  1. Dang! Lighten up! I didn't bash the guy into the ground like ya'll are making it out to be.....this is crazy. All I was saying was that he does tend to run his mouth alot and it seems to reflect on the team. I have 8-10 of the boys at my house a week, and whenever coacht is mentioned, his name would come up and the boys just said that they wished he wouldn't give so much "inside" information. He has never said anything bad about any of our boys. I have never said he has. He and I have argued throughout this season on here, but when all is said and done, no hard feelings. I honestly have never even spoken to him. I just personally feel that he starts many unnessecary arguments on here, and it sometimes reflects negatively on cascade. But, my son is a senior, so from now on, I will just read the commentary and laugh......As for my son playing injured and sick. He was cleared to play by an ortho with his broken back and broken rib. The break was not in a positon that could cause paralysis, with rib protectors on. My son was told that he could play if he could handle the pain. Anyone that knows my son, knows that it would take an act of congress to keep him from the field. The trainers knew of his injuries and he was well taken care of. The coaching staff and trainers and even the EMT (Brian )were great to watch my son and worked with him to let him fulfill his dream of finishing what he started 4 years ago. MY son couldn't have played with out team, coach and trainer support. As for me letting him play with mono for the last three weeks of the season, we didn't officially find out that he had mono until Saturday a.m. after Friday nights game with Mt. Pleasant. And that game, he had his own water bottle and towel, because he did feel so bad. So, as a parent, I supported my son and helped him fulfill his dreams. This team contains his best friends. If you think he would purposely get them sick, then you know nothing about the dynamics of cascade football. These guys go out to eat together weekly, they go out on the weekends, they sit in the parking lot after school for hours just talking and goofing off. I have had a very blessed year, enjoying countless hours with half of the seniors on this team, many of whom have a key to my house. so, no, in no way am i jealous of c11. My son had a blast, as did the other seniors, but now is time to heal, and look to the next level of play. May you all enjoy your son's high school football years as I have. I can honestly say that the past few years have been some of the best years of my life, because my son and his great teamates/best friends have made me laugh uncontrollably, worry incessantly, preach wholeheartedly, and best of all, just be a part of their lives and have been given the opportunity to advise and love them unconditionally. I want to thank each and every one of the boys that have spent time at the house, eaten me out of house and home, splashed all the water out of the hot tub after a friday night game, and been a part of our lives. I will miss you all when you spread your wings... Let's move on before I cry!!!
  2. I am a parent of a Cascade senior. I want you all to know that most of CASCADE players and parents aren't crazy about Cascade11. We try to ignore him, because he seems to stir up more trouble and cause problems for the kids. Please know that the cascade kids aren't the ones on here and haven't been. this dad of a kid that doesn't even get to play thinks he knows all. I think he does it for the attention. Ya'll played a good game. It could have been closer with out a few cascade mistakes, but thats football. We were pretty banged up coming into this game, but it was fun while it lasted. My son has played the last 10 games with a broken back and broken rib. He dislocated his shoulder in the 4th game of the year, and played against doctors advice.(surgery to be around xmas) the past three games, he was playing with mono. ALL HEART! Just want you to know that there are alot of good kids on the team, so please don't judge the whole team by one or two players. good luck friday.
  3. We just caught wind of this injury and although I don't know this young man, my child also plays football and it puts it in perspective how quickly one of the guys can be seriously injured. SO GLAD he is going to be o.k. Best of luck in the future and CASCADE sends you prayers for a speedy recovery. God Bless, and never doubt the power of prayer.
  4. I think you should stand on the Unionville side of the fence Friday night! You didn't hurt my feelings, just want to be able to speak my mind just like everybody else. If the shoe were on the other foot, I would tell my child to protect himself and keep his head up, that every action he takes has a consequence. There is nothing wrong with good, clean football. If you have watched any Cascade game this year, you know our defense is awesome...They don't play, and no mercy will be taken Friday night, especially to a few kids that aren't friends with the Cascade bunch. Nothing personal. Every Friday night, there are a few players on every team that is the focus. The defense knows who to put pressure on and who to go after. Same for Cascade, at least two games have had one of our linebackers or linemen in double coverage. They studied the films and saw who the biggest threat was, and put two men on him. That's the beauty of the game. Both teams have the same equipment and padding, and may the best team win!! Go Champs!!
