  1. After having a few days to let all this settle and consider how the awards went I am still disappointed in the fact that Sterling did not win the 5A award. I have said even from my first post that I was not taking anything away from the Wilks kid. There is no doubt that he is a good ball player. However, I am still convinced that there are more factors that played into him winning than just overall stats, character, and whatever else they supposedly use to determine this award. Sterling has unfortunately taking alot of unneccessary heat over sportmanship. He is a first class kid. He takes alot of heat because he is good at what he does and does it against all competition. Is he cocky? Yeah probably is, that is what makes almost all great athletes great, they all have a bit of cockiness to them. That is why they can perform at the level they do, especially when the game is on the line. However, he is also very humble. For as great as his stats were this year they could probably have been obscenely better. He sat out the second half of 2 ballgames and did not play in the 4th qtr of 3 others. He did all this without complaining one bit about stats or numbers. His TD total would have been even greater too except for the fact that Farragut would use the QB sneak inside the 1 yd line numerous times. So with all that said congrats to Wilks for winning the award. However, I am still amazed at the fact that anyone, taking all things into consideration, could not have voted Sterling as the 5A Mr Football. I hear everyone on here talking about how these are kids, which yes they are, maybe the voters need to start thinking about that too. After having a few days to let all this settle and consider how the awards went I am still disappointed in the fact that Sterling did not win the 5A award. 2. I do not know all wilkes stats except he had less than a 1000 yds receiving...but here are sterlings season stats ATTS - 342 Yards - 2738 Ave per Game - 211 TD's - 29 I will not take anything away from the Wilkes kid and I am not by any means trying to put down his season. However, there is no way you can say that he had a season anywhere close to what Sterling did. This award is suppose to be based on performance of the season not on who you signed with or where you are from or who you play for. Sterling had one of the top 5 seasons ever in the history of Tennessee high school football, including number 2 for single season rushing.
  3. If Wilkes won this award it has been made a joke. No offense to Wilkes but there is no way if you are giving this award out to the best back in 5A for 2007 and Andre Sterling does not win this award it is not right.
  4. Ronnie Carter has the ultimate say in a student/athletes eligibility. No one knows for sure why this kid, whoever he is, transferred to Farragut. There are a lot of possibilities no one has addressed and so no one should be starting any rumors they have no clue about. I am sure the Farragut coaching staff dotted all the i and crossed all the t's with the kid. So drop it and get ready to watch the ads win Friday night.
  5. Actually if the penalty occurs downfield the rusher or returned get credit for yardage to the spot of the penalty.....example if the ball is caught on his own 20 and returned to the end zone but there is a penalty that occurs at the 50 then the returner get credit for 30 yards on the return. (50-20=30). However, if the foul occurs at or behind the line of scrimmage according to NCAA stats rules book the rusher or returner is not credited with any attempt and therefore there is no minus yardage given to the returner/rusher. The play is nullified and only the penalty yardage is counted.
  6. 5A back should go to no one else but Andre Sterling of Farragut. He is be far and away the best running back in the state. His current numbers from the sentinel have him at 1448 yds and 19 tds in 7 games. Includes a 306 game against William Blount who has not had a 100 yd rusher in any other game.
  7. Sterling is officially the all-time leading rusher in Farragut history now.