  5. I in no way implied that any type of illegal hits would be made Friday night, and really don't appreciate you telling me what I can and cannot talk about. On another thread, you basically told me to drop the Nick Batts deal, but I have just read on THIS thread that you brought his name up again......Practice what you preach! My statement was simply that. There will be some really HARD HITS given out by Cascade Friday night. Just that... No more, no less. Cascade may take some hard hits as well, who knows? I am not taking anything for granted, however, I personally KNOW this senior class and there will be no mercy for a couple of Unionville players, and yes, they will be LEGAL hits. And for future reference, I am an adult and do not need a Daddy, because I already have one, and even he doesn't correct me as much as I see you on here correcting everybody. You really need to lighten up a little. We are on the same team......
  6. I really like Frost as a person. Totally disagreed with his offensive calling skills, however, and am thankful for our new offensive coordinator. Has made a big difference in the Cascade program. My only concern for Friday night is the bad taste left in the mouths of some Cascade players that were involved in the basketball incident with Unionville. One or two of the Unionville kids on the football team need to wear EXTRA pads, cuz they're gonna take some hard hits in retribution from basketball. Hope both teams come out of this game without injury. GO CHAMPS!
  7. Just getting back on, been out of contact for a few days! WOW how this has taken a life of it's own. I know that Mrs. Edwards went to Central within the last week and spoke directly to Central coach and asked that he release Nick, for Nick's sake, for what was/is best for the child. Central Coach is being a ###### by holding a kid back from a promising future. As an educator, I am not sure how he can go to work every day, encouraging students to further their education and become responsible citizens (I'm a teacher and at least that's what I do!) and then purposely hurt a child's chances at college. NICK PHYSICALLY LIVES IN CASCADE SCHOOL DISTRICT. END OF STORY. GROW UP COACH AND CONCENTRATE ON TRYING TO WIN A FEW GAMES THIS YEAR INSTEAD OF PICKING ON A KID THAT HAS DONE NOTHING TO YOU. And, in defense of my earlier post, I could claim on my taxes about 10 kids from the Central team, just because of the groceries I am out, so in no way have I or will I ever slam on those kids. They really can't help that they have a spiteful man for a coach, and many of these kids agree that Nick should be released to play. If you were to take a poll in Central's locker room, the vote would go in favor of Nick being allowed to play at Cascade. Maybe Coach needs to establish a democracy and let the votes fall where they may!
  8. I don't understand the problem with Nick. We have several kids coming to Cascade from Unionville and Shelbyville to play basketball and baseball. Nobody has said anything about them, because nobody cares. So, is Nick getting all the trouble because he is an excellent athlete? One problem I think Nick had at Central( and I don't know him personally, but know alot of the boys on the Central team) is that Nick was great at running the ball, but was getting creamed every play, due to lack of blocking, etc. Who can really blame a kid that has all this talent, to go in search of a team that will work together and truly strive for a winning season? I'm not knocking any of the kids at Central. I have personally fed about 10 of them all summer at my Cascade house. However, they themselves have said that Nick was getting KILLED every Friday night. I really think it is sad when a grown man in a position of power chooses to use that power to the detriment of a child's college education. Football may be the only way Nick has a shot at furthering his education. I agree with an earlier post, that scouts really don't come to losing programs ballgames. Even if they do, they have their eye on kids on the OTHER side of the ball. TSSAA should take the reins on this one. The kid has changed addresses. He is physically living in Cascade school district. What else is needed? Blood? If so, I am a registered donor!
  9. I totally agree. I think the seniors needed a shot in the arm and got away with one last night. I can't believe they stopped and fed the boys STEAK before the game, knowing our kids only eat Subway on Fridays and are extremely superstitious about red meat!! What were they thinking?
  10. I did not put down the McEwen team, other than the taunting, but the OFFICIALS should have stopped it on BOTH sides. My problem is with the coach and leaving a hundred people in the dark and being rude about it. And, yes, lights are nice when you have to sign out your kid off a clipboard so you can take him home. Thank God we had cell phones to use as light. McEwen came to play ball and that was obvious. Cascade was flat. No argument there either. But, the officials blew this game and missed several clalls and a facemask that was clear. Other than the coach doing what he did, my main post is about the Officials letting things happen that were uncalled for. I am not taking ANYTHING away from the players. McEwen is solid, and Cascade was not on their game. If I was playing and the officials are letting me do anything I want to do, I would do it too. Not slamming on the players, just the coach and officials. Had 5 hours sleep. Life is better.
  11. It is 1:15 a.m. Just got home from a game where Cascade had 11 players on the field and McEwen had 11+6 stripes....McEwen openly taunted Cascade, a McEwen player kept getting at Cascade's huddle, a Cascade player was tackled in the endzone going for a pass before the ball got to him, the McEwen Chain Gang was cussing the Cascade parents and then, to top it off, after Cascade pulls out a win after having TWO touchdowns called back, flags thrown after the fact, numerous clips and holds and facemasks that were gone uncalled....it just got worse. Coach Parker had drinks and fruit for the players at the bus after they got their clothes changed to get ready for the two hour bus ride home. Some boys were still in the locker room. ALL THE LIGHTS WERE TURNED OUT AT THE STADIUM AND THE MCEWEN COACH PULLED UP TO COACH PARKER AND TOLD HIM THAT CASCADE NEEDS TO ***LEAVE. Coach Parker told the coach that he would NEVER turn the lights out on a team, and he didn't appreciate it, and again the McEwen coach restated what he had said earlier and told Coach Parker to shut up and get out! So, the score might have looked close, but keep in mind that two touchdowns were wrongfully called back and there is a dvd to prove it, and anything that could be called on Cascade was, and very little was called on McEwen. When a defense is openly taunting the offense with 6 officials watching and not saying anything, it is absurd.....Cascade showed alot of class and didn't lose their cool with the late hits and bad calls and just kept hammering the plays out to pull out a win. I THANK GOD that my son is a senior and that I never have to go to that po dunk town again.... When you have the chain gang,(who is part of the officiating crew when doing that job) is threatening parents on the sidelines(openly cussing) and wanting meetings in parking lots, the game is out of hand and the officials for tonights game should never be allowed on a field again. You know it is bad when you leave a game that you won and are upset with the game. It is hard enough to win a game, but when you have to fight for EVERY PLAY hoping they won't throw another flag for something you didn't do, it is a sad night. Anyway, the boys came through and prevailed, despite McEwen and their officials. Way to hang in there Cascade. It wasn't pretty, but it is still a win! And the McEwen coach really needs to examine his actions. What he did tonight was unprofessional, unethical and unneeded. Nobody was bothering anybody, the boys were just trying to get some fluids and fruit before heading home. Cascade will play you tough on the field, but they won't run you out of town by turning the lights off. That coach should be punished for what was said in front of parents, the coaching staff, children and players. He can go cry in a corner all he wants to, but to show out in the middle of 100+ Cascade people was not a smart move to make. Good thing he was on his little golf cart and could make a getaway! Go Champs!
  12. I just wanted everybody to know that I have total faith in our Cascade team as it is now. However, even the seniors on this team feel that Nick Batts on offense will be the difference in state playoffs or not. All of the boys are in total support of this transition and have welcomed him. He is a good kid, no attitude. Had he shown up with attitude, he would have left feeling sad, because this team is ONE unit. They play together, win together and have lost together. They truly are one, and cheer the other on. There is no inner fighting on this team. When Carcuff came last year, the guys pulled him in and within a week he was hanging out on the weekends with various players on offense and defense. I hope for these guys sake that they take it all the way, because these guys have hit it hard all summer and Coach Austin has been there every day to manage the weights and running! Cascade is in the best shape it has been in in years, and if Coach Parker can't pull this season out this year in playoffs, he needs to retire, because even though there are still awesome players coming through the ranks for the next two years, the quality and QUANTITY of talent that is at Cascade now will probably never be repeated. HISTORY IN THE MAKING!! GO CHAMPS and the best of luck Friday night at McEwen.
  13. I want to commend the Cascade Defense for a great game friday night against Moore County, and am looking forward to traveling to McEwen. I think the defense has been overlooked in preseason. All of the hype is going toward the offense and Carcuff. Not a bad thing!! Carcuff is an awesome quarterback and Henderson and Phillips are at the top of their game. But the offense looked rocky in the first quarter of Moore County game, and had it not been for the line and linebackers, the game could have taken a different turn. It is just awesome to see 19+ seniors who have played together since 7th grade, live their dreams this year... And if you don't know but one thing about these boys is that they are as close off the field as on the field. They know each other and know what the other is gonna do. There is a deep level of trust among the seniors on this team and they truly are having FUN when they step foot on the field every friday night. Go Champs!!
